Alex Ames loves the feeling of his driver but has less awareness of the club head with his irons. Luckily our expert club fitter Mark Woodward knows how to replicate this feeling and unlock his swing!

[Music] welcome to Precision golf this is going to be another one of our fittings with me today gentleman called Alex ases um give me a little bit of your background Alex a little bit about how long you’ve been playing even a little delve into your business and sure just give me a bit bit of feel for what you’re about sure my name’s Alex as I’m the marketing director at maners golf um that might make you think that I’m quite a good golfer but it’s not true I’m actually pretty bad um relative to a lot of my friends my my colleague at maners plays off plus five so a 12 handicap tends to look quite poor um I uh I got a fitting about four years ago and it was great for the time I feel my swings changed a little bit so I’m here to uh to take my my club set up to the next level see if that’s what’s going to drop me a a few shots of my handicap so just with reference to your irons tell me a little bit about the performance of your irons at the moment and what you’d like to achieve this time around um so basically I feel as though my the shaft on my irons is quite lightweight um I recently purchased a new driver a ping driver and when I swing it it feels like I’ve got th hammer on the end of it and I’ve just got all this weight and it allows me to feel exactly where the CL just is a matter of Interest I know it’s not what we’re doing today but what weight a shaft was that ping I don’t I actually don’t know you got it there yeah yeah only just because it gives me a feel it gives me a little feel of of what’s what I’m after what you’re enjoying yeah well the shaft itself isn’t the that’s a lightweight shaft okay interesting but the balance of the Ping heads they’re relatively heavy head right so it’s on the balance side of thing rather than sheer weight buts of things right so I I feel as though I’ve got so much weight up at the top of the club and I want to feel it at the end so I know where it is the whole time okay brilliant well I took some specs a little bit earlier oh great secretly secretly but if you want to come in here and I’ll just run through I took your six sign and I took the the pitch and wedge to get a feel for where they’re at in length balance the shaft type and so forth okay and also took numbers for your specialist wedges um in other words um your sand iron and your Gat wedge okay now if if I was to look at the numbers it’s pretty much a standard build it’s built standard length for tight list it’s a standard life of tight list it’s the modus 105 stiff which is a nice shaft not necessarily what you looking for now but it is a nice Shar yeah um loft On Your 6 iron 27° 6 two Li pretty much standard stuff for tight list uh for that model as well um your swing weights are relatively light if I measured the swing weight of your driver it would be a heavier balance I’m sure it would be it be more D3 D4 so what your experience in transition is a feel of the head something at the end of it that almost probably feels you can time it better is that right exactly right so just so you know where it is yeah so it’ be interesting when we start introducing different shes with different balances what you feel really good about the bottom line is we want good strike consistency of Direction because that’s what what you here for that sounds like nice stuff yeah but but I take on board what you enjoy yeah and if I have to modify it a little bit but we want to give you a good feeling we want performance pure and simple now what’s your view on the iron heads uh what what do you want to achieve from today ultimately it might not be achievable because I might think there’s a head head that’s better for you but but is it a case of a rebuild or do you think it it’s a more put a line under it and find a whole new spec I’m open to either I I would rather do a rebuild um part just so we get get a feel for yeah yeah what would be the perfect scenario but sometimes perfect scenarios have to lead you to something else yeah I’d rather keep the heads because I’m happy with them the technology is not that old I think no no no I agree agree I agree um and I’m under the impression that a lot of the a lot of the um personalization and the feeling of the club can be changed in the shaft yeah so I was interested in having look at a few more shafts so you’ve had your warm up what we’re going to do in a second I’m going to get some numbers off your existing six iron just a layer reference from that point I’m going to use the the up to-date T200 head of a similar nature of Loft and and performance and we’ll do some shaft testing with that head in mind and see if we can find a combination of the field you’re looking for but also the performance with it sure yeah great sound like a good idea sounds good okay brilliant would you consider yourself quite a high ball hitter not typically huh not typically no no okay I mean that was a