I challenged a HEAD PRO at HIS OWN course… (Ep. 3 – Crail GC)

This is the final video in the HeadPro series for 2025. And we’ve come here to the home of golf. This is five. In 1895, legendary Lynx golfer and course architect Old Tom Morris laid out the original nine holes here before returning in 1900 to complete the full 18. This course has everything you could hope for in an ancient lynch. Dramatic ocean views, quirky topography, historical landmarks, and tricky undulating greens. This course presents a really tough test and my opponent today is head professional David Snograss who’s a great player and an all round lovely bloke. He’s going to have a massive crowd cheering him on today in this,000B match. This is the course that David knows best. This is Cray Golfing Society. We are. [Music] Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the first tea at Balcomi. Today we have a unique match play competition between Mr. Peter Finch, Woohoo! and Cradle Golfing Society’s very own head PGA professional, Mr. David Snodgrass. Oh, wait a minute. As is our protocol, the visiting party will play first. On the tea, Peter Finch. All right, I’m going first. Yeah, good hit. Thank you. [Applause] shot, Dave. Dave, mate. Well done. That’ll do. Nice. Flag. 132 back. Edge. 124 to the flag. 124. 132 back. Feels like it’s hurting a little bit as well. Yeah, I wasn’t hitting that amazing on the range. Okay. Nice smooth seven then if you want. Eight. One two one two four the flag. 124 flag city. And you come looking ball, Dave. Okay. It was certainly easier to hit it off a tea in the first than it off the ground with the second shot. So, it’s a good shot by Dave with that coming in. Pins kind of like towards the back. Yeah. kind of into a little bit as well. Yeah. So, pin pin towards the back. It’s going to So, you’ve obviously got the creek at the back. So, you got to watch that bounces too much. It’s It’s a bit softer than what it used to it’s been for the last few weeks. Okay. It’ll kick on a little bit though. Okay. Again, use the wind and bring it in for me. Bring it in. Yeah. Yeah. Good. Good. Good. Sit. Sit. Sit. Excellently shot. Well done. Cheers. Thank you. Oh, I nipped that well. I love love love turf. Also, just before we get to the green, a huge thanks to Titus, not just for supporting this series, but also club pros, the length and breadth of the British Isles. And as a little surprise, they’re going to be supporting the junior section here at Cray regardless of the result. shot, Peter. Cheers, bro. I’ll take that for We’ll both take that for the first time. Have a we impact on it. Yeah. Greens are nice and firm. Yeah. Feels like it’s got the right. Yeah, just a wee bit. Just inside left. Yeah. Yeah, it’s good. Just get a nice putt in the first hole would be good. Go on. Peace, Dave. Go, go, go, go. I like it. Good line, buddy. Take it away. Thanks for the pick up, Peter. You are robbed. Oh, it’s just uh you are robbed. Just too firm on that. Good pull. Just whacked it. The 10 N’s off, so I’m happy. Good off, mate. Thank you. All right. [Music] Second hole. Par four or par five. Par five. Par five. Not going up there. No, I’m quite happy in this tea here. Yeah. No. Big big chat. Who’s Who’s green keeper? Who’s head green keeper? H Bob Mikl. He is here. There he is. Thank you for not being too silly with the course. We appreciate that. Thank you. I haven’t seen it yet. Yeah, that’s true. One hole too early to show. Uh so we got 500 yards. Um kind of that bunker there, mate. Yeah, between the the bunker on the on the left and the black and white pole, but we can favor a little bit more left with this wind. Okay. Sure. Good hit, Peter. Yeah. there, mate. Good job. Right, Dave. Perfect. Okay. Yep. A little bit of a detour, but it’s on the golf course. You’re going to have to You’re going to have to talk to him. Is it? You’re going to have to. Come on. Go tell them off. Go. Go tell them. Go on. Here’s your chance. Right. Okay, Dave. 250 front. Yep. Pin’s back, right? I can see the flag from here. Yeah, that’s fine. Yep. I’ll probably just hit the bigger of the hybrid. The one with the white crale head cover. Cheers. It’s all right. Fine, Dave. Yep. You happy with that? Yeah. Line was good. Did I walk again? Can we walk? The front pin itself is almost middle. Uh, as you can see, this wind comes into play very big here. Yeah. I was going to say that’s going to be down off the left, isn’t it? Yeah. One of them landing a bit short. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Let it run on. Okay. Yeah. Try and control this height a little bit. Come on. Did you see my baby? It’s all right though. Hopefully still about somewhere. But must be must be me. I I personally thought there was a 30 mph wind off the left. I must I must have misread it. This runs this way anyway, but it certainly will today with this wind. It’s a case of just getting onto that just maybe pin pin high onto that hump there and let it run down. Yeah. Just like that. Yes. Just like that. Just like that. Come on. Thank you. Perfect. Yeah. Not not sure I meant to play it quite that far left, but we won’t tell anyone. We’ll That’s the main That’s uh No one needs anything off that hump. No one needs ball. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Fed on away. Okay. just kind of shot off that slope as soon as it hit the ground. Yeah, it’s okay. Kind of played it how I wanted to, but just as soon as it hit the ground, it just kind of shot on. Nice shot, beat. Yeah, it’s not exactly what I meant to do, but kind of ended up all scared the hole a we bit. Sorry. You want to pin away, Dave? Yeah, that’ll be fine. Just be thank you. You keep hitting them that close all day. Don’t worry, they won’t carry on forever. Should just swing around from the right, I would think. A little bit for the wind as well. Yeah. Quite short again. Take it over. Thanks. Yes, Peter. Well done. Yeah, thank you. Well done. Yeah, thank you. All right. All right. Birdies are always nice. All right. What up? What what a what an evening, by the way. This is unreal. How good is that? Not many better spots in golf, especially in a day like today, I think, with blue skies and sunshine and Yeah, pretty special. [Music] So 175 175 into the window. Yeah. Anything between the flag there and the telephone beyond these two chaps. You see the telephone pole there? Yeah, anything between that there is good. Okay, perfect. 175 180 into the wind. Trust this a strong wind. It’s going to feed a little five in there just to the left of the pin. Super shot. Great strike. Yep. I think it might be that just looked like it stalled into the wind ankid hybrid. Yeah, it’s fine. We hit some claps. So, I’ll take I’ll take take the collapse. Great. And we’ll just I think so, Dave. Yeah. Much much nicer than the last few days already. I didn’t get anything. Good looking ball, Dave. Thanks. Like that. Well done. That was good. Yeah. Nice fly that down to the slope now. Awesome claps as well. I know. I was going to say I was listening for the we bit clap said he could it was a we bit it didn’t come right away but you got I’m thinking that’s just you rolled up next to the hole for some I think a four iron I’d have been lucky to get to where Peter is just into that wind. Okay put going to let the slope and gravity here Dave once you’re over that a little bit left to right here. This one’s going to come off. Yeah it’s going to come off that little bit left to right. Just a little on the down. Well, it hit. You had it in the wind. Needs to be hit. Come on. Good pot, David. Good pot. Right, mate. Well done. Very good. Well done. I said for Yeah. Well done. Okay. Good feet. Yeah. Nice. Good. Good. Right. Yeah. The rolling uh rolling great. It’s just so nice going to a lynx course in October and like green’s just rolling off. Cheers. [Music] 240 to that bunker there. All right. Okay. I’m going to go with that and then just let the wind move. Not going to go try and take it on too much then. No. This is not the not the whole s over the bay just yet. It’s fine in that one. Nice, isn’t it? Excellente. Camera. Yeah. I don’t know. Thank you. Safest shot in the world. Thank you. It was not going right, was it? Wow. Yeah. Lovely. Thanks. Great wine. So, is this John? This is me, John. All right. Very good, mate. Good. Cheers. Easy. Easy guy. I’m allowed to pick the tea up during the uh that doesn’t affect the shot tracer. Okay. 139. Obviously, six from the right. So, thanks to Bob. 139. 139. Yep. Back edge is 150 into the wind. Into the wind. Let’s hit um No, let’s hit a six. Okay. Yep. And we’ll just try and flight it down a little bit into the wind. And it should kick on from the front a we bit. Perfect. Hard. There we go. Bounce. Lovely. Very linksy. Look at that. Lynxy shot you going to see. So that’s what that’s what we’re here for. That kind of thing. Cheers. And it’s 93. I’ll get it to the to the front and about 125 to the middle. So yeah, 115 p. So I’m guessing we just want to land it almost around where David’s ball is. That’s your angle in just feed into that. Just feed it into that. Yeah. Just short of that, I would think. Wind’s kind of just into a touch, isn’t it? Yes, a little bit. Yeah. Okay. Chip pitching wedge in. Have you seen what you got? He’s absolutely gorgeous. Oh no. Great. Get him. Okay. Almost. Almost. Just checked, didn’t it? Yeah. It was a bit um I kind of landed out a lot bit right than I wanted to as well. Face just a bit open. Yeah. Hey, sorry. Hey, still a chance. Yep. Certainly the right idea. Still a chance. How good’s this? Yeah. Massive turnout. This is great. You did a touch more. Thank you. Yeah. Tough this one. A couple of nice shots now, which is good. This one will be an interesting putt though. It’s got to come in from the left here. Nice pace. Superb. Yeah, it’s lovely. Good for Pete. Thank you. Yeah. All right. That’ll do. I goody. Yeah. I don’t want you shooting me again. I’ll just have it out. Thanks. Cheers. We’re not that deep into the match for those not to be given just yet. thoughts, Dave? Yeah, I think so. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It’s just what it does for the first half of the P. Yes. Just kind of I mean downhill downwind as well. So, we just got to be careful. [Music] Unlucky. Take it away. I kind of delayed my marker coming out the pocket for as long as possible there because he was on the camera, Dave. Actually, I was I I was thinking about waiting let you get set up for it, but it’s too early. He’s too He’s too early for that type of thing. [Music] [Music] Uh, right. What were we saying? Oh, wow. Hello. Wayne, Dave, I don’t know how far right am I going to middle telephone pole. It’s about 235 240 to that bunker. So, with every sort of pole, you kind of see them in the light. There’s a white poles. It’s another 10 15 yards added on. So the middle pole. Yeah. Anything between the two poles is into this wind is strong. And if you even get that bunker, it’s good today with that wind. Yes. What a ball that is. Okay. Go for the further. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. The reaction like you’re all surprised like that. Is that is that not what you guys do? No, that not is that not the line. Right. Okay. Yeah. How’s your lie? What’s that? How’s your lie? The lie is okay. It’s going to promote it going light. All right. Low. So, I probably actually struggle to carry the bunker like in terms So, I’ve just got to keep it inside it probably. Okay. Cuz I think we probably want to try and get it up as far as we can as opposed to like, you know, late hit to the bunker. Yeah. Then play. We just get the 3-wood out and give it a back and see what happens. Give it a rip. Sounded good. It’s fine out there, Dave. problem. Actually went further than I thought it was going to go on the left. Safe place to miss. I’m guessing it’s in play at least 157 off. It’s about 22, but it’s only about five or six to the right. Yeah. So, aiming left again. I’m going to say Yeah. It’s got Remember this green runs from left to right. It sits up a little bit and it runs down from left to right. So, okay. Yeah. You were in the right place this time. Yeah. It’s 14 on. It’s five five from the right. A we pop bunker there just in front where the hump is. Okay. Yeah, there’s a we pop bunker there. It’s right into the wind as well. So, okay. I was going to try try and get left of it anyway. Is that good? Yeah. Cheers. Brilliant, mate. Uh 50 or 56 just so it has a wee bit lower trajectory the bounce. Yeah. So yeah, we’ll take pitching wise and we’ll get up up on the left. Okay, there you go. Cheers, big guy. Good line, Dave. Release that. Nice shot there. Shot D. Very good. Very good. Good. Better. Better. It’s quite nervous the first few holes, you know, like playing with so many people, but I’m settling a wee bit and the fact I’ve made four pars so far makes me feel very happy. But it’s amazing like all the members that have turned out to support us and stuff. And then even the guys that have just are obviously fans of Peters that have seen it mentioned online and come along to watch as well is it’s a pretty cool feeling. Yeah. Getting to play exhibition match with some fans. Hey, good. Take that for give ourselves a chance. Just a touch left to right once get on Yeah. Yeah. A little bit soft with the irrated greens probably. Yeah. Touch more. That came out with an absolutely ridiculous amount of spin. It’s got to come from the right, you would think. Yeah. Should do. Is there that much in it though? I was I was thinking. Yeah. Par four or par five? Par four. Par six though. We’ll call it par. Par five for me. Par four for you, Pete. Couple of cups, Dave. Yeah. Jin. Yeah. Jen is outside. Yeah, I think half a cup. Come on. It’s going to miss just left. Unlucky, mate. Can’t take it away. Thanks. Yeah. Well done, Pete. Nice. Good. Straight, wasn’t it? Yeah, I pushed I did push it a little bit. Yeah. Pushed it into the middle. Yeah, push it right in the middle. There’s nothing good solid. Well, it sounded solid enough. There’s nothing worse when you push it into the middle. Oh, just just so dialed in. Just can’t miss with the at the moment. [Music] Wow. Selection on this one’s going to be interesting. 195 playing 120. What do you What do you How do you even pick a call for this? Yeah, it’s kind of switching straight down. So, we got a few holes here where the wind wind might help at all. And it comes at you from the as soon as it opens up there, the wind will come and play. Yeah. Yeah. You go. You think Yeah, cuz you’re talking about it too hard. Might be might be a bit off the right. I think that might be a touch off the right. Good line, Dave. Come on. Chase up. Go on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Good shot, Dave. Cheers. There you go. See, this sound is surprised. I’m surprised. Yeah, nice job. Cheers. Very, very good. Greens are good. Good. Weather’s good. Yeah, company’s great. Oh, thanks. One more for I met these guys. Yeah. No, it’s good. No, thanks again for coming up to to F to do it. Yeah. No, no, no. Thanks. Um Well, I mean, thanks for having us. So, I just want to say also a massive thank you to Titus who are supporting this series. Uh, and they, you know, they support pros up and down the country, hair, professionals, but they’ve also decided to support the junior section of the golf club as well. So, they’ll be they’ll be contacting you soon with a bit of giveaway to juniors as well. Holy moly. Grease bungers come out of this pitch mark, which is good. Just want to get it releasing a little bit. Great shot. Well done. I’ll get thrown out C’s union if I don’t do it. You thinking right. Yeah. It’s funny cuz up there it’s coming in. It is coming. Yeah. If you’re up there it’s going that way, but I to slightly outside the right. Okay. Yep. Cuz I don’t think there’s an awful lot on it. No. left. I’ll take it away. Cheers. You saw how that turned. I think it’s going to move the bit just to the left. Yeah. Yeah. Not a huge amount in it. All to do with the pace. Kind of looks as if it’s going the other way, doesn’t it? But but you saw David’s just turned. Yeah. And it’s going to go right edge. Yeah. Yeah. Let’s get the pace up the slope. Just pace. Yeah. Okay. Hold back. Unlucky. Right idea. Yeah. Just again, I just uh pulled it a touch, I think, though. Just a touch. Yeah. Back to one. One. Yeah, back to one. Close match again. I’m pleased to have a horn. Well, these have all been uh close