SPRINGFIELD – A new business is one step closer to opening on the west side of town, bringing golfing fans a new place to practice their swing over the winter.
X-Golf, a high-tech indoor golfing simulation business, is coming to Springfield according to a Building and Zoning permit filed on Oct. 22, valued at over $240,000 for remodeling the old space of David’s Bridal.
Here’s what we know so far about the new-age swinging chamber for golf enthusiasts.
What is X-Golf?
X-Golf is an innovative and accurate golf simulation experience, using an indoor facility with multiple ranges for golfers to test their swing without leaving a ball on the ground in the end. Sensors collect the speed of the club, the trajectory and use technology to show how far the ball would go with 3D graphics software in over 40 different courses to choose from. The business also offers league options, tournaments and legends from professionals on how to better your clubbing skills off the green.
Besides state-of-the-art camera sensory technologies that collect raw golf data at and around the impact zone, the facilities usually also include a full-scale bar and limited food menu.
What will the Springfield X-Golf have?
The planned X-Golf location will feature eight simulator bays, a full bar, and a kitchen, offering guests an upscale setting to enjoy golf, dining and social interaction. In addition to casual play, the facility will provide professional golf lessons, league play, and the ability to host private events, including corporate functions, parties, and tournaments.
Who owns X-Golf?
Owned and acquired by Dale Ventures in 2021, the California-based company owns over 140 X-Golf locations across America including franchises. While the official X-Golf website does not list the new Springfield location on their marker map, RCG Ventures of Southwest Plaza already lists X-Golf on their tenant list in the plaza.
Where will the X-Golf be?
The new business will be at Southwest Plaza located at 3201 S. Veterans Parkway. The building is 9,000 square feet and is next to the Luxe Nail Bar and Best Buy. The contractor for the remodel of the building will be Tarter Construction services, with the architect Brian Eady.
Are there other X-Golfs in Illinois?
While this will be the first X-Golf in Springfield, the brand is no stranger to the state. Illinois is home to 16 golfing facilities already across the state with most falling into the Chicago area. A full list of locations can be found on the X-Golf website.
How much will an outing cost to X-Golf?
While the prices have not been set in stone yet at the upcoming location, X-Golf charges by the hour per simulation. Each simulation can fit up to six people into one room with 3D graphics, with $45 an hour for single players, or $65 an hour per group.
When will it open?
Ryan Tarter, the vice president of Tartar Construction Services and who will be in charge of the X-Golf franchise, said the business plans to open in January 2026.