little bit high on on the basis of being a little bit open but um yeah I sliced that a bit see if we can get a a better line never mind we’ll edit that one out that was a nicer move squared that up one a little bit better still a little bit open yeah been working on a drawer that’s not it yeah yeah okay that sounded wonderful that was a bit better maybe a little left to right still yeah what’s very noticeable um you said about trying to find a draw you’ve got quite a strong path out to in Al to yeah I’m desperately trying to get inside the whole time yeah now that’s where potentially you know this discussion of weight I’m not going to make the club overbearing for you but I do sense if it had a little bit more weight in the shaft a little bit more balance in the club it might give you that transition of well I finding it so easier it looks a little bit across it so much finding it so much easier to just feel when to yeah pull it down with the driver yeah and that’s why yeah I’m interested in seeing if I can replicate that in the irons yeah okay try that again couple more for me just I got a good eyesight now that one I would suggest is your best hit yeah that one felt a bit better yeah much more Central hit nowhere near as across it by the way yeah much more neutral in the path there yeah one more that’s my bail out at the moment is it Well yeah if I feel like I’m going to shank it squared that one up a little bit better yeah that felt a bit better yeah you can see where your general stri I’ve taken out the really the the the really swiffy ones but but left with the remainder there’s your strike point yeah still a little bit on the heel side but what you would say is well why I ask the question about do you see yourself as a high ball hitter obviously the square of the faces the lower the ball will go but your general launch angle of 22.4 is a high launch for this club number and the spin is a reasonably generous spin obviously the squarer it is the lower that launch will be the lower that spin will be but even so I still say it’s it’s a reasonably generous height if I was to eliminate the stuff a little bit further to to the um right for instance if I was to these two weaker ones will be raising that number uh if we concentrate you see the two side by side at the top there and there there there tells more of a picture on your better shot but you still got that very generous launch there 22.4 now ideally we want to hit it squarer we want to bring the launch down suddenly the spin looks better there for that launch yeah so it looks a little bit more efficient but I would still say there’s a little bit of ball speed missing there you know um to give you an idea for a head of this with a fairly techy head with performance if you look at the ratio You’ got lovely speed you got nice speed but it’s not utilizing the speed if that makes sense I would see you really as an Optimum speed put a bit of maths on that something probably near and the high 120s to 130 is a ball speed on an Optimum here the 135 smash for a headlight this is should be 142 plus type of Smash um for where the loft is and where the performance on that face is okay and that’s what we’ve got to try and Achieve um a good feeling for you try and get straighter shots try and bring the flight down sure yeah sounds good and that’s where we’re going to go co there’s that new T200 head how exciting that’s a dynamic gold one oh God they’re pretty aren’t they yeah well the bottom line is if you if you love it that much it then would be on a short list of heads that could be a good option but we’ll see how this goes because I think it’s the feeling the shaft and and what you’re looking for that’s the dynamic go 120 S400 we have there there we clean thin it a bit that sounded wonderful touch th maybe was it yeah yeah it was a little bit low on the head but straight away actually believe it or not heavier shaft and actually got a little bit more Club speed oh that’s that’s nice interesting oh yes oh my what just happened there that felt a hell of a lot better well your Club speed is faster but then when you couple it with a strike MH a 1345 ball speed and there I was setting ourselves a goal of high 120s um that’s a whole new ball game there I would say too high actually funny enough too high yeah if I was being brutally honest I would say launch and Spinner a little bit on the high side you found 143 ft in height you know but all the same the contact was phenomenal tell you what though that goes feels better might be well and not to be derogatory in any fashion it’s slightly variable in delivery right so both of those two strikes were very similar weren’t they yeah but your Del delivery your Dynamic Loft for instance was different on the two clubs on the two shots so where you found two very similar ball speeds very similar strike points but the previous one had 20.6 launch and five n on the spin this shot had 187 launch and call it 49 on the spin so it’s it’s a completely different flight the net result of that despite the similar ball speed