JC Ritchie spoke to the media after securing the top spot in the HotelPlanner Tour’s Road to Mallorca rankings, and he was asked:
– What are your overriding thoughts now?
– What does it mean to you to win the rankings?
– How have you changed as a person and a golfer since you started this campaign in February?
– Is it significant to be the first South African to win 3 times on this tour?
– How excited are you for the next chapter of your career to begin?
hasn’t really settled in. Don’t really understand what I’ve done. But, uh, today was difficult. The conditions were difficult. Um, I really wanted to win the tournament. I really wanted to put a good good score in today to to try and compete and the conditions obviously made it tough. So, um, but I think I’ve had an unbelievable season. Um, when I fly back home or even tonight when we’re having a party, I’ll sit down and and have a think. But yeah, dream dream dream dream season for me. It was it was something that one of my first first coaches told me um when I was sort of preparing to be on tour and he like he said just try and be the best on every tour before you level up or try and be in the top 10 and and um managed to win the sunshine to Order of Merit and compete there for a couple seasons um and then it’s taken its time to learn how to play out here and compete and haven’t managed to do the competing section yet and then just go and win it. So, um I’m I’m really chuffed. I’m really chuffed with the work I’ve done. Um and I mean it’s such an awesome opportunity for us to be able to graduate to the DP tour is is is unbelievable and without the guys Tim from Hotel Planner, I mean without them we we wouldn’t have jobs. So extremely grateful. I’m considerably less of a person. Um I’ve lost some weight. Um I’ve really worked hard. I’ve been um I’m definitely not the person I was last year. So um happier happier with my game, sort of know what I’m doing. Um and yeah, I’m I’m glad glad I’ve managed to prove to myself that that I am good enough to play out here and and and compete at a higher level. Yeah, I think it’s it’ll it’ll all settle in. But um I mean when you go through the dark times and even when you go through the good the stuff I mean we all tell ourselves how amazing we think we are. I mean you have to to try and try and beat the guys around you. So it’s it’s really nice for all the self-t talk in the dark moments that that you sort of crawl out for those things to to be to become true. So that’s that’s really awesome. Extremely. Um I’m I mean I I can’t wait. I’d like to start playing next week, but um part of the system that I’ve had this year is taking nice nice um nice breaks between events and planning a steady schedule. So, I’ll I’ll have some time back home to enjoy with the family now before the last little stretch before Christmas. and I’ll prepare properly and hopefully we can just keep the momentum
