‘AIEA, O’ahu – The University of Hawai’i men’s golf team is in the hunt at the inaugural Pearl at Kalauao Invitational and tied for fifth place when play was suspended due to darkness Wednesday during the second round at Pearl at Kalauao.
The Rainbow Warriors, who were tied for second place after Round 1, are 11 strokes behind leader Nevada, who is 9-under par. UC San Diego is in second place at 6-under followed by 32nd-ranked West Virginia at 5-under.
James Whitworth is tied for 12th place in the individual leaderboard at 1-under while three others are at 1-over – Anson Cabello, Dane Watanabe, and Nathan Szpakowicz.
Chris Salem is 13-over to round out the team. Three Rainbow Warriors are competing as individuals – Alec Hilgers (+7), Cameron Combado (+13), and Quinn Murray (+14).
Eastern Michigan’s Charlie Box is 7-under through 33 holes, including 5-under in his second round.
Play resumes at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday followed by the start of the third and final round at approximately 8:30 a.m.
