Construction on a new maintenance facility at Loveland’s Olde Course is moving at a fever pitch this week as crews race to complete key tasks before winter weather sets in.

“There are a lot of contractors out there getting a lot done,” said Mark Esoda, Loveland’s director of golf operations. “They should start moving stuff (Monday) to erect the building.”

Though there aren’t many golfers on the course this time of the year, those that do venture out this week will have to contend with relocated tees on the 10th hole and expanded fencing around the site, Esoda said.

The new maintenance building replaces the original 5,800-square-foot facility, which was constructed in 1960 alongside the golf course, but saw few updates over the years. The new 10,235-square-foot building nearly doubles that space and adds several long-awaited improvements, including an expanded mechanics area and a fully enclosed indoor space for equipment storage.

Construction on the interior of the building will continue during the winter months, with a projected opening date of March 1, according to Esoda.

The $3.5 million project is being funded entirely through the city’s golf enterprise fund, meaning it will have no impact on the city’s general fund. As an enterprise operation, Loveland’s golf courses are self-supporting, with expenses covered by revenues from player fees.
