Brandon Isert on the mound to try to close it out. Anthony Bolby will lead off 0 and one. [Music] [Applause] One and one. Yankees need a base runner to allow them to get to Judge. 8 N and one. And Judge would be number four. [Applause] line into left center field. It’s a base hit for Vulpi. Cutting over is Robertson. Cuts the ball off and Bulby will stop it first with a leadoff single in the bottom of the ninth inning. Tying runs on. Well, it’s a good start, but I tell you one thing, Mike, I have seen so many good plays by the White Socks at keeping the Yankees at staying at first base. And this is all about the route of the baseball. kind of rounding it off to put yourself in a throwing position and keep Anthony Bolby at first base. Bulby with two more hits. Here is Austin Wells. misses outside. [Applause] Heard 27 years old, second big league season. The lefty deals 2 and 0. He’s 6’2, but has an extension of over 70 ft. Top 20% of pitchers and getting chased outside the zone. Wells is resisted. The two three and 0. [Applause] That’s a really good time for Anthony Vulpi to get off, hop around, cause some confusion out there for Iser. Need one more ball. Now, this is not really the guy you bring in for the lefty lane. left-handers at 267 against him with a 754 OPS and the pitch popped up behind the plate and out of play. [Music] He got a good pitch right in the strike zone. Just a little bit late and under it. Wells collecting his thoughts. He doubled in second. One for three. Bothies at first. Nobody out. Bottom of the ninth. Yankees down by one. That’s a good thing right there. If I’m Anthony Vulpi, I’m getting a lead and I got a one-way lead going back. But just to try to get some attention from Iser, then forget about trying to throw a strike. drilled right down the right field line, but it hooks foul against the facing of the second deck [Music] [Applause] and the payoff line drive. It’s a base hit to right field. Bulby advances to second. Yankees have the tying run and the winning run on base. Well, you talk about a super at bat. I mean, to get ahead in the count and then fight back 3-2 and this line one to right field. Great at bat by Austin Wells. And a trip to the mound to talk with Iser who will have to deal with Trent Gisham at the plate. Trent Gisham has had a lot of big home runs for the Yankees this year, Paul. He’s had a lot of home runs and a lot of home runs late that ended up being game wins. So, is he in the right spot? We’ll have to wait and see. One thing, he’s in the spot right in front of Aaron Judge if you’re watching from on deck. That was on August 9th and he has had some big hits. He’s had a big season and he just got a scout report from Austin Wells who just saw a lot of pitches from Iser. Yeah, Iser threw him a lot of fast balls. One off speed pitch that he hooked foul down the line, but everything else was hard and away. Yankees looking to rally and clinch a postseason birth. Top of the ninth inning in Toronto and the Red Sox lead four to one. [Music] So the Yankees could clinch and maybe move to within one of the first place Toronto Blue Jays. [Applause] Dumb ball second base. There’s one on to first. It’s a double play. Moving to third is Vulpi. [Music] And that took the air out of the crowd and the oomph out of the rally. Let’s see if they pitch to Judge. Looks like Will Venibal is going to intentionally walk Judge. And because of that double play, Aaron Judge is going to have the bat taken out of his hand. But Cody Bellinger has stayed in there well against lefties all year. Bellinger’s been great against lefties. He’d been great with runners in scoring position. A big moment for him. Bottom of the ninth inning, first and third, two men out. Yankees down by one. He has been in a slump of late. He is 0 for his last four, two for his last 19. And the pitch one and0. Cabayro is on deck against lefties. He hits 356. Vulpi’s a tying one at third. Judge the winning one at first. [Music] Two and0. Oh, he called a late strike. One and one. A late strike by Cousy. Again, that high strike is uh been to his liking tonight. Ball’s probably clearly in the zone. Yep. Two and one. [Music] runners lead and the pitch. Yankees down to their final strike. So that was the big cut by Bellinger. Now he changes to a two- strike approach. Yeah, whole left side of the infield is open. And if he could hit that hole with the short stop [Applause] and the pitch count is full. So that releases Judge at first. Vulpi stays put at third. 3-2, two outs. Really tough situation where you you just assume the pitcher is going to throw a strike. You still have to stay in the strike zone if you’re Cody Bellinger. Payoff. Popped up behind the plate and out of play. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Tension building at Yankee Stadium. They clinch a postseason birth with a win [Applause] and the payoff all the way to the back stop. Here comes Bumpy. He scores and the Yankees have tied the game at two. A walk to Bellinger. Judge moves to second. It’s a two two game. [Applause] I don’t know if that’s a way right in the script, Michael, but the fans seem to like it. There’s a way to get him in. Let the picture blow onto the screen. Back by Bellinger. [Applause] And there goes Vulpi with the tying run. And that wild pitch knocks out Iser. Cannibal will go to the bullpen to bring in a righty to face Cabayro. And as Paul said, this is not the way you draw it up in your dreams, but you’ll take the run whichever way you can. 22. The Yankees have an opportunity to win it when we get back. How about at the plate? Steven Wilson comes on and you see his numbers. 