Order the Mere Mortal LSF25 Set Here 👉 https://letsplaythru.com/product/lsf25-iron-set/
On today’s video, I’ve got the most important golf set that I’ve ever tested here on Let’s Play Through. It’s so meaningful to me because it really represents a dream I’ve had for like 5 years on this channel. Testing all the equipment that I’m lucky enough to test. I got thinking, man, what if I could build my own perfect set of golf clubs for mere mortals? So, for years, I tried to find out a way to do this. I contacted different factories. I tried to partner with different brands. I ran into a lot of dead ends. But in 2025, I finally figured it out. And since February, I’ve been designing these clubs, prototyping them, testing them, tweaking them, and today is the day that I get to play them with you. We are on a par five here. It’s going to be a little shorter because I’m playing a forward set of TE’s. I’m going to go four iron here to start. And as we play, I’m going to tell you everything about the new LSF25 from Mere Mortal, our own clubs for this community, and the hundred sets that are available to purchase today. Actually, 99 sets because we’ve already sold the first one. Four iron. Oh man, high penetrating down the left side there. It might catch the rough. But the first thing I’ll tell you about these clubs is why I named them LSF25. I thought about what are the properties of a golf club that we really have to have. You’ve got to have length nowadays. I think you’ve also got to have a straight club because so many of us struggle with hitting it right, with hitting it left, and you’ve got to have a forgiving club. I don’t know about you, but I often hit shots off the toe, a little low, and those were the parts of the golf club I really wanted to focus on. So, if you look closely at the design of the LSFS, you’ll see that I’ve got a ton of mass in a stepped pattern down towards the bottom, as well as at the heel and toe of this club. That’s going to keep the club a little bit more square at impact. It’s going to increase the MOI, and it’s going to allow for a very forgiving club, something all of us mere mortals need. So, here’s a behind the scenes that most people don’t see. Well, we never show it because, well, it’s not part of the story usually, but today it is. I hurt my back today. So, usually I’m the one to do this. As you can see, Sean is running down the fairway. I forgot to measure this shot. We’ve got to measure this shot to let you know how far I hit it, but there’s a group coming behind us. And uh luckily Sean’s young and doesn’t have a back issue today. Look at him go. Look at him go. All right, so first shot here. I don’t know if you can see this, but we actually are a little bit uphill. So, it probably would have rolled a little bit better, but we went so far. We’re actually coming on an ups slope here. First shot with the 4 iron here. 204. Great start. Now, we’ve had longer irons, but those irons sit at much more pressed lofts. Generally, I’ve actually got 198 in. I’m going to go four iron again. It’s going to take a good shot here, but maybe we can hit the green. If not, we’ll be up there pretty close. Oh man, hit it really well. I think it’s going to be just a little short, but hopefully you could hear it. The sound of these irons are exceptional. The feel is impeccable in this category of clubs. Honestly, I’ve tested them all. I don’t think you’re going to have a better feeling club. Now, this is a cast iron. It’s not forged. But beneath the exterior of this club, behind the face, we’ve got a proprietary foam that’s being used that really adds to the feel. Of course, it adds to the forgiveness, another part of the forgiveness equation, but it really adds to the feel of these clubs. They feel so good. And as you saw, four iron, a very tough club to hit, especially early in the morning. That was uh for me a really impressive shot because oftent times I’ll kind of duck hook those whatever. That was on a really nice line. Got up in the air very high. I actually clipped this tree that probably needs to be trimmed. It’s overhanging where that pin is or else I probably would have hit the green. All right, so I’ve actually got a bit of a challenging shot here on the hard pan cuz it came right down and I got some roots there I got to deal with as well. Oh, I weighted that perfectly. We’re going to have a good crack at birdie. Very good crack at birdie. I’d love to birdie the first hole that you see. I actually played three other holes here today shooting a different video and I was kind of warming up and testing these irons out. And literally the first shot I hit eight iron, I knocked it to six feet, knocked the putt in for a birdie. So, that was a great start. I always I’m kind of like uh superstitious in a way when it comes to golf clubs. Like with a putter, I want to make the first putt. With a driver, I want to hit the fairway and hit a good one first. And obviously with a set of irons, making a birdie on my first attempt was thrilling. And here’s birdie number one for this round of golf. 3 ft up the hill. Bam. That’s the start I was hoping for. You see all the shots that I take out here. I don’t improve the lies, anything like that. You saw I just hit off the hard pan. So, I was hoping that would happen, but I wasn’t going to make it happen. It had to happen naturally. And there you go. Birdie for the first hole. We’re heading to another hole that’s getable before we get into a really difficult stretch of this course. So, I’m hoping we can maybe get that second birdie. That would be sweet. All right, hole number two. Let’s see what it’s playing here today. 