LEWISTOWN — What currently appears as an eyesore to some will soon transform into a mini golf course that will entertain families for generations to come.
The mini golf committee for Kishacoquillas Park met on Wednesday to discuss movement on an estimated $625,000 golf course that is expected to take shape spring 2026.
For now, parkgoers will notice mounds of dirt where the course is set to be laid.
The committee discussed movement on designing fixtures for the course, which will include aspects of Kishacoquillas Park’s legacy with an amusement park theme.
Kishacoquiilas Park Manager Josh Graver shared that they are currently working on getting the electricity operational to allow the course to be lit for nighttime play.

Pictured is the location of the soon-to-be mini golf course at Kishacoquillas Park in Derry Township as SCL excavating prepares to lay dirt.
Committee members explained that Harris Miniature Golf Courses – who are laying the greenery and assisting with landscaping needs, as well as laying out the course – are including a water feature at one of the holes, which the board suggested take the shape of the Stone Arch Bridge.
The project is the culmination of efforts involving other locals.
Rebecca Conner of the Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology’s class sketched ideas for a few of the holes, which were digitized so they could send the files to a professional fabricator to be created.
One sketch nearing fruition is a bear wearing eyeglasses, representative of that hole’s sponsor.
Another hole is expected to be a fire truck, inspired by Yeagertown Fire Company’s Blue Goose.
This stage is expected to include a statue for children to climb on.
Included in the $625,000 was a $417,980 quote from Harris Miniature Golf to construct the course and $155,539 for rough grading, electrical, rough plumbing, and landscaping fees through SCL Excavating.
The mini golf committee last met in April, with two teachers from Mifflin County on the committee Derry Township hoped for student participation because after all, these students can offer their creative expertise.
The sponsorship drive is still available for those who wish to make pledges to fund the project.
Those interested can call the Derry Township office at (717) 248-8151 for more information or visit the office at 73 Reserve Lane, Lewistown.