is around about nine yards difference because of that flight change and why do you think that is uh because you a little bit more across the one before right little bit more across an open face creating Dynamic Loft and spun more and yet this one this the last shot was much better on path squarer on face and therefore ball speed was still similar fashion but the the launch and spin was Stronger more efficient yeah exactly that yeah very nice very nice almost like you took a little bit of pace off that swing EX what I tried to do I’ve been trying to but what I will say in terms of a number it’s a very very nice flight there and the strike was a little bit Hillside but you still got efficiency from it does that make sense yeah so the Miss was a let’s say a slight miss that actually projects quite a good good good performance really little bit more left on that got you got that squared up even better that will be obviously much further left yeah but what what I would say if you want to just look across this dispersion that I’ve got on the screen here not bad well you say the last the last one was just slightly overcooked yeah but wouldn’t you say that’s not a bad little start in terms of controlling the direction bear in mind I did Iron up iron out your think that’s lesser shots right I hav I’ve taken out the the strong strike that you just hit left but apart from that it’s pretty good pretty good yeah but as I said you had two different flights with two similar ball speeds very good quality strikes but you f found a different flight because of the variance on your path and face that’s ultimately it but all the same I still say that’s quite a nice I like the sound of the strike you got yeah it feels better already yeah yeah the next shaft is going to be mo 120x and let’s make a comparison let’s do it yeah that’s one way to start a party bit left right rather yeah yeah I was going to say looked up already that’s interesting isn’t it you didn’t come close to hitting that shot with the pre your previous shaft you really squared up really really nice have one more go hey wow no it doesn’t feel as good that well let me try one more sometimes when you introduce a shaft you you see that as a positive because if you strike it well relentlessly well with good Direction and then I introduce something else that is looks poor but it only emphasizes what was good about the first change so so don’t see it as a negative just see it as well it appears initially that the other shaft works better for you and that sort of played a little bit of catch up but it’s still nowhere near near the strike quality you got with the other shaft no over the top one one more one more for good measure but I think we need to to move on to something else as a comparison slightly squarer that was a that’s the rest of the pack but not a great but you did that on a more red on a r ready basis with the other shaft yeah yeah if you look at that comparison on the screen here what you did the Orange is the previous shaft this is the blue yeah it’s pretty chalk and cheese yeah so we we try the original Project X yeah very strong feeling shaft weightwise it’s of a very similar ter to where we’ve been so far certainly that that um Dynamic gold what I do in my demo Club There She [Music] is again one one of those that makes the head F on the heavier side yeah just contributes to the balance point there you go just put a new tag in there for us so project x60 this is just a little bit open but what I will say that was already a stronger strike than what you got from the previous shaft yeah definitely lovely squared that up really love really really nice there so now we’ve got an alternative yeah yeah similar feeling though isn’t it couple in the Runnings yeah definitely really efficient very efficient just try and get a draw on one of these a bit low yeah a little bit low on the head maybe but but directionally better very very sound in terms of PA and face there your angle attacks at times are a little bit on the shallower side Alex on the shallower side what so you so you you imagine an impact if you had sha lean downward strike your angle attack at times is a little bit little bit yeah yeah and and you know when we talk about you having being prone to the OD High shot yeah that can lead to that because you’re offering the shaft being a little bit more vertical than with a little bit of lean okay um not on that last shot cuz it’s a bit low on the head but but your angle attacks are a little bit on the shallower side but I like the way you square this up I mean you get good Direction with this shaft yeah this one how would you put it I mean forget the second shaft but how would you rate it compared to the feeling of the first one uh similar maybe slightly better yeah yeah more of a solid feel yeah solid yeah more of a yeah stable feeling let’s say yes definitely maybe more consistency oh absolutely smoked this one it’s funny because the yeah the middle one is just definitely worse not worse but not for me let’s say well it’s a very strong