3.11 for the season. Kabayro’s at the plate. Judges at second. Bellingers at first. The game is tied at two. Bottom of the ninth inning. [Applause] Wilson deals outside. [Music] Most of the crowd standing, waiting for a big hit. And the one dropped the breaking ball in for a strike. One-on-one. Kabay came in in the eighth inning as a pinch runner for Rice. [Music] The one-1 fouled it straight back. One and two. Wow. He had a good pitch to hit right there. First fast ball he’s seen in the count and fouled it straight back. [Music] Wilson, 31 years old, fourth big league season. Had a 1.59 RA over his first 30 games, but 4.73 in his last 27 games since July 12th. Big spot for him. Six White Sock pitcher used [Applause] and the one two. Two and two on Cababayro. Bedar getting ready if there’s extra innings. Judge at second. Bellingers at first. Two outs. Two count. [Applause] fouled away. [Music] Wesson likes his slider. Was very surprised to actually see a fast ball there. [Music] [Applause] [Music] foul off that breaking ball. [Music] Cabaro has been an energizer for the Yankees. Big stolen base guy, but a big moment for him to win it with his bat. came over and a trade at the deadline. Not could play hero here on this Tuesday night in the Bronx. 22. Foul ball. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Cabayro has never had a career walk-off hit. The 2-2 popped up right side. Long run for Fletcher. He runs out of room. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Cabbro taking deep breaths trying to stay calm. Wilson wants a new baseball. [Music] This will be the ninth pitch of the at bat coming up. [Applause] And the pitch looped into center field. Coming on Taylor. He’s not going to make the play. Here comes Judge. He’ll score. And the Yankees are going to the postseason. Kabayo drives in. Judge. The Yankees with two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. And they’ve clinched the postseason birth for the 60th time in their history. Well, no career walkoffs on Michael. You got one now. And Yankee fans, get your playoff tickets because the Yankees are back. Very surprised Taylor did not go for this ball. It was pretty much all or nothing in center field. But what an at bat for Cabayro. What a comeback for the Yankees. Wild pitch scores Vulpi to tie the game. And then Cabaya with a dunker into center field to score Judge. And the Yankees will celebrate another trip to the postseason. Wow, they waited a long time, Michael. We were waiting for something to bust loose, but somehow someway they got it done. And again, the American League East is still up for grabs by this big Yankee win. Yeah, if it holds up in Toronto, they could move to within one of the Blue Jays with five games remaining. Kayo started the season with Tampa Bay. Now he’s helping the Yankees get to the postseason. Yeah, off the end of the bat, very surprised. I mean, he thought he knew it right off the bat. I thought Taylor had a shot if he possibly would dive cuz he’s not going to throw Aaron Judge out with two strikes on contact, but that’s when the celebration starts. That was a good at bat, Paul. He battled a lot of tough. Unbelievable. I saw fast, saw sliders. You see, he kind of hesitated there instead of going for it. No chance to get Aaron Judge. You’re better off just all out forward diving and giving yourself a chance cuz on the crack of the bat, Aaron Judge with two outs is off to the races. [Applause] Check out the joyous reaction of the Yankees as they wave Judge home and they go and celebrate with Cabayro. Another postseason birth for the New York Yankees. They played great baseball since the middle of August after that rough stretch and now a celebration is on. Yeah, that was a tremendous at bat by Cababierro. fouled off sliders, fouled off fast balls, ended up putting the ball in play. Somehow someway they scored and the Red Sox just beat the Blue Jays four to one. So the Yankees are within one in the American League East [Applause] and Meredith Morocitz is in front of the Yankee dugout and let’s go down to her. Thank you, Michael Jose. Nine pitch battle there with Steven Wilson. How were you able to stay alive till you found a pitch you could hit? You know, it’s a big moment for me. Uh, we needed the win. It’s the is the game to to cleanse the postseason. Here it comes. How does that feel? Really good. Really good. If we cleanse the postseason and I get the shower every day, I take it. How personally satisfying is it to know that it was your hit that helped this team clinch the postseason? It’s it’s an honor, but I’m just happy for the team that we clean to the postseason and it’s big thing for us ahead. So, we are really happy. Hey, how were you able to so seamlessly fit in with this group in this clubhouse since coming over in the trade? It’s easy whenever this club uh club guys uh include you in everything and it’s a team win. So, it’s just easy to fit in. Any doubt that Aaron Judge was scoring on that play? No doubt. No doubt. You saw me just jog into first. I knew he was scoring. Hey, this team has had some ups and downs throughout the course of this season, but why do you think you guys could make a run this postseason? Just because of the chemistry that we have and how much we want to win this thing. Are you going to celebrate a little bit in there, Jose? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. We’re ready to celebrate. I’ll let you get after it. Thank you.
