Aphrodite Deng is capping a big year with some hardware.

The Canadian golfer was named junior player of the year by the American Junior Golf Association on Wednesday.

Deng, the 15-year-old born in Calgary, became the first Canadian to win the U.S. Junior Girls Championship in July, earning exemptions into the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open and Augusta National Women’s Amateur in the process.

It marked her third and biggest victory of the year after also taking the crown at the Junior Invitational and the Mizuho Americas Open.

Now, she’s also the first Canadian to win the AJGA’s player of the year award.

In August, Deng competed at the CPKC Women’s Open, where she won low amateur with a 4-under finish. At one point in the third round, she was second overall, only behind eventual champion Brooke Henderson.