performance because the remember you hit the very first one yeah I said straight away you had more strike you left the first one a little bit open but I knew they was promising that because already they had more ball speed than any shot you had with that second sha right so on that basis when you think about what you’ve done last four shots not bad not bad at all how we compared to the first one the orange one well I think it’s a running in terms of bull speed I was very impressed with the bull speed you got with the first Shaft there’s one shot in there that’s a little bit low on the head um but collectively what we’ve got here bull speed average was 1285 with the dynamic gold and this one was 127 interesting so it’s it’s a close thing but what I will say with this the direction side of it better is better yeah you seem to if you look at your path angles what the where you say the the difference is in terms of path and face you were 4.2 out to in with the first Shaft and the face it was 3.4 open yeah technically that’s just a fraction open you work on the basis of the face being half the number of the path number right so if your face was if your path was 4 degrees your face needs to be two degrees open for that out towi in path uh what you did with this last one you your path was exactly the same number as a path of 4.2 but your face angle was 1.8 so the same exact path exact same path I a little bit out to in just a bit out to in too much well if you ask Le trino or Colin Montgomery that they wouldn’t they would say no yeah cuz we’ve earned a lot of money swinging that way or Craig Stadler or or you know yeah all the Craig Parry or you know there been a number of fantastic um faders of the golf ball over the years Jack Nicholas you might have heard of yeah right but I love the way this club squares up that was a little bit of a Miss but you definitely have a sense of the the club head and a little bit more ability to square the face up yeah and what’s also nice even though that wasn’t your best moment I still like the idea that the relationship between path and face is better yeah the worst shots your misses are much much better thees have then we got to take that on board because when you look at that dispersion still with a couple of Misses in there the pink still looks like the performer oh get a better contact than that you don’t go on holiday that that far do you but but that’s truly now how would you describe the sensation of that sha one stri is it a good feeling uh yeah it definitely feels more solid I I but it doesn’t feel too harsh no not to me no because some well a lot of times when people use that shaft they tend to overcook it so well I need an extra stiff and then they end up getting something that’s way too strong yeah what do you mean is this is this stiff this is the way I say they would describe it as stiff but technically it plays stiffer than that right um they frequency very very uh they they frequency stiff because the section under your hand through the upper section of sha is much stiffer yeah okay so let’s try and slow it down a bit see what that does oh just came out a bit low one more and that’s the only thing I will say that concerns me this is a fantastic performing shaft when you’re a little bit more Full Tilt that worries me a bit do you understand where I’m coming from because once you took the pace off of it it felt like you got a whole whole new um item in your hand yeah that does worry me a bit I have to say cuz I feel like I might be overswinging it’s a shaft that demands you I mean you got speed on your side so it’s I don’t often recommend this shaft but but you’re one of those guys with hard transition plenty of speed it and it and it fits into that sort of um profile you got but it does feel different now just because I’m it feels dead now slow it down a bit and I don’t I don’t like that cuz I I’m slightly concerned that I’m swinging a bit faster as a result of being in a studio you know yeah it’s one of those this is Rory’s shaft albe it he has Rory yeah oh Christ but not sure I’m that but but bear in mind his is heavier and much stiffer yeah the 6 Z is about the limit what I’d give you because I want like I said I air on the side of caution with this shaft I I I never I always make sure I give someone the next Flex down on this particular model because it can feel a little bit dead if you give someone too much too much weight and and uh Flex uh too much fre where it’s much tighter frequency so sure but but in terms of your dispersion and general direction I think you’ll say look it it in light of what you did with this shaft and the fact there’s a little bit still a little bit more right with the first shot the direction side of that was that’s was really really nice so with that in light what we what we saw is when you went a little bit easier it suddenly felt a little bit dead or may or let’s just say it felt slightly different yeah I’ve just got what is its youngest younger brother which is the project xlz they built a little bit more usability into this