WITH over 60,000 set to visit Adare each day during Ryder Cup 2027, the council is planning to introduce a series of park-and-ride facilities near the village.
The local authority has advertised its intention to open four temporary park-and-ride sites which will allow people to park their cars and be shuttled to Adare Manor by bus for the duration of the tournament.
It’s envisaged one will be located in Patrickswell, while two will be based in Croagh, with these villages close to Adare on the N21.

A fourth facility is planned for the Mackey Roundabout, at the exit of the M7 Limerick to Dublin motorway near Annacotty.
The local authority is seeking permission for these using its own public lands.
It means it will be the role of councillors to accept, reject or amend the proposals at various district meetings in the coming months.
On top of this, the general public will also be able to view the plans at County Hall in Dooradoyle, or online.
For each park-and-ride planned, Limerick City and County Council has said it plans to return the land to its existing use within a month of the completion of the 2027 Ryder Cup.
In Patrickswell, the park-and-ride is earmarked for the townland of Richmondvilla on the west side of the village.
In Croagh, one park-and-ride site is planned for the northside of the village’s roundabout on the N21.
The other is earmarked for the southside of the roundabout.
The park-and-ride near the Mackey Roundabout will be located in the townland of Mountshannon, the council has stated.