312. From there, we’re like seven yards. Let’s call it 319 from these set of T’s. I’m playing irons only, so I’m playing a forward set of T’s. I’m going to go five iron here. There’s a bunker that’s reachable with that four iron because I’m hitting that so far. Ideal shot here’s a little bit of a draw. Now, like I said, these are pretty straight clubs. So, it’s not all about workability with them, but we can get some movement out of them for sure. That’s on a really good line. Hopefully, you can see on the shot tracers, these clubs have penetrating ball flight paired with this shaft. So, I’m actually playing today with the KBS Max 85 g stiff shaft. These shafts are really a great match with these heads because you can get a really nice high ball flight and you’re going to get enough spin to have really excellent stopping power, which I’ll show you hopefully on this hole here if we hit the green. Now, the great news is that’s the stock option for shafts, but I have a number of shafts that you can choose from because I know there’s a lot of geeks like me who watch this channel, people who tinker around, people who want perfection. We’re always chasing perfection, even as mere mortals. I put a ton of different options on there. So, we’ve got US recoils, we’ve got true temper shafts, we’ve got nippon shafts, we’ve got graphite shafts, we have flexes for seniors, everything you could think of. Out of the box, you’re going to get the KBS Max, but there are all those upgrades available for you if you want to change. So, this hole is a dog leg left. I’m really glad I used the five iron rather than the four iron. before and I’d probably be if not in the bunker very close to it with a weird stance in this hard pan. So, I’m glad I hit the five iron. Now, as you saw hopefully in that shot trace again, a very gentle draw to these clubs. We actually blew it past the fairway here. I’m one yard into the rough, but I’ve got a great lie. In fact, let’s test how these clubs do out of the rough. One thing that I really wanted to make a point of focus was the sole of these clubs. The sole of these clubs are much more player friendly than most clubs in this category. A lot of times you get a big wide sole. We get that in a lot of players distance irons actually have a very big sole. This one’s nice and thin, which is going to make coming through rough really easy. I’ve got 143. I’m going to go 9iron. I was thinking about eight cuz we have some wind in our face here, but I’m going to go nine. We got to cover a bunker here. Didn’t cover it. I’m in the bunker. The wind just grabbed that. But as you can see, this thing cut right through the turf really well. Like I said, we got a big gust of wind there, which stopped this. Probably carried at 135. Luckily, I’m on the ups slope here for the bunker. See if we can knock this one near the hole. Well, pulled that one. Came out nice, but pulled it. 12 ft for par here. Do it. Do it. Oh, I got myself out of trouble. But I can’t do that again cuz I won’t get so lucky on this next hole. I’ve got to hit good shots. This is uh a stretch of holes that are three very, very difficult ones. All right. Now, one of the best things about these clubs is the price. $599 will get you a set of five through pitching wedge. We’ve also got a 4iron and a gap wedge available if you’d like to purchase that. Additionally, I think we’re offering exceptional value for what you’re getting out of these long straightforgiving clubs. I’m going to leave a link down in the description. If you’re watching this on your TV, I’m going to put a QR code right here for you. That way, you just literally point your phone up at it and it’s going to take you right to the order page if you want to support Let’s Play through. This is one of the most incredible ways you could do so. And if you don’t have the money right now or you don’t need the clubs right now on our website, we’ve also got merch. We got some of the Mere Mortal stuff I’m wearing right now, including the hats. We got some polos. We’ve got some head covers and more. So, if you love honest, independent reviews from a mere mortal, someone who’s not driving the ball 300 yards, hit that link and uh pick something up for yourself. If it’s these clubs, all the better. All right. So, really narrow hole, water on the right, cypress that cut in, and it really kind of comes to a point here where the fairway can only be about 15 yards wide up there at the end of it. So, this is a shot that’s going to take some precision. See if I can pull it off. Oh, yes. That is nice. 85 mph swing speed there. Let’s see how far it flew. That is why I like to play this set of nines when I test irons. By the way, we’ve got three nines here at Carolwood. This is really the shot makaker’s course. That’s why I like testing irons here because it’s target golf. Especially these next three, four holes, this stretch of the course, you’ve got to be really precise. So, if you’ve watched any of the irons videos that we’re testing, especially here in 2025, you’ve probably seen this course a lot. Now, other courses are great for drivers, clubs that you can just swing away. They’re a little bit more wide fairways, things like that. But this one’s very, very precise. So, I’m really happy there. As you saw again on that shot trace, a very straight ball flight. I actually expected a little bit more draw, but that’s not how I