PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – In its final tournament of the fall season, the University of Pennsylvania men’s golf team was unable to defend its title at the Big 5 Championship as the Quakers took sixth place with a score of 307 (+27). After getting postponed last week due to inclement weather, the 18-hole tournament took place Thursday on the par-70 course at The 1912 Club.

Individually, junior Max Fonseca was Penn’s low scorer as he shot a 5-over-par 75 which left him tied for tenth in a field of 36 golfers. Freshman Arjun Caprihan was one stroke behind Fonseca, with a 76, and tied for 15th while Ryan Chang carded a 77 and tied for 20th. Junior Hayden Adams was the Quakers’ final scorer in the six-play, four-score event, with a 79. Wesley Hu and Kayden Wang rounded out the lineup.
 
Villanova went home with all the hardware on Thursday; the Wildcats nipped Drexel by one stroke to win the team title, while Matt Zerfass shot a 1-under-par 69 which was one stroke ahead of Drexel’s Thomas Young who finished second.
