[Music] What’s up everybody? Welcome to the final round back nine of the Greater Tulsa Open brought to you by INOVA. This is Bquare commentary. I’m Braden Teasley joined by the great Brandon Cawthorne. The great That’s a That’s a awful lot of praise from you. I appre You just call me daddy. We’re at Hickey Creek Park on the back nine going into hole 10. Uh we got to thank the sponsors for making this event possible. Got coral swimming pools in a disc golf and,00 rated. Uh this turned out to be a phenomenal event. I think Shields was a big part of that as well. That’s a big sponsor to pick up for an A tier. Uh the TD Tyson Jones, he always puts on a good event. Um and then we’ve got the Discs uh crew who’s out there catching every shot for you guys to be able to enjoy on some post production coverage. Yeah, like Brandon said, this event has been great. Um Hickey Creek has, in my opinion, never looked better. Um they’ve got it looking great for this tournament. And this is our card for the back nine. We got Carter Erenss 1020 rated. He’s had the lead um for the whole event. And I think this man is trying to catch him. Yeah. Jonathan Fletcher uh he’s been solid for a long time and he’s leveled up his game in my opinion over uh this last season or maybe two. Caleb Bruce, he’s a local out of the Pah Huska area. hangs out with Avery Jenkins quite a bit. Uh, as you can see in their th his throwing style. Um, and Freddy Mesa, who is always solid. Yeah, he’s so smooth, so fun to watch. If you didn’t watch the front nine, I’d suggest going back and watching it cuz he provides some excitement. All right, hole 10, second hardest hole. So, I’m guessing hole one was the first hardest. Um, 480. You’re looking to throw a putter turnover or sidearm or flex shot to land about here. And then you kind of just pick your poison. Take this right side wide or down the tunnel. Um and there’s this last guardian trees and it’s on a bit of a hill and elevated. So scary putt run. Freddy is going to take the backhand turnover. And he hits something a little bit early. Just a little bit tugged. Uh he’s going to be in scramble mode for the rest of the hole. Jonathan looks like he’s going putter here. That was wide. I couldn’t tell if it ticked the tree. Uh but he ends up in a pretty decent spot. I prefer to be a little further than that because it opens up the back door his cleanest line to the basket. Caleb’s going with that turnover here. And this a little overturn, but as long as it gets up there. Yeah. This is Yeah. So that’s the spot I’m talking about. He’ll have the back handheiser from there, which tends to work out pretty well. And this putter that Carter’s been throwing all weekend, something late, but Andy’s going to be pinched up behind that tree. That’s a little bit unfortunate. It was a good shot for 70% of its flight. It wouldn’t be this hole without some forehand rollers. And that one, he squared up the skinniest tree on the fairway. Carter going forehand roller as well. And look at this. Oh my gosh. He has salvaged himself a birdie look from uh not a great spot. That’s that’s really good. Freddy going this flex right at it. Knocked down, but he’s got a long look. Yeah, that’s a little bit scary. There is the drop off behind the basket that can uh put you into some tough spots with the trees the way that they’re aligned. Caleb’s taking this wide hiser. Um it’ll always get you a putt, but you don’t really park it that way, but he’s up there in the circle. Yeah, I guess I don’t think about that. 30footers I’m completely fine with. I don’t know. You might not be. Yeah, some of us think differently. Jonathan little inside there. He’s not going to be happy with that effort. Uh, he had a pretty doable shot to get himself a much shorter look. And I think that’s that Freddy. This is for his par. So, he’s going to give it a go. And he squeaked down a little bit. We’ll see what he has on the comeback. Caleb, this for his birdie. And if you air this past, like you said, does slope off. He makes good on it. But yeah, that’s solid. [Applause] our miracle birdie. Look. And he connects as well. That’s such a good birdie. Yeah, he’s thrilled with the birdie after where his drive ended up settling at. This is kind of that obstructed putt I was talking about. Freddy’s going to be in the mud as well and to use a little more arm and less legs than he normally would. Jonathan cleaning up the par. Freddy just tapping in here. Double bogey. Yeah, that’s uh that’s frustrating. Yeah, and it shows you why that hole was hard. I mean, bad tree kick and then a couple missed putts. It gets away from you. All