Talk Birdie To Me is hosted by fomer world #16 Nick O’Hern and Tour Pro Mark Allen who played the British Open at Carnoustie.
All right, this is our talk birdie to me master class. I’m with one of the masters himself, Elvis Smiley. Uh we’re playing here at Sanctuary Cove in the BMW Golf Cup National Final. And this is about how to chip into the grain because I can tell you right now, have a look at this. If I just hit a normal chip shot. Oh, see how that is really digging in. So with these ones, what we want to do is we want to use the bounce the back of the club. Now, what loft you got there? I got a 56. 56. So, it’s not a lob wedge, which means he’s got a bit more bounce on this 56. And what he’s going to try and do is keep it very shallow through the ball. Okay? And we’re not going to try and dig. So, to keep it shallow, you have to keep your arms nice and wide here. We don’t we don’t want any wrist hinge. Okay? And then rotate through. And if the club actually does hit the grass, it’ll just glide and bounce through it. All right. All right. Let’s see how we go here. I was no pressure. Okay. Oh, look at that. Look at that. Don’t Oh, hello. Hello. Oh, okay. He’s chipped it to 6 in basically. But anyway, that was a master class. Thank you, Elvis. And uh good luck for the rest of uh the season. Like career next week, right? Korea next week. Yeah. Beautiful. Thanks, man. Beautiful. He’s good. He’s really good. [Music]

If your wedges don't have a lot of bounce, you can increase it when you need it, by opening the face a little.
