Believe it or not, the Speedsoft and INK come out of different factories. Does this mean there will be a difference in performance? I do a deep dive and compare the three Speedsoft models to find out what those differences are.
In this video, I break down the TaylorMade SpeedSoft golf balls and test the differences between the standard white, yellow, and INK versions! I compare feel, spin, control, and distance performance to see which version of the SpeedSoft delivers the best results on the course.
As a bonus, I also test the TaylorMade Distance+ golf ball to find out how it stacks up against the SpeedSoft lineup in terms of distance, launch, and overall playability. Whether you’re a mid-handicap golfer, beginner, or just curious which TaylorMade golf ball suits your game, this review covers it all.

What is up my fellow golf ball addicts? Welcome back to the channel. I have some Tailor Made reviews for you today. We are doing three variations of the Tailor Made Speed Soft. More on why we’re doing that in just a second. And then I also at last minute kind of snuck the distance plus in there because a lot of you have been requesting it and so I snuck it in for a quad review. Let’s dive right in. Guys, as always, thank you so much for all the support on the channel, the liking, the commenting, the subscribing. It helps so much. If you decide you want to help this channel further, you can always uh join our membership. It just starts at a dollar a month, so it just helps me provide more content. We also have a GoFundMe, which is a link in the description, which is for next year’s testing as far as new clubs, new facility, maybe a new launch monitor, all kinds of different stuff that might help us, you know, get this channel even further. Thank you so much. If you can’t afford that right now, I completely understand. Just watching and liking, commenting is enough for I really do appreciate it. So, why three different versions of the same golf ball? Well, I’ve never really done that before. Um, in the past, I’ve done like, you know, the Qstar Divide, which is, uh, you know, a matte golf ball compared to the Qstar Tour, which is a, you know, reg, you know, like a urethane. So, it’s a little bit different. Um, but this is the first time I’ve ever actually just the same model golf ball done color variations and design variations. The reason for that is because about a year and a half ago when I tested the original Speed Soft, a lot of you came forward at the time and said, “Hey, Nick, don’t know if you know this, but the ink and the regular white and yellow version come out of different factories.” And I didn’t know that at the time, but sure enough, they do. A little interesting. I’m not sure why that is. Uh, it seems like that would leave the door open to different possibilities. And a lot of you wondered about that, and so that’s why I’m testing these variations. You got to look at it kind of like McDonald’s, right? You can go to a McDonald’s on Third Street and order a Big Mac meal, but then you can go to another McDonald’s across town and order the same Big Mac meal and it might be two totally different experiences. Even though it’s the same ingredients, even though it’s the same franchise, management matters, who’s working it, who’s cooking it, how much love’s put in it, all that stuff. And so, I just want to test them and I want to see if there’s a difference. So, the Speed Soft and the Distance Plus are two-piece models. Uh, one of them is a little bit more of a medium compression as far as the Distance Plus. The other one is more of your like really soft, maybe a senior ball. We’ll see. uh but sub50 compression. In fact, if we look at pricing and design here, I’ll pull up this chart and show you. As you can see, you know, the Speed Soft comes in at a price point of $25 a dozen, which is a little high for a two-piece. I mean, for AAA, that’s kind of become the normal. The Super Softs around that. Um I think it is a little pricey considering we know there’s golf balls like the Boost and stuff like that you can get for $10 a dozen. Even the distance plus on the end there is only 20 to 22. You can do either 22 a dozen or two for 40 at most places like Dick Sporting Goods and PJ Superstore. Looking at the compression, you know, sub50 is all it’ll tell me. So, it’s a very, very soft when it comes to the speed soft, but 77, that’s more of a medium compression when it comes to the distance plus. So, I expect the distance plus to have a little more pop when it comes to the 7i, when it comes to the driver. All two layers, all ionr, all 322 dimples. If we look at the color options, as you can see, the regular speed soft comes in either a pink, white, or