Why do athletes sniff smelling salts? Typically, it’s used to treat fainting victims because of its strong smell. But athletes have used it for many years to provide a jolt of energy or alertness on game day. However, now it’s banned. And a frequent user of smelling salts, George KD, isn’t happy about it. Our team got a memo today that smelling salts and ammonia packets were made illegal in the NFL. Wow. And I’ve been distraught all day. But why is it being banned? Well, the NFL says the products are not proven to be safe and can also mass signs of a concussion. And so, no ammonia, inhalent, and smelling salts can be used at all during the 2025 NFL season. Some players will now have to find an alternative to getting that much neededed boost.

  1. That stuff is no joke 😂

I was at a conference and this guy who worked for a smelling salts company was walking around.

My co-worker hits it first, and the guy is like "don't get too close to it"

He got too close to it 😂

My scary ahh was flinching until it cleared one nostril out IMMEDIATELY.

Then I thought I had it under control and got too close 😂

    It's so bad

  2. Unusual nfl dub, we dont want dudes hiding their concussions, nobody should be hiding concussions. Unfortunately for the people who use them to be alert, most of the guys are using them after big hits to be alert when they have a minor concussion.

  3. it’s banned for the nfl to provide them for the players. not banned for the players to provide for themselves. i’m pretty sure.

  4. The NFLPA clarified the league’s new rule on smelling salts in a memo to players on Wednesday night, according to ESPN’s Kalyn Kahler. While teams are now prohibited from providing or supplying them in any form, the new policy does not stop players from actually using the substances.

  5. lol pretty sure just watched Jason Myers’s use some before game winning kick against the cardinals 😂 #cap 🧢

  6. The ban is only on the teams providing them. They can bring and use all they want. There was a bit of confusion on this for about a week though.

  7. I just watched Rodgers rip one on the field, toss it aside like a finished cig, and throw a 70 yard bomb at 41. The players said fuck that rule 😂😂