matches so far in this series. Make sure you do check out those past videos as well. in Hezwall and then with Carl then here and then obviously last year we did the the five home country one. So plenty of videos you can fight and try everything will matter from now on from now on. Let’s fight in it. There’s no way to fight any cuz everything will matter from now on cuz it’s high. Such confidence here. Maybe it’ll be too bad for me. It’s drivable, dude. You’re up. 320 front. Um, yeah, I’ve got 320 front, but downwind obviously link conditions. Few bunkers around. So, we going left of the post. Yeah, just on the post. The green is on the Yeah, because you can see the fourth I mean a yard or so indeely. I think I’d probably feel happier with the people being a wee bit further left just before. Can we just go just ever ever so slightly? Yeah, that’s fine. Yeah. Yeah, that’s fine. Down the hill. I just such power. Dave, the last thing I’d want to do is um injure somebody in one of your videos. Yeah, that’s the line, Dave. Perfect. Well done. Kick off this. Yeah, just all the way down. There we go. Perfect line. Yeah. Well done. Yeah. Well over the helmet. Good man. Hopefully. Kind of looks like it a wee bit, doesn’t it? Line seemed all right, didn’t it? But yeah, just depends what happens when he kicks. Mini driver. Has there been Has there been a better club ever invented? Yeah. Yeah. Mashing. I thought he would play to be fair with this wind. I thought it was a three-wood, but best club ever made. Really? Oh, it’s unreal. What degrees of loft? Uh 13. 13. But it’s kind of one of those where it’s great as a secondary option off the tea cuz still it’s off the fairway, but it’s better off the tea than like a three-wood. Yep. If that makes sense. Halfway. Yeah. Chip and run it. Let it go down. That’s it. That’s it. It’s going to go. It’s going to go. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Turning that, David. Yeah. Coming down now. Yours will be all the way, won’t it? Yep. Right. We’ll see if we can just get it down to pin high. Why is it too we can do Oh, I think you’re putting enough. Yeah. Oh, man. It’s just all about the pace. See what we can do. We’ll leave the pin in, Dave. It’s a sloping green this one from front to back. Come on. Come on. Come on. Think I might have scared him. Yeah. Okay, dude. Did I scare you? All against Peter. Hopefully. Get in. Get in. Oh, good try. I don’t think you could have done much more. What do you think, Dave? That was a great pop. Oh, man. Yeah, that mine’s shorter than yours. Yeah, just at the end. It’s got to come around a little bit at the end. Yeah. thinking inside that pitch mark. Is it? Yeah. Come on. Come on. Come on. Go. Go. Go. Go. Oh, dude. Do it. Do it. Do it. You take it away. I’ll take you down that hill. Hey, I well I was saying I think that might be the hardest hole in the course so far for us personally like just you know such a changing environment and almost drives the green then three pot bar but the real challenge on this hole is around the green. So yeah. All right. We move on. Still one. Is this par five? Nope. Nope. So [Music] [Applause] [Music] 400 y drivable apparently. Okay. The wedge. The wedge. Yeah. Double green only double green of the course been lovely to have said nice halfing birdies but it’s probably the reason why I’m a club pro and not a tour pro it’s match it’s match play don’t matter about score it’s just a half nicely done bang in the middle perfect Yeah. I thought you might have had a chance of driving this one. Yeah, I was trying I was trying to get a bit of hook on it, but told you it was a wedge. Can’t be much more than 126. Dave, was it as much as that? 12 on. So, I’ll be about right. 126. Yeah, I think it’s pitching wedge. And I just It’s not a full one, I don’t think. But just try and land it short and let it bounce on the usual kind of wind for here. Edge will be fine. Then I should run out. Yeah. Oh. Uhoh. soft. Okay. Is that going to be down on the uh the other team? Did you cut shots out in the match? Uh no, we we actually replay them. Oh. Uh oh. Oh. Uh oh. It just it just went through the wind too much then. Yeah. I’ve been told this is the fastest green on the course. Oh no. This is not a nice pin position unfortunately. Just on no more. Want to be landing it in the fairway short and then just hoping it kind of trundles on kick. Kick all right. downwind or lings there. You got to hit in it and you you kind of you hold your finish just in case, but you’re kind of like just praying you. Oh my god, just be please don’t go anywhere too crazy. 41 41. I’ll try like the 50. So, a bit of height and a bit of r. And we’ll just try and get it onto the slope up the top here and see if it kind of shoots down. Remember, you’re into the wind here. So, just Yeah. Is it going to shoot that far down from the top of the hill? Dave, settle. Settle. Well done. Good job. Very good. Yeah. Excellent shot. Just what the dunks are ordered. That thing kind of looks like it should come this way or Yeah. Yep. Yep. Left or right? Not a lot. Yeah. I’m just thinking the wind might hold it as well. So, that was enough. Right at the end. Good for Yeah. Well done. Well played. That’s Yeah, just as it slowed. If if I had the pace, it’ have been all right. But that wind just was a little bit quiet as well. Did you see the way it just t Yeah. Well done. [Music] Don’t let yourself get lost in all that grief. Oh no. The ideal line is the the pole itself, the big telephone