built these clubs. I built them to be straight. Did the job right there. So, you can see how quickly the danger comes into play here. It happens more often than not to people. I’d say I see more people in this water than any other hole on the course. Now, we said they were straight. You just saw that. These things are also long. That’s the L and LSF. 208’s when I hit that five iron. I took a bigger swing there. And that’s why these clubs have so much pop. When I really catch the four iron and take a real good whack at it, I’ll measure that one for you, too. But hopefully you can see just how long these things can be. 135 is the number. Pitching wedge is going to be the club. Now, I’ve got to get all of it cuz again, there’s a bunker on the right there I don’t want to be in. I’m also gonna adjust my swing path a little bit here because I’ve been hitting things a little right here with the irons because again I’m expecting that natural draw that you see on this show and these clubs are so straight that uh I actually need to aim a little more straight rather than I usually aim a little right. Nice turf interaction again. Really high. I aimed left. That’s going to be a little left. But we should have a birdie putt up there. It feels so good coming off this club. I’m not a person that takes a lot of difference, but I get some really nice turf interaction with these clubs. They dig right in nicely, but they don’t get stuck either. They kind of slide right through. I really think we nailed it in terms of the sole profile. All right, I actually hit that about 140 with a pitching wedge, so I love that these things have pop to them. This putt is a little downhill moving left to right. Gosh, I haven’t had a birdie on this hole in a very long time. I think the last time I chipped in on this hole was the last time I had a birdie and I think that was last year at least. So, it’d be real nice to do it here. I will leave the pin in cuz this putt could be humming down the hill here. See if I got the speed right. I think I did. I’ll take that. Never sorry about a tap in on any of these next three holes. We’re heading to four again. Another real tight one that’s going to take some precision. And it’s been the Achilles heel for me. I’m going to quickly get that negative thought out of my head and start to think positively. We’re going to hit a good shot here. All right. On this tight hole again, I’m going to go five iron here. Oh, I can’t tell you what a relief it is to see this one land basically dead middle of that fairway. If you watch the show, you know I pull shots left on this hole a lot cuz I’m also guarding against a lot of trouble and hazard there on the right. And uh man, that looked good in the air. Nice and high. that we got past that palm tree. That’s the key on this hole. Should have like a eight iron in my hand. We’ll find out. Again, it’s impressive even to me to see how high these clubs fly and to feel them, to hear that crunch. It’s funny. We’ve had some comments on the show. People think I’m adding sound effects to the clubs. We do add some fun sound effects like if the ball kind of toilet bowls around the hole, R.J., our editor, will add that sound effect. Or, you know, there’s some sound effects that pop up, but we never put a sound effect on the clubs. If it’s a tingy driver, you’ll hear the ting. If it’s a crunchy driver, you’ll hear the crunch. I am sure you’re hearing the crunchy with these irons cuz they sound so good. Am I biased? I’m biased, but it’s also true. You don’t have to experience to believe it, I guess. Now, if you saw the STI2 video from Maltby, I was somewhere in this region with a five iron. I also hit a 5iron on that show. Look where we’re at here. This is a bomb. And I didn’t take like the biggest swing of my life there in any way, shape, or form. I really never do. I prefer accuracy over distance generally. I mean, I want to have good distance. We all do. But I I wouldn’t mind losing five yards if I’m going to hit fairways, hit greens, or just all in all have a more playable shot. This thing went a long way. I actually didn’t measure it with the Garmin this time. I probably should have. I expected to have like an eight iron in my hand. I expected like 145. I’ve got 122. So, I would be hitting gap wedge, but I actually didn’t build my set with the gap wedge. I should have. We’re going to go pitching wedge. I have to take a little bit off of this one. But the pin is also kind of close to the hazard, so I don’t mind being a little long here. I’m not going to take too much off. Oh, so good. So good. Got another birdie putt. Oh, man. Distance-wise, again, basically nailed it. I’m just a little past the pin, which is great. And I thought I was going to have a long birdie putt, but it’s not that long at all. I probably got 25 ft here. This is doable. Again, we’re going to keep the pin in here cuz I’m above the hole. Just got to get the right weight of this putt here. Settle. Too bad. Just gave it a little bit too much credit there. Oh my gosh. Well, we’re back to even par on the back of my putter, which I was just telling Sean I’m putting so well with this putter, but oof, the three putt reared its ugly head. That’s okay, though. It just means the irons have to perform even better. I think we got more birdies than us. Heading to a par three. Cue the comments about not using my own putter. Teach me a lesson, right? I should have. I totally should have. Anyways, can’t cry over spilled milk. 155 is the number. See what this wind