right, we got hole 11 brought to you by Knockwood Park. Uh Knockwood’s one of the five best courses in Kansas. It’s technical, beautiful, and it’s definitely worth the trip. Hole 11. This hole is very straightforward. It’s the easiest hole on the course. You’re kicking yourself if you don’t get the birdie here, but it does require kind of controlled shot. Uh want to throw something in like the 220 range and let it just slide up to the basket very straight. Yeah, there is danger deep. Um that’s why it’s pretty important to bury it into the hillside there. Caleb’s going to show us the putter approach. Baby hiser flip. This should cut back towards the basket a little bit. And he’s perfectly fine with that. Carter throwing that same putter. Needs to stand up just a little bit. Yeah, that’s perfect. That works. I would fully expect this card to starf this. Jonathan looks like we got three good ones. Yeah. Yeah. I think he’s The only way Freddy doesn’t birdie this is if he ace runs it and doesn’t draw metal. Oh, going to the forehand. He’s going sidearm. That’s actually kind of surprising. But that is useful. I mean, shot. There’s a reason he went sidearm. The furthest away at all of 12 ft. So, are you going to say it or am I going to say it? I think you can say it. You want me to say it? Yeah. Okay. It’s a starf, otherwise known on disabil coverage as a full constellation. Drop in for Jonathan. Completes the starframe. We would expect nothing less from you boys. This is the real deal right here. Pushing that left side right into the hill like we talked about and a leaner. Was that worth two points? I think three actually. All right, we got hold 12 par five. Uh 688. This first landing zone plays as an island, so you have to land on here. They’ll be left, right, long. Um the drop zone’s over here on the right side. It’s pretty favorable. So, you can save the par or birdie like TJ yesterday um from that drop zone. And then you’re looking to land somewhere in here and scramble for your birdie. Um the second landing zone is all about just getting across. Um once you’re across, you can kind of work your way up there. Um, yeah, I’d say the left side’s easier than the right on the second landing zone. That is dangerous. He is out of bounds. He kicked across the line. That’s over there. He’ll be going to the drop zone, throwing his third and this was perfection yesterday. Looks a little left today. Oh, he gets away with it. Yeah. So, he’ll still be able to advance to the second landing zone if he chooses to. Jonathan, this looks cured. As long as it’s not up against a tree, it should be good. Yeah, he’ll be able to make something happen there to eat up another 300 ft hole. This is dangerous. Oh, it gets around just by it. Yeah, that’s great. He’s going to be a little pinched off, but yeah. All right. Um Carter going with the forehand. Just trying to get across here. Uh I don’t know where that went. It looks like it landed just in front of the short D-pad. So, there’s not an OB line for the second crossing. It’s playing uh just as surrounded by water. I think there is the one just short of the path, but like you said, anything past that, it’s just water. So, like we saw yesterday, an unplayable lie. This is the drop zone shot. He’s being kind of aggressive with the hiser flip up. This is as good as you can throw it. He’s turned around the catch cam. Oh my gosh. I haven’t ever seen the shot the backhand work that well. That’s uh something special there. Caleb ready go the forehand turnover. This looks great. Yeah, he’s a big forehand guy. He throws them all the time for big distance. He’s a big guy. Big guy. Carter, that was tight. squeaking by, but it’s looking good for the birdie. It’ll work. Jonathan playing this hole how you’re supposed to that might go in. Give him a little bit. Oh, the tree. It’s a little long. That tree may have actually been good. That thing had some pace on it still. Freddy got a long look here. Yeah, he’ll settle for that. This would be an insane birdie. Oh, just a little high left. Still a ridiculous shot to get there with the backhand from the drop zone. Yeah, we And the fact that we saw two looks for it in two rounds is pretty crazy. Carter ganks that one a little right. It’s like what we saw in hole five. I thought we weren’t talking about that. I forgot. He makes good on that one. Get away with a par. Jonathan, good birdie there. There’s a birdie. So, they are knotted up again, right? Yeah. Caleb cleaning up his par. Like we said, the drop zone’s pretty favorable. So, um, if you do go be on that first shot, it’s good to get up and down. All right, hole 