shaft compared to the original version I’ve kept the weight and on paper the frequency similar but I would just want to see in your eyes how it feel compared to the previous shaft yes I want that directionality that we had but I just want to see if I can give you a better broadstream of of shop making sure yeah can I ask is there a reason you use a six iron yeah it gets asked all the time it’s more transparent it’s nearer to your long iron spec it gives you a perspective of what someone can manage as a set makeup yeah it’s all one and good if you give eight ir and seven IRS out in a demo people will see an increase in distance yeah but it don’t tell the full story in moving down into the longer irons yeah felt pretty good yeah I mean he done a very good job in the fact that the face was actually a fraction close to the path but the path there wasn’t you know you’re 4° across your path was only 2° there well that’s better and with a square of face that’s why you saw a straight shot left as such yeah it’s a good good startop little bit open face there that sounded nice that probably felt nice as well yeah that felt like the best one yeah so you’re picking up similar numbers to what you did with the other shaft just tell me how it feels you know when you hit those couple of easier slightly don’t go like a don’t don’t become a complete pedestrian but but but you know play play picture a shot you know say you’re out on a golf course yeah and you you might want to hit a slightly easier one into the breeze you know get get get my get the imagination yeah exactly that not little bit cleaner not the finest swing that’s nice that was lovely yeah that was nice so so that’s a good demonstration where you took a maybe 3 or 4 miles an hour off your Club speed yeah it gives you a feeling of how that sha feels when we did that before it it feels a lot less dead than the other one that’s the point I’m making like a hammer but you still got the feeling of the club yeah for sure yeah so that’s why I gave you that shot you a hair more use ability across you know the broad spectrum of shots you might want to hit when you hit it easier it feels a bit better yeah yeah that’s a good example there as well not yeah you you’ve taken the pace off the swing but you’ve still had a very effective golf shot yeah very nice so these are like little knockdown shots now aren’t they yeah how far are they going out of Interest well give you an idea that was 6 mph less Club speed than what you normally find so in terms of your ball speed your ball speed would be down by say 8 mil an hour yeah if you if you add the eight back on top you’re very efficient you got a 143 smash at that slower speed so that little knockdown shots carrying 180 perfect that’s all I need for a six iron but that’s knockdown shot yeah that’s that’s that’s great you know on on your more Full Tilt shot there’s 1 191 1 192 well let’s have with this club yes let’s have another go at the sort of Full Tilt but what I’m trying to do is when you said you hit the easiest shots and I said how’s that feel he said oh it feels you said It felt slightly different as a club then this one doesn’t this one caters for the more wider spectrum of goal shot that’s nice maybe Rory needs to move to the little brother yeah yeah no and that’s why you know a lot of people moved away from Project X because it was always that more Stout feeling very very uh very stable shaft very accurate shaft but needed to you needed to load it funny enough do you know what they call this shaft what load Zone loading zone oh nice LZ is what it stands for right but it is is slightly different in in the way it performs the way it load you load that shaft and and it feels a bit more usable nice it just looks like you can hit those little knockdown shots here now yeah they feel better yeah yeah I I I honestly do feel that this might be the best one though really is a a very nice overall performance beautiful so that one you went a little bit more after it didn’t you yeah yeah back to your normal speed stepped on it a bit Yeah incredibly good dispersion it’s just one one of the ones that you hit a little bit easier but hit it a little bit left but apart from that it’s very impressive let’s have another little knockdown now oh just don’t knock it down that much yeah trying to be clever there another one of those not one of those but yeah that feels so good yeah it’s a good middle ground isn’t it yeah beautiful Direction yeah just feels easier yeah and there for me is a really nice Sha for you for the train I really like that it’s got more weight than yours essentially probably around about 13 G more weight in the shaft the balance of that club has gone up compared to yours your 69ine was uh D1 yeah yeah so you you you can with that feel a little bit more of the head yeah so is that can I I just that’s swinging at D just over D3 so explain to me the D system so is it’s exclusive to the golf industry but it’s a reference to the weight distribution in the club okay so here you got a fulcrum right you balance