yellow. Three really good colors, honestly. Then, when we look at the distance plus on the end, it’s just white and yellow. And if we look at the ink, they all are a white golf ball at their core, but they come in four different color variations of that splatter paint design. They come in blue, orange, green, and pink. So, you know, different design options, which is great. Maybe that justifies the price a little bit here. Let’s go ahead and just look at the design of the golf ball in general here. If we look at the front of these, they all have the same tailor made logo, just, you know, I mean, kind of vanilla, but it is what it is. Different numbers there. As you can see, I have a yellow when it comes to the distance plus as well. Then let’s look at the alignment tools. So let’s start with the uh speed soft here. Just the regular white and yellow on the left on the far left there. Not bad. Um if I hold this up to the camera, as you can see, it gets the job done. You can definitely see it pretty clear. So I like that a lot. Now when we look at the ink version, however, now things kind of change because there’s so much going on. Even though it is really thick and I like that if I hold this up, you can see it, but it kind of gets muddled because your eyes, the peripherals want to see all these little paint splatters and so it’s a little hard to read. And a couple of you have commented on that as well and said it’s kind of hard to read cuz there’s just a lot going on. Now, when we get to the distance plus, this is my favorite, as you can see on the far right there. This is my favorite one because it’s really thick. It’s bold. It’s easy to see, but it also has the perpendicular line so you can line the face up. You can either line your putter face up with it or you can line your driver face up. You can put this on the tee and line your driver up with it as well. If I hold that up, that is a thing of beauty. You can see it clear as day. I also do want to make a point. These yellow versions are kind of a crystal type finish. They have a glitter to them. They’re not just like a normal yellow. They have a little bit of glitter in there. So, they do really shine in the sun. So, as far as design goes, that’s what we’re looking at. Let’s go ahead and go out to the chipping and putting green and let’s see how these stop and do around there. All right. Starting with the white speed soft. Now look, I don’t expect there to be a huge difference between the yellow and the white when it comes to green side. But if there’s any m I’ll just test them together. If there’s any major differences, I’ll let you know. I’ll try to see if there’s a feel or something. But let’s go ahead and test here. Okay, very soft. Wow. Actually, a really soft landing. That’s actually kind of impressive. It actually had some stopping power on that. Uh let’s go again. Oh, again. Really soft. Look at that stopping power. I mean, that’s that’s impressive. That’s a two-piece golf ball right there. That is maybe not stopping on a dime, but close to it. Wow. Really soft touch. I mean, that ball, I opened the face and it jumped right. There’s actually some rotation and bite on that ball. That’s impressive. So, now let’s see if it’s the same thing with the yellow. I really hope so, because, you know, a lot of people need a two-piece golf ball that actually has a little bit of rotation. So far, I’m impressed with what I see. Okay. Whoa. That Okay. Again, soft landing. I might have caught it a little too heavy, but it felt like it had a little more spring on it. It does. It It has more spring for sure. Um I had to take a little off of that one. So, they are pretty close, but I would say the yellow just has a little bit more bouncy ball in it. It just pops off the club a little more. Not much, very marginally, but enough to where I could tell the difference. I love the stopping power. I love the soft feel, minimal feedback. Now, I might have caught that one a little different. As you can see, it rolled to the back. Okay, so let’s see if there’s any difference between the ink considering that it comes out of a different factory. Okay, actually a pretty hard roll out. Um, might have mish hit it one more time. Huh. Okay, interesting. So, my first I mean feel is pretty close to the same, but I’ll be honest, I think this golf ball had a lot more spring to it. I’m going to test it here one more time. I just cleaned the face, got it nice and dry. I mean, just as dry as can be. There’s definitely more roll out on that ball for sure. The other one had some tug. It was actually kind of soft, bouncing, and rolling, coming to a stop quick. This one’s not not the case. Okay. So, I actually got some left jump on