13. It’s brought to you by Heisernauts, supplying your disc golf needs. Uh, reach out to Chris Smitty Smith today. [Music] 13. This is a par three. Um, this is one that you really want to get. It’s not very difficult. Kind of middle of the pack. The backhand turnover plays well. The distance isn’t the issue. It’s going to be controlling the distance and the angle to stay clean in the fairway. There’s a a left forehand where you got rightiser the whole way. And then there’s also a straight forehand that some people take. I imagine we’re going to see a bunch of backhands here. Yeah, this looks great. Oh, he tried to lean it again. He likes that real deal roll back. He does. Freddy going the inside side. Of course he’s going to prove me wrong. That’s up there. Edgesy one. Brucey with the backhand. He’s really good at this shot. Oh, just a little inside but gets away with it. Oh yeah, that’ll be the roller. That’s what that is. Carter, I don’t know how many holes we’ve seen this disc on. It’s one of his workers for sure. And that’s why it’s perfect. Brucey trying to connect from shallow circle too and he gets it. Oh, good putt there. I would say we need this one for the star frame. Oh, just a little low left. That’s uncharacteristic. He’s normally really good for those. Carter cleaning up the birdie. Kind of bounces back and forth between the stagger and straddle. Freddy cleaning up the par. Nothing tapping in. I wonder if he goes to the straddle to not pull it. If he feels like he’s pulled a putt, maybe he goes to the straddle to keep it all centered up. All right, we got hole 14 353. Um there’s OB all down this left side in this rough. You’re looking to just throw mid-range, maybe fairway. Um just throw it on his and never really let it get flat and just get around the corner here. Should be a pretty stock shot for these guys. Um, your mistake is just missing inside and going no B or it is still in bounds there, but definitely not a birdie from there. It’s looking good. If it stretches a bit, it does. And oh my whole hit. This car’s just giving us all the highlights. Why not? It’s final round. Let’s get excited. Carter going mid-range. This is perfect. Yeah, that’s the action you’re looking for. Never brings the OB into play. Doesn’t need any tree love. Pure the entire way. Freddy looking to bounce back here. Might be going for one. Wouldn’t be the first time. Good shot from Freddy there. Jonathan got this left for his parade slight work, but he’s he’s definitely kicking himself for at least not giving himself a chance there. Yeah, he’s going to lose a stroke to Carter on that one and give up the shared lead. and we’ll eventually get to Caleb’s drive. Shout out Kevin Sarter in the background there. I know he did a lot of work getting this course ready for this event among other people. Yeah, him, Jason Mansur, and uh Yasha had a lot to do with everything that happened here pre-event. So, the event the course was ready for the event. You got the real deal roll back there from Caleb hitting metal, hitting the pole. Park job. Hole 15. This is a par4. There’s a bunch of options here. Um, a lot of people are just going to throw straight up the middle here. bit of a hiser flip uh fade out to the left. There is a a forced over forehand shot down the left side. The closer you are to the path, the plays will be uh gives you a very open forehand approach to the basket. So, you don’t have to deal with any of the pesky late gaps on this hole. I imagine throwing that same purple disc right down the middle. CD1, he hasn’t missed it yet. No, and he’s not going to right now. Oh, L tree. But the kick right sometimes it it’s definitely more open over there if you get right enough. Carter, same play down the middle. Just want this to finish left and it hits a tree. Stays in the middle. Be a tough approach from there. He’s going to have a couple of small gaps to choose from. Freddy likes that backhand line so he’s going to throw it as well. He’s looking to get left and he’s done it pretty well. He should be able to manufacture something from that position. Jonathan going with that sidearm gap we’re talking about over here. Yeah, I think uh if I remember before the round, Joe Carrey was telling them that this is the play. This is what you do. And a lot of the locals take that line because you’ll see once we get up to his position how easy of an approach it is and you’re not dealing with any of this right here. Yeah, that was tough shot from Carter. He hit the gap well, just too low. Freddy had a couple trees to contend with, but Oh, I don’t know if it skipped. I think he might have hit the