it on the on the cap of the grip and where that weight’s distributed it’s almost a combination of the weight of the club and the balance point of the club okay and the combination gives you a feeling what’s known as swing weight so this is heavier this is heavier and this it’s heavier in dead weight what’s this as a d D1 but we’ve gone up a good two and a half points here this is D1 and it goes to D1 is this as light as it gets so well in a rudimentary way just to tell you the difference between D1 D2 yeah if I took a D1 swing we if I put two gram of weight onto the head I’ve gone to D2 okay if I put two grams more it’s gone to D3 and this is D 3.5 that that’s a rudimentary way of explaining it however Sha contribut to that balance that’s a n ey does that make sense yeah so where your modus is more of a mid balance sha I’ve moved you to a sort of lower balance shaft that’s contributed to the feeling of that head it’s almost like the head’s got heavier when it hasn’t does that make sense yeah it does I just want to try and try my old club for a minute y cuz it feels now very light yeah but it’s lighter for two reasons though Alex it’s lighter in sheer weight of shaft and it’s lighter in the SW in the balance or what’s known as swing weight yeah yeah that makes sense yeah feel like I’ve lost the ability to yeah feel did you hit two yeah that’s not too shabby is it is that the yeah that’s what you’ve been doing with all those full shots and knockdown shots and everything else oh really yeah so it’s moved closer to the middle yeah good what’s also interesting is you even though you I mean that’s got so much better there look at that you’re not as across it and you’re not you’re not as open what that’s this so your path was 4.2 yeah for that whole set was 2.7 no way and the and the face angle is no is much squarer and therefore you’re seeing less you’re seeing less shape what was it on my what the iron that I arrived with uh 3.3 but 4.4 open wow great hence the reason why there’s more to the right great yeah here we’ve reduced the path a little bit face angle so good there that relationship of that to that means that your average shot is pretty much square super yeah how how are you finding the um so far is it an interesting experience there’s a lot of numbers that I didn’t know about but they’re starting to make sense very very quickly Mark’s got away with words you know he’s a I can tell he he knows his stuff he’s a he’s a facts and figures kind of guy I’m more of a feeling kind of guy so it’s nice to um nice to put some figures and facts on my feelings I’m sensing there’s a bit of a front runner going on here yeah uh Rory maro’s little brother I mean it’s it’s inevitable that I would be compared to Rory in some sense um so yeah that’s that’s what’s the front runner at the moment so we’re just going to draw a chalk line on this golf ball so purposely use a soft ball because when you compress it more it it it’s more likely to give you the impression on the face okay well done passes the club right now it’s that is so much nicer than my old clubs it feels so much better well the head is better I’m not going to pull you wall over your eyes yeah the specification and The Lofts and where they’re at are are the same but the where they’ve built a little bit more feel and sound the note of this head is a little bit sweeter sound than the old original 2 T200 you’ve got right so there is an element of the the Acoustics of this head are a little bit better than the older head does that make sense yeah yeah performance should be in the same place yeah but the Acoustics changed yeah that ball was softer as well felt felt like a felt good yeah so what you can say it’s very difficult to see uh but what I will do the top of the chalk Mar Mark was here yeah yeah and the bottom of the chalk Mark was there okay so if we drew that line like so that show you if the camera sees yeah okay that’s where I’m hitting the ball yeah well actually to be fair you see that’s quite the GOL seems quite high but it’s a little bit high on the head but it was still 29 bll speed it’s still car 190 there’s forgiveness in that head as well right but what I would say is the line Looks quite vertic vertical doesn’t it yeah yeah so where I had a vertical line on that ball sat down there if I if the ball if say say for instance your the head was too upright mhm the line will run from B bottom right corner to top left mhm I’m exaggerating it it wouldn’t be as drastic as that but it was subtle change here like so yeah if it was too flat in other words the toe was down at impact that vertical line is here so it would run from bottom left of the head to top right of the head to a certain degree right I’m exaggerating it by with my finger but but that’s the point when you look at your line can you see it’s a relatively vertical line it’s very vertical so in other words well yes because what it means is impact your Club is very level nice if it if it was toe up toe down so in this instance there would be there would be tilt on that chalk Mark right