is doing. I think it’s into us again. Well, it’s a little with us, actually. Eight iron is going to be the club. First chance at an ace, man. That would be sweet. That would be sweet. The pin’s all the way in the back, so I can’t really go after this too too hard. I’m going to take a nice smooth swing, which is fine cuz my back is killing me right now. But probably a 165 club if I really hit it all the way. But we don’t need that much right now. I didn’t hit it well. So there you go. There’s the forgiving part of these clubs. I came up a little bit short, but that could have been a lot worse. The club turned over in my hands as I hit. So I kind of I hit a little bit fat and the club turned. You saw that. That did of course add some right to left spin, but it wasn’t extreme. That’s the forgiving part of these clubs. Also, because I hit it fat and I took like a 85% swing. I’m really happy that it basically we’re just short of the apron. We might be on the apron, but I think we’re just short of it. So, a very forgiving club. And you got to see that right there. Now, I’ve got to get up and down though to save par. 54° in my hand here. Go, go, go, go, go, go. Would have liked it closer. All right, this putter owes me one. Let’s see if we can get it back. I’ve got eight feet here. I see this breaking just a little left to right. Yeah. Dang. Okay, another bogey there. We’re headed to the number one hole on this side technically, but a good drive will actually put a lower iron in my hand. I’m going to take that four iron back out. We’re going to measure this shot and I’m going to take a real rip at it. No, I didn’t hit it good. I hit it off the toe again. Going to be probably just fine a little bit further away, but that was hit right here. That’s as bad of a swing as I could take. So, good news again. Testing the forgiveness and you’re seeing it here in real time. Well, actually got a really unlucky break. We slid down into the water, which means I’m dropping here for my third shot. But par is not out of the question. I think these clubs are good enough to make it possible. I’ve got 133. I do have to carry a big tree. What’s nice is just how high these golf clubs go up in the air. We’re going to go pitching wedge. Oh, clear the tree easily. We’re going to have a crack at saving the par. So, unfortunately, as forgiving as these clubs are, they can’t forgive poor swings, as poor as that drive was. And of course, they can’t do anything about the hops. But, as I always say, it takes one bad swing to get you into trouble, but only one good swing to save a hole. We’ll see if we can save the par here. Nailed the distance once again. There. Let’s check the pitch mark here. I was in the rough, so it’s going to hop a little bit forward on us, but you’re going to get great stopping power because these clubs are so high, especially with these shafts. So, that rolled out 2 and 1/2 ft here, and I am dead pin high. This putter still owes me one. This would be a great time to get it back. Man, didn’t expect that much of a break. All right, it’s another bogey. Unfortunately, we’re headed to our seventh hole. We’re two over par now. And we’ve got some work to do. I went after that one. I yanked it. Club head speed was 88. Ball speed was 130 coming off that club. The smash 148. The estimated carry is 194. When I over swing like that, cuz I really wanted to kind of do like a max distance test. The miss is going to be a little left. So, I did miss it a little left here. Again, it also happens as I get a little more tired during the round. I get a little more armsy. So, just something I got to think about on this next shot because we need to knock one in tight if we’re going to get those strokes back. Again, even on a bad swing, 202. So, we’re actually in a perfect spot, though. I wanted to be left side of the fairway. I didn’t want to necessarily miss the fairway, but perfect angle over here cuz this pin is on the right hand side of this hole. I’ve got to throw a dart. 131. There’s wind into me for sure here, but I still think I can get there with a pitching wedge. I think I got to get all of it. It’s on a great line. If it’s the club, we’re going to have a chance. Oh, it’s short. That wind again swallowed it up. So straight, though. I still think this is putable right here. So, we’re going uphill. It’s got to reach. All right. Par it is. We still got two holes, though. We got a par three. My second chance at the ace. Then we’re going to finish with a par five. And then I will give you a ranking of these clubs, and I will do my best. my absolute best to not be biased and give you a true ranking of where these fall in the let’s play through pantheon of clubs. 