Patrick Reed isn’t ready to fade quietly into golf’s background.
The 2018 Masters champion still believes he can complete the career grand slam — a feat only six players in history have managed — and he’s not shy about saying it.
Despite owning just one major title and having largely drifted out of contention on the biggest stages, Reed, 35, insists he has both the game and the mindset to make golf history.
For many fans, that’s hard to believe.
Reed’s form in the majors has been inconsistent at best since his win at Augusta National seven years ago.

The American’s standout results remain a runner-up finish at the 2017 PGA Championship, fourth at the 2018 US Open, and 10th at The Open in 2019.
But if there’s one thing Patrick Reed has never lacked, it’s confidence.
Patrick Reed still believes
The LIV Golf star — nicknamed Captain America for his past Ryder Cup heroics — teed it up in all four majors this season.
He impressed with a solo third-place finish at The Masters, before missing the cut at both the PGA Championship and The Open, and finishing T23 at the US Open.
For a player whose form has been patchy, that Masters performance was a reminder that Reed can still summon his best when the stage demands it.

And he insists that another major win isn’t beyond reach.
Speaking to bunkered ahead of a T31 finish at the Link Hong Kong Open on the Asian Tour, Reed laid out his ambitions in typically defiant fashion.
“That’s definitely the goal,” replied Reed, when pressed whether he’s still got another Green Jacket in him.
“The goal is still, obviously, to win the career grand slam, but I feel like the game’s solid enough.
“The biggest thing is just to keep on giving myself opportunities.

“You keep having high finishes at Augusta or any of the majors; all you need is just one or two shots here or there, and you have another one.
“We definitely feel confident around that place, and hopefully we can tap into that really good mojo I had last time and go get another win.”
The rarest club in golf
Reed’s dream would see him join an all-time elite list: Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Rory McIlroy — the six men who have conquered all four majors.
McIlroy became the most recent addition in April when he finally claimed his long-awaited Masters title, completing his Slam at the same age Reed is now.
It was one of the defining moments of the 2025 season, and Reed admits he wants a piece of that same legacy.

Yet history suggests the odds are stacked against him.
Of those six icons, only Ben Hogan was older — 41 — when he sealed the career grand slam.
Reed, now 35, has played 14 professional seasons and has just one major trophy to show for it.
A question of time
Reed’s self-belief remains unshaken, but the challenge ahead is immense.

His world ranking has slipped in the LIV Golf era, and without access to ranking points or consistent high-level fields week to week, earning invitations to majors in the future may become even tougher.
Still, Reed has made a career out of defying the doubters — from his college controversies to his Ryder Cup fireworks.
He’s never been one to bow to public opinion, and he’s clearly not starting now.
Whether his conviction is misplaced or prophetic remains to be seen.
But one thing is certain — he’s never stopped dreaming big.