last tree. Caleb got right enough. I think that might be his Spider-Man disc. Well, that’s a putt. He’s going to be at edge of circle to the elevated basket. And this is what Brandon was talking about. If you get over here close to this road, it’s pretty wide open up shot. Yeah, I’d say that’s almost as bad as you’re going to do without being super errant with the shot. Carter just ready for a highlight. They look for the birdie. Oh, just a little high and the roll. He’s just as far as where he was. Yeah, it does slope away just a little bit on this backside. So, that sometimes happens. Yeah, look at the top of that basket. Caleb, he’s not a tall guy, but uh he’s 5 and a half foot tall. Top of that basket is up there like seven. Yeah, then for the birdie. Good there. And I think this is tie back up. Yeah, get out of the way. Freddy’s going to pup before you clear your disc sometimes. Freddy is playing very fast. He always does. If there’s a backup on a card that he’s on, he is not the cause ever. All right, hole 16, par4, 66 ft. Um, like we’ve mentioned in the previous rounds, this left side is all painted OB and it kind of bubbles in around the 400t mark. Um, so if you’re going for big distance, it makes you play more to the right. And then the basket is surrounded by OB, but it’s midcircle, too, so you have plenty of room. So, we got a tie at the top. They’ve got a little space between third place, unless somebody on a a different card has made a push, but I don’t think that was the case. Uh Jonathan’s just content with giving himself something from that right side, not bringing the OB into play at all. He goes allheiser. Yeah. And you don’t really have to bite off a ton of distance to get up and down. Um just missing out here on this right side, not bringing in OB into play is and that’s done to perfection. Yeah, that’s what Caleb’s wanting there. See what Carter decides to do. He’s looking right. He went straight last round and now he’s throwing a little further right. Yeah, if this hooks up. This is way down there. Yeah, he doesn’t bring if if that tips over, it does bring the long OB into play, but he knows his disc. He’s not going to let it flip at all. Freddy thinks that this is going OB or he’s just walking off because he cool guys don’t watch explosions. Yeah, he didn’t even watch that. He knows what’s going to happen. He’s going to birdie. And he’s a little short. Have that one tree to contend with, but Jonathan going with the sidearm. This plays well into this. Was that an FX3? FX2. FX2. Hanging it wide. I don’t know Prodigy discs very well, folks. You know Millennium, though. and he puts that middle circle one. This is one of the easier holes on the course. So lead car is definitely looking to star frame this. This is looking good. Long enough right there for a tap in. We’ll finally get to Carter Drive. Just got the backhand straight at it. And that’s done to perfection. That’s exactly what you’d expect. I think Freddy will clean up on this. Hey, little left side grabber. Yep. Corner pocket. We call that the Scott Adams. Good putt from Jonathan. Well on our way to a star frame. Jonathan’s 11 under right now through 16. He’s That’s cooking. Yeah, he’s playing well. Yeah, I think the first round Carter was 14 under through 17. Is that right? Or he may have been 15 through 17 in Bogey the last hole. Man, Starframe full constellation. And we got hole 17 brought to you by Discs Unlimited. Check out the website. They’ve been supplying disc for tournaments, clubs, and players since 1987. Hole 17. This is not technically an island, but you want to be inside of this uh wood wall that circles the basket. It’s a little deeper than circle one. Everything outside of that wall is going to be hazard. Yeah, it plays well for the backhand putter right at it or the sidearm hiser. Looks like Jonathan’s going with that backhand putter. And this needs to sit Yeah. And it does. Yeah, that’s fine. I could tell he didn’t like it out of the hand. This is the Spider-Man disc I was talking about. Do you know what it is? I think it’s a Horizon FD3. Yeah, you know, Disc Mania discs. Yeah. And Carter lining up the backhand. I think this plays better in my mind for an overstable putter thrown flat, but he likes the hiser the entire way. Uh he’s got a lot more power than I do, so I’m not going to question his shot selection. Freddy just going right at it. thinking why not acid. Why not? He’s good for comeback putts. Freddy, last one was low left. We can make the correction. If he was only a couple inches taller, I think he would have made that one. If that basket was shorter, even if it