125 is the number. We’re going to hit that pitching wedge again cuz this is in line with that last hole and I found out that the wind is pretty strong up there. That pin is in a spot that is acceable. Gosh, I hope I could do it. Oh, that felt good. That looks really good. Oh my gosh. I don’t know. I didn’t hear it hit the pin or anything. It’s going to be close, I think. I think I think that’s as good as I could hit a club. Let’s find out. Wow, that came right over the top of the flag stick. And again, if you want to talk about stopping power of these clubs, if there’s any concern, there you go. It actually came backwards. It hit in here, probably bounced forward, and then sucked back. And that’s just the pitching wedge, never mind the gap wedge in this set. Well, it’s as good as birdie putt as I’ll have all day. Well, other than that first hole. The irons put me in position. I just did not come through. But I’ll take the par. We got one more hole to play and then after I hit my T-shot here, we’re going to rank these clubs. All right, so time to rank these clubs. Like I said, I’m going to be as honest and biased as I possibly can be for these being my own creation. If we talk about distance again, I had this set at 30° for a player improvement iron. I’m going to give these a 4 and 12 out of five for distance. We saw it with the five iron. That’s probably the most exemplary. I don’t think I hit any of the four irons pure today. If I did, I think we would have been around 215. When it comes to forgiveness, full five out of five. I built these clubs to be forgiving. Now, when it comes to workability, the thing about forgiveness is you’re not going to have as much shot shaping ability with a forgiving club. I still think the characteristics of these clubs do allow for some shot shaping. Unfortunately, I shaped my shot a little too much there on the sixhole and we found the water. All in all, I’m going to give it a four out of five for workability. When it comes to a looks, feel, sound, our aesthetics category. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think there’s a better looking players distance iron on the market right now. It’s a unique shape, a unique look. I also try to keep the badging minimal because I know people like that and I happen to think it’s a beautiful one, but then again, I drew it out. When it comes to the feel, I’m telling you, you’ll have to take it from me. These feel as good as any cast club created ever in the history of mankind. When it comes to sound, right up there. So, for me, a full five out of five for aesthetics. Now, when it comes to value, I’m not getting the bulk discounts that you get when you make thousands of sets. We’re making only a 100 sets here to start with. They’re very limited. So, I tried to do the best I could with the current environment we are in in the world of golf with clubs getting more and more expensive to make. So, at 599, I think we’re offering exceptional value for the performance you’re going to get. And I’m going to give this a four and a half out of five stars for value. So, 94 points is my score for my own clubs. I think they are incredible. I’m going sixiron here to lay up. All right, I’ve got 124. Wind is into me again here as it’s pretty much felt like the whole round. It’s one of those days where the wind kind of shifts I feel like as we go. We had our first hole was kind of a crosswind and then everything else seemed to be in front of me. I’m actually going to go nine iron here because this pole always plays a little longer as well. Stay stay. And I hit the back of the green, but we’re on the green. All right. So, I had to be sure. So, hit that a little longer, which gives us a harder two putt, but man, I enjoy a lot of rounds out here. This is obviously number one for me. And it wasn’t my best score, but my body was not in its best shape today either. So, I’ll give myself a little bit of a break there. And I thought these clubs performed as good as I could ever have imagined, especially again in that field category. Man, I hope you get to try them. All right, it’s going to be a tough two putt, but we’ll see if we can finish strong here. Ah, what the heck? Let’s make it a one putt. Huh? Let’s make it a one putt. Why not? Why not? All right, two over. And uh if the putter performed a little better, it might have been a different story, but that’s golf for you. I hope you enjoyed this video. I’m going to leave a link down in the description for you to purchase one of these 100 sets we’ve made. That’s what we’ve got right now. There might be more in the future, but there might not be. We’ll see how things go. Hope you enjoyed the video. I’ll catch you next time on another edition of Let’s Play Through.

Horrible timing for me. No paycheck coming in and I suspect that I will not get paid back for another month. Still working, just not getting paid.
Congrats on the launch Gabe! Can't watch the vid at the moment, do you mention who the OEM is for the clubs?

Are you by chance able to test the Avoda curved irons? Didn't know if they could be used by us Mere Mortals or if they are meant for high speed players.
Lefty’s ? 😁… If not that’s fine and good looking clubs 🏌🏽♂️⛳️👍🏽
Would you call these game improvement irons or players distance irons?..and how would you compare them to Ping i530s?
Great looking casting. Looks like performance is really good. Congrats on your clubs. Bring them over here to new Tampa heritage isles. 🏌🏿♂️⛳️😎🐊🇺🇸👍
Another great video and amazing job with the clubs (Given it 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)!! Love the fact you take into account that not everyone is a pro golfer. Hope the back feels better soon and keep up the good work.👍
Congrats. Don't need new irons right now, if I did I would give these a try…..This is strictly guess, but these look like they were made by Ram Golf.

Great looking clubs Gabe. Is custom fitting offered? Congrats
I LOVE the look. Unique but not crazy. And one thing I didn't expect, that sound of the iron is super satisfying! I love how they sounded. If I didn't just get a set of irons I would be buying these. Your price seems more than fair as well.
Am I able to order these with a 1/2 shorter shaft or lie adjustment? Great looking set! And I love your channel.
There is an absurdly large amount of offset on those clubs!