pole. Right. Okay. Right. Uh anything your bailout line obviously just the corner of the big bunker there. Yeah. So, and it’s going to get pushed that way anyway. So, I don’t know if you want to go with that or your money driver again. I think with the wind probably probably this one, I think. Yeah. I’ll try and fly. So that drive good line, Peter. I never was amazing. Yeah, that’s what I told them on the telephone call. Line was great. Yeah, line was great. I just don’t know. Just maybe a touch in into I don’t know. I’m not sure. 50° club anyway, I think. So, it’s probably almost full just based on the wind or not far off it. Yeah, slightly right. Let the wind do it stuff. Yeah, definitely. And the slope. Yep. Okay. [Music] Oh, nice David. I got it, Dave. Cheers. Tricky. I’m going to try and put a little bit of spin on this. Yeah. Well done. Cheers. Nice job. Bit of action on that as well. Thanks be to God. A little a good foot and a half. Little mark. I want to go on the inside of the in your money. 45 cm one in there. Come on. Come on. Come on. Good try. Good. Take away, mate. Yeah. Sorry. Swing. [Laughter] I was I was going to give you, but I heard that’s not good. Shooted from the crowd. Wow. Now I got to pick just one. So I wouldn’t worry about it. That soured the mood was it just show right we are that was that was the ninth. Mine holes done one up. Close match. Lot of like really good lot of good scrambled pars birdies. Overall, pretty good quality matching. [Music] Uh yeah, well I was I did my training down in Shropshire. Okay. uh down at Dushtshire and then Little Shaw and then a few places in between Stone and then ended up at Trafford Golf Center in Manchester which is where I started making the videos. It’s not me on the tea. You’ve got to let me have the bike in it. Yeah. Give me a chance. Lost lost lost in conversation. Sit, sit, sit, sit. I think it went into maybe. Might, it just cracked in. Ball’s going to be chest high by the look. That one’s fine, Peter. Yeah, you’re all right there. Perfect. Yep. Good try. Okay. Cheers. Cheers. Hopefully you’re just Yeah, some room. Fingers crossed. Yeah, just just balling out with the driver. You’ll be okay, Dave. Well, outside the bunker up here or something. Yeah, come out and get it right back even behind your right foot. Keep coming. Keep coming. Yeah. No, yeah, should be able to. I think so. Definitely a better chance up here than Yeah, definitely. Oh, I’m playing a baseball shot. Right. What do you think? Uh, we’ll just get It’s probably going to be either seven or eight. Yeah, let’s try eight. Shot. Great shot. Very good. Yeah. Well done, David. Great shot. A shot like that. That was a great shot. Worked off the slope. Come on. Yep. Look pretty good, Peter. Bit long, I think. No, it’s a bit thin. Yeah. Nice and slow this one. Yes. I was just going to say anchor on this one. Yeah. And then just we just leave the flag in. Yep. Yep. I think so. Flag it all out on this one. See if it helps it. Come on. Down. Left to right. Downwind. Let’s get a good one. Yeah. And the wind will have some of this in. Come on. Go on, go on, go on hit again, Dave. Just outside the zone of friendship. Yeah, I would actually was quite pleased with the contact in that one that time. I just obviously just outside give enough turn. Jeez. [Laughter] man. Okay, fine. Pete just thought you finally home. Well done, Dave. Cheers. [Music] See [Music] that bunker there from the distance 200. All right. Okay. Bunker. Okay. We are tied up. Uh it’s like two par fives in a row now. It’s kind of like the holes, especially these two par threes as well. It’s 1450. Just It’s such a cool course. Such an old 1786. 1786. Good shot, David. Can’t even see that. Straight up in the air. But yeah, long. Yeah, but 100 pass me, but good. That was What was that? Uh, that was a just had a three put swing. Guaranteed an extra 100 yards when you three put. 224 front there. It’s going to still be like the lie more than anything. 224 cuz you know what happens when you kind of. Yeah. A wee bit. Is it a wee bit behind? Yeah. Let’s hit the hybrid here. Oh, no. No. No. All right. W’s on the case. It’s not too thick up there. No. No. Just a bit wild. Cut it back a little bit. Can I Can I blame that? I don’t know. Yeah. 18. Yeah. 180. Yeah. That’s what I saying to you. It’s 26 on with 58 deep. So, it’s coming up that you can’t put the flag in too far in because of the size of this green. It’s just seven in from the left. There’s a pop bunker there. See where that pump is there? Yeah. That’s the pot bunker there. There’s a lot of room to the right then. Yeah. Got to wear the drone is not too much. It’s probably about double that on the right. Okay. That lands. It’s right on the button. Yeah. Yeah. Uh 99. Hold on. He was just proving it. Hey, listen. Hey, what what do you know? Right edge and over there. Yeah. Okay. If it been a good lie, I think the 56 would have been the club. It’s not too bad. Good looking ball, Dave. Come on then. Good. Yes. Well done. mate. Not sure if it maybe kicked on a we bit just the fact there was not too much applause from the guys in the button green. Didn’t have a lot to play with there. No, no, definitely definitely put away that some green. I know green. Cheers, buddy. Could I swap you? Yeah. Well, thank you. Have you had enough water today? Have you stayed hydrated? Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. Thank you. Right, we are well chance for an eagle, but yeah, big pot. I’m kind of basically going to go through the shadow there and just let it drip over. Yeah, the wind will have a little bit again to play with that. So, yeah, between the shadow and the flag. Yeah. Yeah. that short kept just kept coming at the end like that. We’re probably going to need a wee bit of a hit with the speed of the greens to kind of get it over and then down. It’s fine, Peter. Yeah. Come on. Come on. Yeah, there [Music] four Peter. Thank you. Well done. Cheers. Good four in the end. Yeah. On the bounce back. That’s it. It’s almost like a guarantee like you three boat. Two foot. I’ I’d love to see I’d love to see like the stats on a three port bogey conversion next birdie. Yeah, I reckon it’s off the scale. [Music] No bunkers down there. Is there bunker in the middle of the fairway on the left hand side? Big one that came up between the second and second hole. Yeah. See the hump? over that. Right. Okay. On line on the line of the yellow flag. Really, you want to just avoid that. Straight down the middle. Green green um the green water barrel at the top of the hill. Okay. Okay. Should be okay. Left of the bunker, I think. Yeah. Think about right, Peter. Yeah, just so it was trying like a low little low little chaser, mate. David, well done. Straight down the middle again. Cheers. Thank Dave. Straight down the middle. I walk across that. I realized as I did it, I thought you see I saw I saw Ian actually looked at you there before he did it as well. He looked straight at you. He was like I thought he would finish. That’s why I looked like you want to hit that shot again, David. Just hold your finishing. Just knock something down there. It’s a shame. I thought I’d maybe got enough of it to get down towards that ridge, but certainly probably makes the decision for me anyway to be like, we just need to hit it short of the burn. 180 shot, Dave. Yeah, you’re going to get no help in the wind. So 180. Is it we just hit like four iron? Safe. I think hybrid could get quite close to the bird. I think four will. Yeah. Hi Gil, Dave. Cheers. Perfect strike. [Music] Okay. It’s on top of it. Well, that Well, Dave, obviously. Yeah, you got it. I know. I was That was me rally up short of it, but Well, I am miles like you’re right. Yeah, I think the wind had something to do with it. Uh 216 uh middle. Just going to try and hit going to try and use the wind here. So, I’m just going to get a two iron and try and hit a bit of a cut back into it. Oh, beautiful shot. Yeah. Holding the finish off. Come on. Pretty pretty good. Yeah. All right. Yeah. Decent. Didn’t see it land. Uh it’s just Yeah, it’s just front right. It’s just front right. Struck it really well. Yeah, that was uh it’s probably my best shot of the day, actually. So, what we say this is a World War II bunker. Well, what happened was all that sea front there was all um mined during the Second World War. Right. That would been the Germans come could have come down that alleyway quite easily. Yeah. Yeah. And at the end of the second world war, they scooped up all the landmines and they took it here and they blew it up. Right now, if you speak to some of the old guys who are sadly past, they told always said they used to actually get stairs down into this bit because it was so deep. So over the years, we’ve sort of manufactured it and filled it up. When I started about 25 years ago, it was probably twice as deep as this really. But Bob’s making it Bob’s really done well with it over the last few years and he’s actually made it far more easier to get in and out of, you know. Well, I’m I’m happy we walked through that after that story. Could have could have told us that before we started, but Leo, get up. Ch up. No, it’s just I opted to go high in the end, but yeah, I just needed to give it more. Okay, I think I might chip it, but then again, yeah, let’s go uh let’s go old school. You’d put it from there, wouldn’t you? Um, would I put it from there? Yeah, you’re the link’s master. Ah, you got the hybrid. I do. I quite like my hybrid at times, but yes, I would probably favor a putt from there. I put me two iron today, so I can’t can’t test the hybrid. [Music] Oh god. Come on. Try. Yep. Lovely. Four. Good day. This is your time. That’s too far out to the right. A good one. Good way. All right. Okay. Good. Good birdies in a row. Yeah. Thank you. Very good. All right, back to back to two [Music] for the shorter hitters. My old boss used to call it a double dog leg blind par five. Yeah. 2011, Dave. Two one. Two one. Yeah. Downwind. Uh, right to left with the five on. Five on. There’s like a weird little thing in front of the screen, isn’t there? Like a little hump. But also where you see the hump on the right hand side just just between that and the bush. There’s a little pop bunker you can catch. I’m just going to try same thing. I’m just going to try and cut it a little bit to hold into this wind. Come on. Come on. Just off. Just shot. Yeah, I to that. That was a great fly. Terrible strike. Give me a hund more goes and I wouldn’t be able to hit it that far out the time. Come on then. Dave, come on. Get up there. Kiss up. Yeah. Well done, David. There you go, mate. Thank you. [Laughter] Just a wee bit. That never left the pin. That one. That was a great shot. 60, right? Yeah. This might go in. Yeah. Go for it. Good man. Yeah. Thank you. Well done. Almost. Almost. Mhm. Not quite what we wanted. No. Where are you? Oh my. Well, we can hopefully make contact with it. Get it on here and it’ll trundle down. Dave