Want instant results? These nine quick tips will get you hitting more fairways, playing precision layups and approaches, and draining more putts. No swing build required. Oh yeah. So, let’s get you playing the golf you know you can play. I’m Andrew Cullen. If you want to swing better, think better, score better, and golf yourself to life, subscribe here. So, I’m going to give you these nine tips in the order of which I play a golf hole. And I’m going to play the tricky six hole par five at my home course, Golf Club Mark Griffand in the beautiful Black Forest in South Germany. So, we’re going to do two tips from the teeing ground to the fairway. Two tips from the layup shot to the green. Two tips actually playing onto the green. And then we’ll get you holding those putts. All right. Tricky drive at this par 56 hole. We got water hazard down the right hand side. We got bushes and out of bounds down the left hand side. But we still need the length cuz it’s a par five. We’ve got to hit the driver, but we want to try and assure that you’re going to hit the fairway. So, two tips to help you get more control of the swing path and more control of the club face. Tip number one, grip it shorter. Grip it shorter. We’re going to lose a little bit of radius. We’re going to lose a little bit of speed, but we’re going to gain control of your swing path and your sequencing. And tip number two, what I call the no wrist back swing. So the feeling is we’re not going to use the wrists at all in the back swing. So we’re taking out the variability of wrist movement, which takes out the variability of the club face. So if we can get more club face control, more swing path control, more sequencing control with these two tips, there’s a very good chance we’re going to hit more fairways. So, here we go. I’ll make my practice swing. And the practice swing is going to look more extreme than the real swing. Here in the real swing, we’re going to have some speed and momentum. So, the wrists will probably go a little further. But this is the way we get your fairway finders. Okay, here we go. Short shorten the club face. Shorten the grip and no wrist back swing. Oh, absolutely drilled it dead straight. No sid spin fairway finder. Tip number three, pick a very precise aiming point. So although I’m just trying to lay up here, I’m not aiming at fairway. I’m wanting to play slightly right side of the fairway. So I open up the green and I avoid all the bunkers on the left hand side. So I’m going to pick the last thick trunked tree on the right hand side there. I’ll point it out for you. And as I’m swinging, I’m keeping the picture of the ball flying towards that tree in my head. So I’m getting a very precise layup. So tip number four, an inswing thought, but not technical. Look at the low point. So rather than looking at the ball, which can often bring a bit more tension during the swing, we’re looking at where we want the low point to be. Because if the low point is there, we are naturally going to strike the ball beautifully out of the sweet spot. Okay. So, I’m looking at that thick trunked tree during the swing. I’m thinking of the thick trunked tree. That’s easy for me to say. During the swing, the picture is in my head as I’m swinging. And my focus is just going to be slightly ahead of the ball. So, here we go. Think of the tree. Look at the grass. Look at the grass. Here we go. Nice. Perfect position. Love it. If you’re a little bit lost with your swing, confused at which direction to go, check me out at Buy Me a Coffee. I have 25 spots available for video exchange coaching using the OnF form app to get you back on track and realizing your potential. Okay, layout perfect tip number five, precision approach shots. I’ve got to know exactly how far it is to the flag, 69 m, says my Garmin. I’ve got to think of how the greens were in the first few holes. So, how the ball’s going to react. Are they soft? Are they hard? Are they fast? Are they slow? So, I think I’ve got to land the ball 5 m short of the flag here. They’re pretty soft. So, I got to hit it 64 m. My ball’s slightly above my feet. I’ve got to grip down a little bit then. So, I’m going to lose a little bit of distance that way. So, it’s about a 2/3 gap wedge for me. So, the precision point on the green, that dark green point is in my head from start to strike. Not thinking about anything else, not thinking about technique. It’s just that dark point on the green. Here we go. That should be pretty good. Go on it. Land short. Oh. Oh, just a little too aggressive. We just gone beyond the hole. Bounced a little bit more than