right so the L angle of this head is worth measuring because it’s a blueprint for where I’d give your Li okay cool yeah yeah great okay so just to summarize what we’ve achieved um so far today um we tested your RS you wasn’t happy with a feeling of it we did a fair extensive bit of shaft work yeah found a good shaft but didn’t feel that good on the easier shot then introduced its younger brother that felt a little bit well a lot better on the easiest shot macro’s little brother yeah yeah that’s it you got it so we we ran with the project xlz in a 60 120 G Built to standard length right but the difference between that and yours the swing weight’s gone up about two two two and a bit points so it’s a heavier balance in and more feeling of the head yeah the shaft weight has obviously gone up it’s about 13 G heavier um we did like the T200 the T200 head creates a good flight for you mhm therefore it was a discussion of is the new head that much better than the older head the subtle Chang in feel but the numbers will be the same with your head built in the fashion that I recommend sure um in terms of your grip you enjoyed the cp2 wrap which is a slightly softer texture um we’re going to go a hint thicker just to C for your slightly longer Fingers um and we’ll build it from four to pitch plus the gap wedge and then what we will do um we’re going to wrap this up now for the camera but we’re going to have a brief discussion on the wedge setup okay off camera fantastic but that’s how we normally complete our our IR P extra for that content yeah that’s right yeah yeah yeah but we we’ll look at the wedge discussion and we’ll tie that up but because any ironfit would include that discussion all right but I hope you enjoyed what you done any questions about what we did no um no I’m excited to try and get that attack angle a little bit lower cuz I can see that’s that’s um something I need to work on in the data um I love the feeling of being able to see where my head is at in the swing a bit heavier heavier Shar and that’s really what I wanted to achieve today so it’s been brilliant thank you so much no problem at all happy to help Cheers Cheers MK for all the guys who’ watch this film I hope you enjoy it um and if you do enjoy what we do please subscribe we see you again soon [Music]

  1. I'm glad he mentioned the variables of being in a studio and definitely swinging harder and faster …no one goes full tilt on a course …keep at it mate you'll move path just needs work 👍👍

  2. Mark is a legend – methodical and always seeking marginal gains – really enjoyed my session with him and his patience !!

  3. I love watching a good fitting video. It always amazes me just what a difference a weight of shaft can have. If you are not getting fit in this kind of environment you are potentially missing out on getting the best out of your equipment.

  4. With all the best intentions, they guy is a mid-handicap player and trying to force a draw when his swing is out to in. He's trying to run before he can walk.
If you play a fade then go with it as Mark says. Distance doesn't seem to be an issue and he's probably swinging at 95% ++ all the way up to 26:45, where he says he'll dial it back.
He looks like he's working on something too, in the down swing, which is good. Nothing a couple of lessons won't help him with.
Not sure he's fully clear on whether he wants distance or dispersion from this fitting – hard to get both, even with the team at PG being the best in the UK. Correction – at 33mins he's clearly after distance.

  5. For his speed he clearly doesn't need the stronger T200 but that's his choice to stay with the same heads.
I'd like to have seen him in the PX 5.5 prior to moving to the LZ, 5grams lighter granted so may not have worked.
Can I ask why lie angle isn't dialled in at the start? Surely that would lead to better results throughout the fitting?

  6. No offense intended but Alex needs more of an instruction then club fitting. For starter, he needs to understand the principles of Low Point and Ball Contact to at least get the essentials of face control first to get a better dispersion. With 90mph for 6 iron and just a hair slower the PGA average, it is a shame he is leaving lots on the table as he continues to play army golf.

  7. Thank you for this very informative presentation showing how heavier weight shafts can improve ball striking and feel.

  8. Brilliant fitting session. Wish I can find a really good fitter in my area of the planet that I can trust is more interested in getting me the best fit rather than trying to upsell me on an expensive shaft. I live in Scottsdale, AZ, USA. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

  9. Mark's approach is masterful and he really focused on what the client was looking for with real world outcomes that were proven from both numbers and the "feel" the client was after. Nothing overly sold or pushed. Mark even pointed out the differences between the older t200 & new t200 just to make sure that was known but he never push for an iron head upgrade.