that one. So, there’s small discrepancies, but I will say these golf balls spin more than a lot of two-piece I test. If you’re someone who is concerned about the green side, this is one of the highest spinning two-pieces around the green, at least I’ve seen in a while. So, that’s impressive considering the price point. Mishit it. Yeah. So, that’s the other problem. You misit it, there’s no spin at all. So, you got to be careful with that. But okay, moving on to the distance plus. Nice. Yeah, pretty pretty fair roll out. Not really much spin at all. Not much rotation, not much tug. Yeah. I mean, this Yeah. Yeah. No, actually, I think I like the Speed Soft a little better just because it has that soft landing and it actually has a little bit of rotation to it. This is just kind of a bump and run ball. Yeah. Yeah. 100%. Uh, a very very firm roll out, very consistent roll out, not a lot of left and right, but gets the job done. The Distance Plus feels just slightly firmer. It actually is a little heavy coming off the wedge. The other ones were very light, very bouncy ballish. Not the Distance Plus. It felt just a tad heavier. Got to really pay attention here to see if there’s a difference. Uh oh. I thought it was going to have more bouncy ball than that. I’ll be completely honest with you. So, one thing surprising about that ball, the distance control is slow. I I thought, you know, usually these softer golf balls like this have a lot of bouncy ball to them. Not the case, but it has a nice soft kiss off the putter. It feels great. Five out of five roll, no chug effect. It’s beautiful, but it’s just it’s it takes a lot more than I thought it would. So, now we’ll compare it to the yellow and see if there’s a difference here. Okay. Nice. There’s a slight difference in the sound. Other than that, the feel is very close. The roll is still really good. Yeah, everything’s pretty much the same except for a little bit of sound difference. Um, distance control on the yellow is actually closer to being normal, believe it or not. But I’ll just go ahead and call them the same. I don’t want there to be too much difference, but maybe I’m just getting in my own head. But no, they’re relatively close. I don’t see much of a difference. Just a tiny bit of sound. But they’re I love the roll. Five out of five roll. That’s great. All right. Now we have the ink. Okay, now hold on a second. Wow, guys, you’re not going to believe this. It feels the same. Exactly the same. No difference. All right, last but not least, we have the distance plus. Now, this one should feel different. Oh, a lot harder. Again, distance controls. It’s It’s more slow. It’s close to the middle. It really is, but it’s a little bit toward the slow side compared to what I’m used to. I thought these would have a little bit more bouncy ball, but they just don’t. Yeah. No, but but you know what? I’ll take that because even though you don’t have the bouncy ball effect, the roll is a five out of five. And I do see that a lot. The more bouncy ball a golf ball has, a lot of the time that’s where that chug effect comes into play. So, I’ll take that. It’s a little slower, but yes, I I like the five out of five roll. It’s very consistent. It’s beautiful to watch. I’m getting a lot in the hole. Nice little soft kiss there. Little firmer on the kiss on that one. You know, the other one was kind of like a little soft peek, you know, lips only. That one was like a chicken peck. It was off the putter, but it’s still nice. It’s still really good. Uh let’s move on to the blade. All right. Actually, you know, to be honest, pleasantly surprised so far with the putter with these balls. These are, you know, cheap two-pieces. Really impressed with the putting. Oh, wow. Beautiful. Not beautiful. The yellow’s a little bit different when it comes to the feel and the sound. Just slightly. I mean, minimally, marginally. Most of you probably won’t notice a difference. Um, it’s still really good, but the roll is now a four out of five. It’s just not quite that perfect roll I saw with the mallet. Uh, there’s there was a couple times I saw just a smidgey wedge of chug effect, but, you know, honestly, it’s still really good. I don’t I’m not going to complain. Now, we have the ink. Yeah, that definitely feels different. [Applause] little bit. I I can feel the feedback a lot more with this ink for sure. It’s clearly different. Seems like it comes off a little hotter, too. That’s normal distance control. That That’s not soft like the other ones have been. That that had a lot of I mean, I hit the back of the cup with authority there. So, little bit different. So, again, it’s all very marginally. It’s all very small, but there’s definitely