was a headwind, he would have made it. Jonathan for the birdie. Sneaks in on it. Assuming Carter makes his putt here. We should have a tie at the top. Payload makes good. Solid. All right, we got ourselves a tie at the top. Ready. Tapping in for the par. Headed over to hole 18. We are dealing with uh a hole sponsor. Here you go. Holy Team brought to you by Just send it disc dies. Don’t miss out on your chance to snag some unique disc dies. visit the website down below. Today, back to the whole description, we’ve got a par4. It’s not played from this teapad. It’s played from the long teapad. There’s no beine on the left and on the right. Uh it’s tight at the tunnel. Uh and then it starts to open up from there all the way to the basket. Um to you really got to get a good drive out there to put yourself inside of about 350 to the basket. Uh if you’re wanting to get the birdie here. Yeah, and on the graphic there, it did show as the hardest hole final round. Um, we have OB both sides of this gap off the TE. So, any early tree can kick you OB. And this looks That’s good. Perfect. That’s exactly what you’re looking for. Yeah. So, an early kick and maybe the final hole of an H here kind of got to some players and made it play as the hardest hole, if that graphic was accurate. Caleb, I couldn’t tell if he nicked the last tree or got past it, but Carter needs a good drive after Jonathan pured it. Little high. You can get up and down from there. Uh, it’s just going to require something kind of special. Freddy little low, but can it get past it? Yeah, it does. And I think Carter’s actually fought through a little bit. So, you’re saying I’m wrong? It doesn’t have to be special at all. I I call it like I see it. Okay. Caleb going right at it. Not throwing the purple disc. What are you thinking, dude? Yeah, purple disc would have been parked. Oh, absolutely. I’ll be your caddy. Caleb Freddy probably got 350 380 in here. swinging the hiser in and well he’s done with this tournament. Yeah, I think that’s a disc he ace with too. Carter knows he needs to get up and down here. It’s going to be a flat toheiser. Nope. He’s going with the hiser stand up and it dries up a little bit short. That kind of happens. You’ve got a bit of a low ceiling with some of the limbs you have to contend with from there. He was further up than I expected. So, I was wrong and I have no problem admitting it. Jonathan seeing Carter dra short. Knows he wants to park this. Swinging the hiser in. This is with the tournament on the line. That’s so good. What a shot. Caleb for the long birdie. Looking to finish strong. Oh my gosh. Nearly nearly drained it for the unlikely birdie. Freddy tapping in his birdie. He said, “Get me out of here.” It’s all around for Freddy. Yeah, Caleb’s tapping in. So, the reason for this is because uh on the front line, if you hadn’t watched it, whole five, there was a question of an OB line that was not marked on the course, but was described in the OB description. And uh they are trying to figure out what’s happening here. So, originally what they decided with right here before Carter putted because the tournament is on the line and he would have to make it assuming that uh Jonathan is going to make his putt is that the OB line wasn’t drawn, it was missed. So, Jonathan’s birdie, which was input into the score, uh stands. Carter has this for the birdie. He almost connects for it. Uh that’s that’s frustrating. Jonathan’s still got to make his putt in order to not go into a playoff. And so right now they think that Jonathan’s believing that that’s for the win because Tyson had made a ruling uh that no ob line can’t enforce it. Um after this there’s some more discussion that happened and they decided to go look at it. People started crowding around. Uh some people were complaining. Some people were saying that the hole could have been played wrong by several people because I think in round two we saw Logan Harpool played as if it were OB because he just assumed that it was like most players would and didn’t read the rules. So, uh, ultimately what ended up happening is, uh, Tyson called the PDGA and they ended up scrapping hole three, gave everybody pars for the entire event, which I think was probably the right move. Um, but that does end up giving Jonathan the win overall. Yeah. And as you can see here, Jonathan 12 under, super hot round, gets the win. Um, and yeah, kind of a crazy shakeout for the tournament, but thank you all for joining. Be sure to like and subscribe and uh let us know how you feel about Bquare commentary. [Music]

Not a big fan of the ending. But it was a good watch
