Hi everyone!
I’m wondering if anyone can help me figure out whether it’s possible to fit a golf simulator in my garage. (Just bought the house and won’t move in until January so can’t do test swings yet)
Main question:
Based on the measurements of my garage, is it actually possible to fit a simulator in there, or will the garage door beams/motor get in the way?
For reference, I’m 185 cm (6 feet) tall.
Thoughts on Sim:
I’m open to suggestions for different simulators — I’ve been looking at options like FlightScope and SkyTrak. It doesn’t need to be the most advanced model; I just want something fun that lets me get some basic practice in.
My budget for the simulator is around $2,500–$3,000 can stretch it for a better set up though.
Thanks in advance!

Everything i have read on Reddit on the topic suggests you should be good with the distance and height.
Would you put the screen in front of the garage door ?
I have a similar space I’m hoping to turn into a simulator and from what I’ve read is that it will work, but may have to get a side mount garage door opener. I’ve just got to figure out where I’m putting all my junk first to make the room though
Is it a single door? Do you need an opener? If you can go manual it’ll open up a lot of room. Or go real fancy and get a side mounted opener.
Change the garage door opener to a side wall mount opener or remove it and use a manual lift and that should clear up a lot of overhead room. Doesn’t help with the rails but maybe you can work around that.
You are also allowed to offset the ceiling garage door opener motor if you can’t or don’t want to do a side mount. It doesn’t have to be centered. Just need to make sure it can be anchored on a stud at the wall and the door can handle it being moved off center (pretty much all can).
I recently had mine moved 16” to the right so I wouldn’t hit it on a follow through with wedges.
At 11’ wide you won’t be able to do a simultaneous lefty/righty set up anyways.
Edit: moving it off center gives you more options on a projector mount and placement also. Plan it all together so you can get your motor and project placed as best as possible.
