Some golf days are clear and calm.
This one… looked like playing inside a cloud.

Today I’m showing you what low handicap golf looks like in proper foggy conditions — limited visibility, tricky reads, and a course that felt like it was revealing itself one shot at a time.

As a low-handicap golfer, I’ve battled through all sorts of weather, but the game’s in great form right now. The swing feels sharp, the putter’s behaving, and even the fog couldn’t hide some really solid golf.

Stick around for:
⛳️ Every shot shown — the good, the bad, and the slightly blind
⛳️ A stunning course made mysterious by the fog
⛳️ A low-handicap round played with form and focus

If you love quality golf, moody visuals, and seeing a round where good form cuts through the gloom — this one’s for you.

Like and Hype the video if you’ve ever played through the fog.

Welcome everyone to the lovely Nelson Golf Club and it is spooky season so why not throw in a bit of fog for good measure. I’m here to showcase a lovely James Bray designed course with some Alistister McKenzie nuances, some seriously sloping greens and normally some epic scenery. So let’s see how a low handicap gets on. See if my form returns, so to speak. Enjoy. Right, the fog is finally clearing. We’re starting on the 10th just because everybody’s been waiting. So, par four. Just trying to bring it down over the path. I think 400 y. Wow. Straight out the car and left straight into the tree. All right. So you guys know, we’re playing it up in the fairways because it is quite wet and I’m in the wrong fairway. Definitely clubbed some trees. I’ve still got 200 to the flag and I’ve got to go over the trees, which height is not my forte with the long irons. So um five iron everything I’ve got. Well, it’s over the trees. It’s going to be left side, but that was better than the drive, that’s for sure. Right. I might have just crept on the front if I was straight, but I’m just short left. But the last time I played this hole, I chipped in. Although my warmup has been non-existent, so I have no idea what the greens are like. Oh dear. Well, it’s an uphill power at the very least. Wasn’t great. Right guys, uphill left to right for par. If you do see some lovely chaps wandering around, that’s Dave and Andy who have kindly invited me today. Both made solid PS. So quite a nicely paced put by my standards, but it will be a bogey. Not to worry. All the best rounds start with a five or a bogey. Hokeie koke. Par three second or 11th hole. And the green is absolutely tiny. Really helpful after an early bogey. It’s 167 playing 154 I think. So a nice smooth eight iron. Not feeling the loosest. So, oh, too much draw going towards the bunker. Well, this is the result, guys. Um, this is tough. Who put this massive hump here? There is a bit of space behind it, but it looks intimidating. Wasn’t really intending to land it on there. Did it get down? Yeah. Oh dear. Interesting start. Well, I didn’t stay on top of the hump, but I’ve not reached the green either. So, another 12 footer for the par. But we’ll warm up eventually, I hope. Oh, that’s a bit aggressive. Not great feeling in the old fingers so far. Wrong levels of aggression, unfortunately. I’m struggling to make a bogey. There we go. Not great, but it could have been a lot worse. Bit of a loose start, but not entirely unexpected. And now we have a par five which is nice except it’s best part of 550 yards. So two good shots and some I think [Music] that’s more like it. Little bit up the left. Yeah, looks good to me. Mhm. Well, the good news is I’m in a decent spot. The bad news is I’m not in the fairway. Uh the lie is not good enough to get threewood on it. It’s still 270 and a ditch at 240 means I’ve got six iron. Hit it over these mounds. And hopefully wedge it on if I can. I’m laying up, guys. Sorry. That should be good up the left side. Hopefully open up the flag a little if possible. Here we go then. A bit of a naughty right hand side flag. So I’m just going to opt for the left hand side of it. Nice yardage. 89 sand wedge. Nice little birdie put would be good. It should be good for distance. Come on back down. Oh no, that’s going to be slippery. But we’ve hit some good shots. It’s all okay. Right guys, the order of the day here is rapido, which is Spanish for very, very fast. I might leave the flag in to try and uh stop my ball. A lot more right to left at the end than I thought, but I’ve made a part. I think we’re back. Okie dokie. Yet another sensational par three or so it appears. 148 pin. So, it’s too far for a nine. Have to be a nice little eight iron. Let’s see if I can hit one straight this time. That’s a bit thin skid. That did not deserve the bounce it got, but I’m happy with it. Right, judging off David’s put, this is going to be slow, but it is a birdie putt after a favorable bounce, shall we say? Not surprisingly short. That’s basically my putting game in a nutshell. That’s a tapping p. I’m happy. Couple of great visuals there. Thank you guys. Here we go then. Stroke index 2 430. Aiming at the green side bunkers up the right if you can see those. And hit it as hard as I can. Yeah, that’s good. Yeah, just slightly right of the bunkers, but should be okay. Oh, this is one of the great things about Nelson. Look at that approach to the green. Just to mention, my 290 yard drive has only left me 123, which is fantastic, but it’s not exactly a big landing area. I’ve missed it. Right. I need an exceptionally healthy bounce, which I’ve not got. I’ve scattered the birds. Not in a good way. Not sure what to make of this. It’s a little thick. I don’t think I can land this on the green. There’s also a sprinkler head kind of where I’m aiming for. Um, so I’ll probably just miss that on the left if I can and land it like that. Hit the flag. Yeah, just a bit too aggressive. That’s going to be a naughty