The King Gordon Ra. [Applause] What’s up, guys? We are here with Mr. Zayn again. He’s in the ghee and uh I am not as per usual. Uh, but we’re going to go into uh the one of the number one requests we saw from you guys on YouTube uh when we asked was uh looking at chaining escapes from bottom pins. So, you I go into one escape, my partner defends. How can I go into a secondary escape where I can escape my partner’s pin? When we’re in bottom side control, my partner has a standard top head and arm. One of the things we’re always trying to do is get a knee and elbow connection and lock a side guard where I form this Vshape with my knee and elbow connection so that we can start bringing limbs back to the inside position. If I can get that side guard, we can recover pretty easy almost all the time, unless my partner unlocks the hands and makes some drastic, you know, changes to to his configuration with his hand position and head position, things like this. Whenever my partner sees that I try to connect my knee and elbow, what he’ll do a lot of times is he’ll circle towards my hips, make it impossible for me to connect knee and elbow because he points my knees in the opposite direction of the escape and completely shuts down the side guard. Whenever I see this, this will facilitate a side kip and allow us to bring our knees in on the opposite side and then recover facing my partner. So what this will look like is this side. If from here we can go in and my partner has locked hands, we have we can get frames inside. I can bring my knee to my partner’s hip and I can kip kip kip and walk away and bring my knee and elbow together. If I can get my hands locked here and he tries to keep his hands locked, it’s it’s going to be a joke. His hands his locked hands go back lock his locked hands actually become a liability from here. And now we can go into a clamp guard, we can go into plat, we can go into all kinds of things from this position. So if I can get my knee and elbow connection, it’s going to be a big issue for him. The problem is when I try to get that knee and elbow connection, I try to scoot away from my partner, he can just aggressively circle towards my hips and give me trouble from here. So, whenever I see that I’m having a hard time locking up that knee and elbow connection because of the fact that he’s circling towards my hips, we’re just going to take a a switch of grips from post to my partner’s hip to post to my partner’s armpit. And the second that I see Zay goes to circle towards my hips, we’re just going to pendulum our legs out and away and go into a side kick. Get him to post that hand. Okay. Okay. So, what this look like is if you’re over here, we really sell the fact that we’re trying to go into a into a a side kip and bring knee elbow connection. As Zayn goes to circle towards me, he just kip, kip, kip, and he has to post his hand. If Zayn keeps his hands locked from here and he tries to circle towards my hips, go ahead. He’ll fall over over my legs every time. What he has to do is he has to unlock his hands. The second he unlocks his hands, we take knee and elbow connection on the other side here. So now when Zayn goes to relock his hands, he runs into the knee elbow connection. Now I have to clear the cross face. The crossface will likely convert to a collar tie or some kind of longer range frame. Whenever I see this, we just take a backhand frame on our own head like so. So when he tries to lock his hands from here, it’s going to be hard. Now, right from here, I just take two knees to the inside. When Zayn tries to lock up, it’s a pretty easy thing now to just scoot and shrimp away from my partner, bring knees and elbows together, and make your full recovery into some kind of open guard from there. So, whenever I see I can’t get knee and elbow connection, he circle towards my hips. As he goes to circle towards my hips, we just go into a side kick. The second we go into a side kick, he goes to relock his hands. We go one, two here. Now, when he goes to he goes to fight for position, it’s going to be hard. If he’s really trying to pressure towards me, I feel like I can’t just open my knees up. Then I shrimp, I bring everything inside. And now we’re ready to go in and go into all of our attacks right from there. So, chaining side guard and side kipping together, one direction to the other direction, and using two directions, left, right, left, right to make it harder for our partner to control us and going into escapes right from there. So, well, hopefully you guys like that. [Music]

dude you make everything look so easy , I will try that tonight , So your saying when my partner has side control on top , and follows my hip naturally to keep connection so I can't recover knee to elbow to start to recover guard , I switch my hand from his hips to under his girdle , (ribs) to "side kip" him over to the other side , as his leverage will dictate correct ? Please answer Gordo 🙂 thanks bud !
is it effective to use that kip or any other offbalance to that side when opponent tries to mount?

In the gi I usually get stuck in bottom side control when my opponent doesn’t lock hands from crossface and underhook.
Instead my opponent's right arm holds my right pant near my thigh, pressures his head into my chest with high hips.
So tough to escape without using excessive and explosive force.
