Korea’s Jeunghun Wang made the most of the Moutai Singapore Open’s return today – shooting an eight-under-par 64 for a one-shot lead on the opening day.

The tournament was last played in 2022 while it is the first time it has been held at Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) in a quarter of a century. Wang celebrated the occasion by shooting nine birdies and dropping just one shot.

Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Gunn Charoenkul and Kieran Vincent from Zimbabwe, all returned with 65s – here on the New Course at SICC.

[Music] Well, there’s been plenty of low scoring already. This is Dominic Fuss of Germany who won the Macau Open last month. Third shot at the par five fourth. Beautifully judged by the Germany hold on his way to a 666 under. Same holdin top 15 in Hong Kong last week already five under bar setting up another birdie. He too would finish at six under. And first year player on the Asian tour, Charles Porter, currently 42nd on the order of merit. This shot into the ninth will set up four straight birdies to make the turn. He would go on to post a five under par opening round. And Gun looking for his first Asian tour win in his 14th year. Made the turn three under. And with that putt, moves to five under. Would have three more birdies and a bogey coming home. Seven under par 65 for Gut. The man with four live golf league wins, including a win in Singapore in 2023. Taylor Gu, this is second birdie of the round, will post a bogey-free round of 400 par 68. Kieran Vincent, who started his day on the 10th, made the turn at four under, set this one up for an eagle putt on the par 54th after a string of four straight pars that was a birdie. Ended his round at seven under par 65. Great start for Kieran. Now John Hung Wang who put together a fantastic opening round today. This is his second at the second. Wonderful shot there. Goes on to make a birdie and then follows up with this one on the third. Great round of eight under par for John Hun Wang as of now. The lowest round for today. Yes, the Korean is up there 64 for eight under long overdue. Another win. You might think it those three on the DP world tour in 2016 and 17. Kieran Vincent and Gun Sheron Koul are just one back. Then it’s Fos and Shin six under par. But as I say, a day of really low scoring and plenty more to come in the course of the afternoon, I’m sure. Van Campbell this for birdie on the fifth. As Tim said, a lot of slopes to these greens. Oh, that was well judged. And Tipong off to a nice start. Three under par on his round. Three of his first four holes. I don’t hate this play. Shorter clubs always a good idea. Breeze off the right. Bit of help again. Try and use that slope just about six, seven yards right of this whole location. Does like to move it from right to left. Anyway, this one’s starting right trying to turn. Should catch the slope. That’s a gorgeous shot. Carlos PM one over for his round and looks like he just avoided the penalty area on this dog leg right to left. Oh, one hop and in the hole for PM just eagle two holes ago at the par five fourth Yun Kim second shot from the fairway on six slight downhill lie hole location today on that right side of this green. Oh, just attacking those pins today. Out to this for birdie after that chip just came up short from being at the back of the screen. It’s going to be a slow one up the hill into the green. Oh, well done. Four par fives out here this week. Want to take advantage of those. We’ve seen a few eagles already. Kered ball slightly above his feet. This is his second at six into a right hole location as we’ve seen. You don’t want to be on the other side of the spine. Oh, using the slopes beautifully there. Had a tough finish last week at the Hong Kong Open. Oh, now this Korean pro is trying to beat this par five by holding his eagle putt as speed well judged [Music] trying to find some form towards the back end of his season and his on a good note. [Music] Oh, and that is perfectly judged there. On the 17th, the players do have the option of driving the ball close to the edge of the green just 323 yards. But Sivan Kim laying up off the tea quite a bit using a full shot. Well thoughtout hole. Had four straight pars in a row. Also a great shot there at the ninth hole. Niton Tibong to make the turn at 30 strokes. Beautiful front nine by Nittor. Paul Casey. Second at nine. Ball above his feet to a tucked hole location which should help with this ball shape. Start it just right of it. Curve it right to left. Oh yes. Very nice slow putt. We saw John Catelyn’s didn’t go that far. Oh, dribble pace. Down to the 10th fairway. Seu Han of the USA. Oh, this is a good shot. Kazuki Higa from the other side of the fairway. This is second on nine after that birdie on the eighth. Oh, that can help him. I’ve already putt for Kirk to make the turn. Four under par. Good putt. This a long to save par for Ben Campbell. Well done. That really is a little shake of the head there. Yeah, good P, but I should never have been there. That’s what he’s thinking. I caught the signal from his Caddyy Johnny Long socks. This is a seven iron. Not one that’s going to be struck full tilt. I imagine this is just a smoothie. Yeah, slightly lower flight. Started it right at that hole using that natural right to left ball flight and he’s pulled the right club again. Into the green side bunker in two at this par four. Third shot for Ratan. [Applause] Don’t think this is anything more than maybe just a cup left. Wow, that went the other way. I thought that looked in all the way, Savannah. I really did. Just making the turn and heading into the front nine of the golf course. is back nine at the second and Taiwan’s Wangi bird attempt at the 14th. Well done from just off the green for and very much in form although a little flat the past couple of weeks. Long range birdie putt here for Caleb Serat here on the 10th down that ridge. Curling trying to keep curling left. [Applause] I think we can take it from the reaction. He hold that one. Nagenji Buller coming off backto back bogeies. This birdie attempt at the 13th. Oh, unlikely hole from that portion of the green Ajit. Well done. Well, 12 straight pars for Travis Smay. Can he break the sequence? Looks like it. Yes. At last a birdie putt. Yeah, that’s almost worth a lap of honor, isn’t it? Frustrating day for the Aussie. 12 straight pars and finally a birdie at 30. Tip t-shot found that green sight bunker. A lot of green to work with here. That was very well judged. Second shot for Caleb Surat at the 14th. Drove it well down there. Just a short second shot in and nicely played. 17th T. Zong Hun Kim just got to be careful not to go right. Too far right. That is out of bounds. Oh. Oh, I don’t believe that. It’s come out. It’s now heading back up the car path. Oh, good. Got two birdies in a row. Ready? Can he make another one? Oh, yes. Second, Kim. We’re here and gets a bogey attempt. Yeah. And now he hit the cart path a couple of times on that right side. That ball ended up in a pretty dodgy area. Not sure what happened between that, but that was a fantastic save for a bogey. Stef Stefano Matsoli birdie attempt at the 14th. Oh, well done by Stefano. He mentioned earlier did play in the grand final of the challenge tour event last week. Finished runner up Ker just a tap in here on the 17th. That gets him to eight under par. Tie for the lead. 1. Where’s the Kwon and Vokey highlights? I mean I know they’re T108 and T121 but give the people what they want! OKEH?!

  2. I prefer the content of DP, LIV and Asia vibes. Its like the US Tour is becoming arrogant college golfers and LIV represents people who have crafted a personality and mature to understand the world