parut. Right about 7 ft. A fair bit of left to right, I think. Not easy. Brutal start. Too hard on that line, unfortunately. Bit of a disappointing five, but that’s a difficult hole. Three over. Okay, it’s not been my most rollicking start, but long way to go. Par five. only short for 70 odd. So, if I can avoid that bunker up the right, we’ll be massively in business. Stay there. Right on the edge of the bunker. And I think it’s over it. It’s about 190 to the middle, but downhill. I’m hoping for a little bit of a bounce. I’ve got my sixiron pin. If you can’t see it, is just to the left of the tall tree. So, I’m aiming at the tall tree with a draw. That’s a plan. Let’s put it on the green. Thin again. Line is sensational. I don’t think we’ll be a million miles off. My fingers are tingling. Well, as you can see, the fog’s rolling in behind me, which looks cool, but damages visibility if that’s not obvious. And my tiny thin sixiron has done amazingly about 10 ft for the eagle. This would get me back on track. That was a terrible read. The upside is it’s a birdie, but the eagle put was nowhere near. Back to two. Okay, into the murkiness we go. I’m about 170 odd, but my rangefinder is not picking up the flag in this current cloudiness. So, I’ve got seven iron. That should cover the front of the green. Nice strike. I’m just drifting left of it. Um, maybe a bit short. Probably should have taken into account the heavy air, but we’ll take it. Normally guys, there is an incredible view down there and down the 17th, but the fog has seen to that unfortunately. Meanwhile, I’m just short the green, which is fine. No reason not to put this other than that my putting is not great. Oh, I’ve suddenly decided to be far too aggressive. That is unlike me. Good news is I saw it go past. That’s about the only good news I’ve got. That does count as a one put and a par three. Happy days. Right. Just a short par four here at 330 or so down the hill. There’s a bunker down there up the left which I’m trying to just hit it over. And that should leave me a little chip on. That’s the plan anyway. Yeah, just fading towards that bunker. Should be good. Struck that beautifully. Now, look at this crazy green. There’s nothing for short here. And unfortunately, my rangefinder’s got 4.2 yards. So, I don’t think that’s right. It’s 54 middle. Probably trying to land it there. Roll it towards the back of the green. Should be interesting. That’s not enough. That was the most uncommitted swing of all time. That’s terrible. Well, guys, I’m afraid that was absolute filth. I had no business leaving it short, right? And yet I did. Here’s a chance for a bit of wizardry. I’m just going to be quick once it gets on there. That’s pretty good. It’s just drifted on and went left to right quite a bit, but I gained some knowledge. Come on, let’s get out of jail. Self-inflicted jail, that is. Thank goodness for that. That would have been a terrible bogey, but it wasn’t. Right, guys. 18th, 9th of the day. Short one at 3:15 or so. And let it be known that Dave’s talked me into hitting threewood. I haven’t hit one of these in a while. Should keep me short of the bunker. 50 yard short of the green. Fingers crossed. Otherwise, it’s Dave’s fault. Bit left. Oh, it’s hit another tree. That’ll be another yellow mark to add to my collection on the golf ball, but should be all right. So, my T-shot cannoned off a tree to the left, but I’ve opened it up perfectly. And we got 92 to the middle yet again. I’ve got five yards from the rangefinder. So, it’s everything I’ve got with a 56. And try and get it back there if I can. Well, that’s all over it if it’s the right distance. Looks like it might be deep, actually. It’s good, though. Right, guys? I’ve somehow gone long. Just my huge muscles apparently. Uh, makeable. Just a lot of right to left. Oh, wow. Well, that’s gone. Well, I finished the back nine nicely at least. This is uh it’s like nightmares at Halloween. Just going over the uh marker post in front of me. Hopefully hit it straight. Little bit of a pull. Perfect. Yeah, not not bad enough to be in any danger. I think that’ll be quite good. Well, how spooky is this, guys? suppose it is that season. The pin is probably 10 yards right of that marker post and is 96 yards. So the way that the 56 has been going that should be ideal here. It’s a bit pushy at 15 ft right of it. It’ll be okay. It looked like the distance was all right. Right. Long a pin high on the green though. Birdie put. Happy with that. How cool is this hole? It used to be a quarry. Just a brilliant, brilliant golf hole. And in benign conditions is uh playing a lot easier than normal. It’s usually breezy. Zimmer. Simmer. Another nice put from me. Should be able to tidy up. Not a tap in though. Lovely. Nice solid four and one over I believe. Happy with that. Right. Another lovely par three that we can barely see from the tea box. But it’s about 164 to the middle. Short is the difficult one. So I’ve got my seven iron. Long is actually better for once. It’s a nice strike, but I started it too far right. Didn’t hear anything. Hopefully not in the bunker. Right. A wise man called Peter Finch once said, “Being pin high is a sign of a quality ball striker.” And that’s where I am. Safely aboard. Knew it was turning a bit, but over borrowed. Another decent putt, though. Normally I’m short, so anything a foot past is a win. Another solid par ticked off. Right, game’s in good shape here. And we have a very getable par five with a good drive. Can’t see a great deal, but that would be the case anyway with the landing zone being downhill. I’ll tell you in a minute if this is good. Don’t know where I’m aiming it. Well, that’s a little bit left, I would imagine. dangerously left. Not dangerous, no. Well, it shows what course knowledge is good for. I thought I was in a bit of trouble