and he was short as well. Oh, great shot from there. Excellent shot, mate. It really was. Cheers. It slowed down nicely for me at the end. It felt like it was motoring a little bit. Not a lot in this. Yeah. Straight up there. Yeah. Oh, hit the thing. Take it. Cheers. Okay, let me away with one there, Peter. Take it away. Not great. Trick bar three. This one. Wow. Signature, I think. [Music] It’s about 140 maybe, but the wind is really strong. So, what you think? I am not sure. What bunker? Right in the very back there. Yeah. Right. And if you go too far left, there’s two little bunkers there as well at the back. Okay. I think it’s kind of like it’s into a bit, you think? Yeah, it will. Yeah. Yeah, I’ll a bit Wow, that looks so good. Looks so good. That looks so good. Bes had one hand in the air. Oh man. Yeah. I don’t know if it was just like cuz it was drawn into with that. Yeah, I was dropped out. Hey, green wreck. It’s all right. But more wind than you thought. Come on then. Go on then. Go. Get up there. Go, go, go, go, go. Try, Dave. Yes. Well done. Well done. Just pitch the top of the slope. Oh, it’s good. She need a good slow motion. That’s right. Hanging a wee bit. Perfect. I I know how happy you are, so I’m happy for you. I forgot to give you this in the first tea. And amongst all the excitement of our match, emergency supplies because I saw it’s maybe the wrong time to give you it because obviously I saw Dumbarney you drinking whiskey and then shooting eight under. So maybe I should be giving the whiskey right now. Homemade tablet by Ivonne who’s one of our team in the pro shop. Hello. Who makes 7 and a half thousand bags of these a year for our visitors. Absolutely delicious. And we sugar rush to keep you going towards the end of the match. All right. Heat. Heat. N. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] This is a heritage cave site. Constantine’s cave. According to local tradition, King Constantine the First, I don’t know how many there were, after the battle against the Danes in 874, it was in here and he tried to hide and got killed. or something. I don’t know. Two holes in a row where we just harved in bogeies. So, two up, four to play. This could be a big hole this one. What? By the way, look at that. How good is that? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Seal big boy. Bunkers are there on the right hand side. If you head too far past the flag on on the left, it’s out of bounds. So, it’s kind of like over those over those bunkers. Yeah. Now, in this wind, take it that line. Yeah. I would normally always go for the mast at the top there, the big mast. Right. Okay. With this wind, you can afford to just go a little bit further right. Right. So, mini driver is 260 or trouble around this green. So, I need to hit a cut just to the right of the pin is what I’m going for. Yeah. Come on. It’s okay. The guys up there. That’s worn up there. Just remember what you hit up. Oh god, that was good. Cuz what’s the distance front? 240 front. Oh, I hit that almost exactly how I wanted to. I thought the wind was going to push it back. You think still okay? It’s just one of those now where I’m going to be chipping down, which I’ll say has been my uh complete forte. That will be on that front edge. Yeah, it sound like it’s out of bounds. You mean it’s a provisional because it might be out of bounds. I hit it how I wanted to and I thought it was just going to kind of be down sort of front left, but it’s obviously just run on a wee bit too much. So, just anything can happen when the ball hits the ground, can’t it? get better. It was unfortunately out of bounds. Yeah. So, we are It’s no longer a provisional ball the second one. It is now in play just as well. I think it’s just like no way or something. Just keep it low and chase up the hill. I just get something a we bit higher out and just get it up there a we bit. Okay. 50 50. I’ll take 50. Sure. Dave shot. Do it. Good shot. Yeah. Cheers. No idea. No idea what’s going on this. All right. Uh, let’s get it up there. Between the guy with a half and the guy in the Yeah. top right between the two of them, [Music] [Music] go. Nice shot. Hold on. Not sure I’ll need it, but I was going to say you might not need it, but it looks a part if you walk on be professional. It’s all good. That’s it. Right. Give it back. [Music] Right. That’s dormy. Dormy three. Dormy three. Okay. I mean, obviously I want to win, but that was a bit harsh that that was tough. Nice strike. Can’t ask for much more, can you? Get the green keepers hell tomorrow. Grow that rough up a little bit more on that side. 162 a little bit uphill. See where the flag is. A little bit down. 23 on 33 deep. Okay. Now from the left. Yeah. You want to take it on to the sloping house. The the light blue sloping. Yeah. Oh, yes. Should be okay. Should be fine, I think. Is it? Um, yeah. Right on the edge, I think. Two 162 on the ridge. Wow. Or am I going to need 56 maybe? Yeah, I think so. Yeah. Yeah. Cuz it’s just going to as soon as it hits the ground, it’s almost in the point of that shadow. Yeah. Nice. Yeah. Too wide. Too wide. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. I don’t think you’re going to three pop up for me from there. I was tempted to lag it. Thank you so much for the game. Cheers for coming. 1. Great course, great golf, great guy, my favourite golf youtuber always smiling, great sense of humour and also had a couple of lessons with Pete back in the day, keep up the great work mate

