Offering a different, relaxed and beginner-friendly take on the classic golf break, two Peak District venues have joined forces to offer something intriguing for 2026.
Peak Edge Hotel, a family-owned four-star countryside retreat, has partnered with Stanedge Golf Club, a proudly inclusive 10-hole (18-tee) course with sweeping Derbyshire views, to create a Stay & Golf experience designed for real life: short scenic rounds, great food, and a warm welcome for everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned players. While both venues are friendly, relaxed and inclusive, they are equally committed to high standards in everything they do.
Stay & Golf will be available from 1st March 2026, just in time for the new golf season.
Their collaboration comes as golf participation continues to surge worldwide. According to new figures from The R&A, 43.3 million adults and juniors played 9- or 18-hole golf in 2024, up from 42.7 million the previous year – part of a sustained global rise in participation. Across all formats, including driving ranges and short courses, the total now exceeds 108 million players worldwide.
“Guests are choosing golf for time together and time outdoors,” says Mark Thurman, Managing Director at Peak Edge Hotel. “They want fresh air, great food, and zero pressure. When golf is framed that way – social, restorative, and fun – people feel they can just turn up and belong.”

At the heart of the experience is Stanedge Golf Club, owned and run by former professional golfer Fame Tate, who has built a reputation for championing inclusivity in the sport. Since taking ownership in 2019, she has transformed the club from a struggling business into a thriving community hub that welcomes players of all ages and abilities.
“Golf can still feel intimidating to newcomers,” says Fame. “But when it’s done right, it’s the most welcoming and joyful sport there is. We’ve built an environment where you can come with a friend, talk, laugh, enjoy the views, and not worry about the scorecard. If you’ve never played before, that’s completely fine – you’re exactly who this is for.”
After a round at Stanedge, guests can unwind at Peak Edge Hotel, a historic country retreat with cosy nooks, oak beams and flagged floors – all the warmth and character you want after a day in the Peaks.

Part of a small, family-owned collection created by Derbyshire entrepreneur Steve Perez, the hotel is known for its award-winning two AA Rosette Red Lion Restaurant, where menus showcase local produce and ingredients from its own Walton Lodge Farm – including native-breed beef, Dorset lamb, Berkshire pork, honey, and free-range eggs.
The Stay & Golf package (from £240 for two people) includes an overnight stay in a Superior Room, breakfast, a pre-booked tee time at Stanedge Golf Club, and 10% off à la carte dining at The Red Lion.
Flexibility is central. Guests are also welcome to book golf at Stanedge separately – there’s no requirement to book a Stay & Golf package – and non-residents are invited to enjoy The Red Lion and bar at Peak Edge, perfect for post-round drinks or dinner with friends.
The result is a golf break that’s relaxed, inclusive and fun – delivered with the highest standards on and off the course.