up the left initially. I’m actually in the left edge of the fairway. It’s about 150. It’s playing to the flag. Obviously, that’s adjusted for the downhill. So, I’ve got a little nine iron. That was very close to the huzzle. Actually, that looks long. Oh, it’s not. That was a nice tinge of what looks like sunlight down there. And also my second eagle put of the day. So I must be doing something right. Birdie here gets me back to level after a dodgy opening few. Sit. Sit. Sit. Shows how bad my putting is. I thought that was really good to start with. That slope’s a bit steeper when you actually get down here, but never mind. Five or so feet for the birdie. Not too much break in this one. Oh, it went left. Oh dear, that was a big misread. And three stabs. How disappointing. Still a par, just a bit disappointed. Okie dokie, gang. I’ve been reliably informed. drivers the play. And there’s a mound in front of us. And if I can bring it down on the right hand edge of that, we’re on to a winner. A little bit of a pull again. It’s on the edge of the uh the rough stuff. I think it’ll be all right. Just not my best. Not certainly not my worst either. Okie dokie. I’m so close to the green that I can actually ping the flag for once and I’ve got 43 yards. The difficulty is I’m extremely shortsided. I found the thick stuff for the first time today. So, let’s just take our medicine and go 10 ft right of it and just stick it on the front edge. Yeah, that was pretty good. Might be a bit deep, but I’ll take that. A bit further away than I thought. What? Yes, please. Pretty similar to last time actually. So, uh, let’s do a better job of this and get out of here with a four. Oh, it’s a brilliant pace and a dreadful read. Finally get a bit of a a glimpse of the lovely views you get here at Nelson. Come on. Right center, I think. stayed right center. Lovely. Take a fall there after all that. Probably right over the right. Okay. So, right over the edge of the path, the red bag up the left. Y keep the driver working. Yeah. A little bit of a power fade back onto the bag. I think that’s good. No idea though. Can’t see it. Cheers. I know this is a bit unusual. You can’t do much about the weather, but it looks amazing. It’s something very different anyway. And my drive was perfect. We have ourselves something like 90 yards, maybe just under rangefinder. Completely pointless at this stage. Or we might just accidentally go straight at it. Be the right number. Yes, it is. What a wonderful accidentally great shot. I mean, that looks pretty amazing to me. You don’t see that very often. Gone just past just on the edge of a down slope. Looks like it might go right to left and then left to right. So, straight. Well, I got the right to left part right. It just didn’t come back. Not to worry. Ticking off the pars again. I think we’re not in yet. I suppose solid. Another four. Still one over. Battling hard. All right, then. Back left pin suits me rather nicely. It’s a 167 middle. So 7 iron should be perfect is the plan. And draw it off the bunker onto the green. Roll round to the left and a tap in two. Oh, it’s just a tiny pull again. That could be disastrous. Well, I wouldn’t give to be where Andy is right now, but I would have been perfectly pin high had it not been for the pull. Very doable, though. I think if I can land this in the fringe, it’ll be pretty slow up that hill. So, we’ve got a chance. Lie is not dreadful. I landed it in the fringe. That’s good. Giant misread, but should be a straightish put up the hill. Come on. Uphill and right to left. It’s a nice looking putt for a righty. Not my best stroke, but it went in and I don’t mind that. Okie cookie gang. Stroke index one. Here we come. Luckily, the line is straight through the middle of the two boobies. How lovely. Driver’s been good today. So, let’s just hit another good one, please. It was a bit towy, but I think it’s very good. Normally there’d be a fantastic view of Pendle Hill here, which I’d like to think the channel is getting more and more synonymous for, but not today. I think we’ve got about 130 yards. So, I’m just going to feather a wedge off the right. It’s a draw lie. I’ve been pulling everything. So, here we go. It’s another pull draw just left of the flag. I don’t think that’ll be a million miles off if my distance is correct. Level par would be quite something at this point. No break whatsoever. Making myself unnecessarily nervous. Good solid four on stroke in X1. Could have been a three though, but it wasn’t right. No let up here. Best part of 400 yards up the hill, stroke index three. So, another good drive required. There is a marker post which I’m aiming for that you probably can’t see. Bit of a pull again. Don’t think it’s in any danger really, but just a little left. Right guys, your guess is as good as mine. I’ve put my glove down as a marker, but I can’t afford to go any further left than that. I mean, if that’s the right distance, that could look like Oh, I’m not sure what I was thinking, guys. Um, pin high, but way right of it. Definitely the better miss than left, that’s for sure. But I thought I’d hit a good one. Never mind. That was not intentional. It was a semi- douff. That’s done incredibly well considering how bad the shot was. And unfortunately due to the horrendous nature of that fog, as you can see, it’s a bit too dangerous to carry on after this. So, 17 holes it’s going to be. And I hope you’ve enjoyed watching. Seriously enjoyed playing and thank you to Andy for having me. I’ll be back hopefully when you can see a bit better. And this would be a a very very nice one over through 17 round. I’d be happy with that. Played nicely. That’s gone right. Interestingly, I thought it was going left, but nevertheless, two over. Still played under my handicap. Sort of. Hope you’ve enjoyed. See you next time. Gobash.