  2. Normally, the prospect of a true links course terrifies me, but this course looks fantastic. Great golf lads – thanks!

  3. Great video Pete- you just keep producing them!

Played this course a couple of years back when up for the open at St Andrews! What a track it is! Special place

  4. I enjoy watching Pete so much, I'm even suffering the god-awful yanks and Portnoy in that thing he's playing in.
(a select few are decent, Wes and George, Chaz, GGG and Bubbie to name a few)

  5. I went to watch this and what a great experience. David playing all the inventive links shots and Pete opening the shoulders and hitting it long!! Pete and his team couldn’t have been more friendly and cheerful to everyone watching. It was a lot of fun and I’d urge anyone to go along and see one of his future matches. As you can see, the course and links weather was perfect!

  6. Not a sleight on Rick Shiels but how the hell does he have so many more subscribers than Mr Finch? Doesn’t make sense. Hopefully the American content will bring you the subscribers you deserve.

  7. Love ❤️ this series . Great content , great views / photography and music 🎼

Well done production team !! Well done indeed mates

Keep up the good work and the well deserved accolades will keep coming.

    Thanks for sharing !

  8. I've loved this series. Beautiful photography from the team, great audio and simple premise. If your job is to sell golf to people this does a better job than any $20m PGA Tour tournament

  9. Great video as always Pete, I’m hoping u win a few bob in the Million Dollar Inventational must be class to be part off the can’t wait for the final episode

  10. My favourite series and that was a smashing episode. Amazing course, crowd & caddies. Moreover, David seems such a nice bloke

  11. yeah good series Pete.. make sure its a regular… all the amateur stuff is great but this golf is "proper level" => well worth a watch… OH! => and well played… as is always the case its the bad shots that make the difference and he had more of those than you…

  12. You … understand very well what people want to see… golf… not much talk, other than the important comments, You got it right Peter ! I like it like that ! So, that's why I watch it !!!!

  13. Traveled from Seattle to play here in part because of your previous videos. Was amazing to say the least. Seeing it again in this video is amazing! Thank you!

  14. What a wonderful video. It seems like every video filmed at Crail is a gem. But this one is so gentle and kind, the course and scenery is magnificent, and the locals are so decent and knowledgeable. If they play golf in heaven – and they must or it would be hell – this is what it will look like.

  15. Fantastic content Peter, you must have a great team, but I love your fresh and friendly approach to competition, always a laugh and always honorable in the results

  16. Massive dispatagy in driving helps..
Even though the wind is an equaliser..