I thought, but I think I was about 2 m away from my mark there. Pretty precise. Tip number six on shorter approach shots and chip shots, visualize holding it. It’s not just landing point and hoping the ball stops close to the hole. It’s landing point and visualizing the ball actually dropping into the hole. So, I’m just going to run forward here and draw a circle on my landing point roughly with my gap wedge. So, I would say it’s got to land round about here. Hopefully, you can see that in the morning dew. Then, I’m going to make my practice swing relative to that landing point. H. Yeah, it’s a little bit too far left, but let’s have a go at it. So, let’s break the swing relative to the landing point. It lands there. It rolls in the hole. It’s going to move a little bit left to right. So, it’s going to roll in the hole at 7:00 over the clock face, which we’re going to talk about in a minute when we get on the putting green. Okay. So, I’m landing it there and holding it. Landing it there and holding it. Here we go. Land it just short of it. It’s rolling out. Come on. Ah, it’s not quite a gimme, but you’ll see from the dew where the ball landed, where the ball rolled, the visualization rolling to left to right at the end and dropping in the hole. That’s how precise you got to think about these short approach shots. We’re not just trying to get it close, we’re trying to get it in the hole. All right, so here’s my original slightly overaggressive pitchup. We got about an 8 m putt back to the flag. And I’m visualizing the ball here. You can tell by the the roll in the dew here. The ball’s going to roll from right to left. So, I’m visualizing that the hole is a clock face. Tip number seven. If we imagine the hole is a clock face, and here I want to be dropping the ball into the hole around about 4:00. Come to the hole and I’ll show you what I mean. All right. So, straight at you is my putt direction. This would be a 6:00 entry point. So, 12:00 round the back, obviously. Here would be 3:00. Here would be 9:00. with this right to lefter I’ve got coming up. We’re going to be dropping in round about four o’clock. So, this again is the picture I’m trying to get in my head of where the ball enters the hole on the clock face. Tip number eight, instinctive distance control. For me in putting, I never ever make a practice swing. You can play with that, but I just trust my instinct to get the distance right to get the ball just dropping over the edge of the hole. So once I’ve gone through my whole routine of reading the putt and then setting up, instinct clicks in with looking at the hole two or three times in the setup and not delaying between the last look at the hole and getting on with the putt. You’re trusting your instinct. So I’m not trying to measure the putt. I’m not trying to measure the length of swing. I just trust my instinct and go for it. Okay, so here we go. So the ball’s going to drop in at 4:00. Yep, we got that. I just set straight up to the ball and get happy with my setup. I get leaves out the way. Any distractions need to be out the ways first of all. Okay. So, I visualized it walking rolling in at 4:00. I’m aiming up as precisely as I can. And here comes the instinct bit. So, I’m going to look at the hole once, drop in at 4:00. Look at the hole twice, drops in at 4:00. Go. Little shy. Oh, it’s right on the line. Oh, just came up a little bit short. All right, just finish off my dinner for par here. Pretty satisfactory five. But tip number nine, whatever your score, whether you had bad shots, good shots on the way, it’s time now to switch off. Smell the flowers. You cannot concentrate on a round of golf for four, four and a half hours. You need to have switch on time focusing on the sort of 30 40 seconds it takes to prepare for your shots and make great execution and then switch off. Enjoy the scenery. I am very privileged to play in the black forest in South Germany in this beautiful scenery and I really do appreciate the walks in between the shots even if I’m having a bloody miserable round. So tip number nine, smell the flowers, people.

My local teaching pro said looking at the low point (#4) was a terrible idea… Strangely, I still do it and strike is definitely much better..!! 😉
❤ – awesome tips. Watching your videos is starting to bring back the love of the game.
Excellent video as usual. Thank you.
I found the easiest way to get an extra 40 yards down the fairway is to walk forward to the Ladies tees. Works every time.
Oh well, hole no. 6…
❤ 😍
In my counting you made a bogey, not par. You hit driver, wood, GW twice and 2 putts.