  1. The fog tried to hide the golf… but the form was too good 😎

Every shot shown, every swing a bit of a mystery until it landed.

Hit Hype, Like, and Subscribe — it might just clear the fog off your next round. 🌫️⛳️

  2. I love playing slow rolling greens. They favor the big lumbering Sasquatch mitts. They seem to give you fits on this one. Amazing that you are still able to keep things together like you do. That's the difference between you and me. You are a great golfer. I am a great Sasquatch. 😂😂😂

  3. Well played. I was enjoying it at the breakfast table. Pretty foggy conditions. It's brave from you to play the round with a white ball. 😄

I never paid attention to it until today when I noticed something strange about your first tee shot in this video. But I don't want to intrude ; it has already caused me "trouble" = block in the comment section by someone you know about 2 years ago. I've been keeping my distance ever since.😁

Well, but I guess you really know what I mean with strange…😉

    Salutations… 🙂

  4. This looks like an absolute beaut of a course Jonny! Some great golf on display also. Keep it up mate!

  5. Well played Jonny , always hard to trust targets in the fog , especially on a course you don’t play regularly ❤

  6. Great content, Jonny! Foggy conditions really test precision, the kind of challenge every golfer loves to master.

  7. What a difference holing putts makes. It would have been a higher number if some of those hadn't dropped in (to state the obvious 🙄)

I've played in clouds before. Freshwater Bay Golf Club on the Isle of Wight. As the name suggests, it sits on the coast and on this day it was overcast. As you play the front 9, you get higher and higher and higher, so by the turn, we found ourselves among the clouds. It was quite an ominous feeling.

If you ever go to the Isle of Wight, it's worth checking out. 1 of only 2 courses to have 18 holes that I can think of and great views of the sea, provided you're not surrounded by clouds ☁☁

  8. Great video and another good round. I gave you an eagle on the last hole you didn’t play. So level round 😂👍

  9. Shame you couldn't finish but you played some great stuff. I don't know what hyping is but I did it 3 times and it didn't hurt. Remember me when you get to a million subs 🏌️‍♂️👌