a difference. You can tell by the sound and feel. All right. Distance plus. Uh, not a big fan of that. Yeah, I just I don’t It’s a little heavy coming off the blade putter. Mallet putter, I’m super impressed across the board. I mean, just phenomenal. I think really consistent, really great when it comes to the blade. However, you know, still really good for the most part, but it just it’s not as as exciting and wonderful as it was with the mallet. You know, it’s a difference between good and excellent. So, not bad. Let’s go see how they feel. All right, let’s see what we’re working with here. We’re starting with the white speed saw first, you know, it it’s firmer than I thought it would be for being sub 50. I thought marshmallow squishy, you know, like like a an old Callaway super soft. You know what I mean? No, there’s a lot of firmness in that ball. There’s a there’s actually a little bit of feedback, too. Um I need one more. No, I mean it just it’s I mean I’m not saying all those are perfect strikes, but there’s a firmness to it. It’s just not I don’t know if it’s the outer layer. I don’t know what it is. Uh but I was expecting some squishy. I was expecting some bouncy ball, some spring. Nope. Yeah, I mean it’s a solid feel. Three out of five. Um not a lot of spring, not a lot of explosiveness to it doesn’t feel like. But it gets the job done. Mis hits actually are a two out of five, believe it or not. This golf ball has some feedback. It’s not as squishy as I thought. It’s not as marshmallowy I thought. Definitely surprising. Surprising for sure. All right, let’s see if there’s any difference between it and the yellow. You know, I’m running into the same issue as I did before when I was chipping. That felt like it had just a tiny bit more spring to it. I mean, I not a lot. I mean, very marginally, very minimally, but it did feel like it exploded off the club just a little bit more than the the white version did. And I hit the white version probably 10 to 15 times. That’s my first attempt. So I very strange. Uh let’s go ahead and do one more. Yeah, I mean that was a mishit. That mis hits a three out of five. Um you know I would say it was a four out of five with the pure hit. So little bit different. You know the yellow cover is you know we we know from past experiences that the yellow cover does make a difference as far as how it feels. So I I kind of like how the yellow feels a little bit better. Oh, I mean that’s not a great swing, but I pured it and I love that. That That gave me a feeling of power. So, that’s a four out of five. That is different than the white. Even a little bit. Yeah, that that had some explosiveness. That was some bouncy ball. Different sound. Different sound. Completely separate from uh the other two. I mean, that that had like a almost like the ball was wet a little bit, you know? That’s what it sounded like. Not that it is, but it just that’s kind of what reminded me on the sound. Very strange. Solid feel. I actually think that’s in between the other two. I think it’s a three and a half. I’ll go ahead and bump it up to the four on the Pure Hits. It It’s It’s solid. It’s not great, but it’s just It is slightly different. And the sound, I’m not a big fan of the sound, but it works. Miss hits a solid three out of five. I mean, it definitely feels like there’s a little bit more forgiveness there for sure. Even though I hit it off the bottom of the club, it still compressed pretty nicely and I felt like I got a lot of explosiveness out. It’s actually still close. It’s actually close to being a three and a half still like the regular Pure Strike. So, that’s actually really good. I wonder if there’s going to be a difference there. We’ll see. Last but not least, we got the Distance Plus. This one’s a firmer compression. So, let’s see what we’re working with here. Oh, that’s Yeah, that’s that’s a four out of five. That’s class. Uh, again, I only keep my five out of fives for the really eye popping. I don’t want to overuse it, but that was solid. That was really, really nice. Yeah. I mean, this hit four out of five. That’s really good. That was off the toe and a little bit off the bottom. Still exploded. Still felt great. Yeah. No, I I actually have no problem. I’m going to do one more just to see, but right now I’ve got it a four on both accounts. Okay, that one was a little towy. I’m downgrading it to the three. It was borderline, but still really good. All these have a really solid feel. None of them are going to win any awards, but they get the job done and there’s no red flags. So, let’s go inside and let’s see how the performance metrics did and let’s see if there is a difference between these golf balls. Boy, it sure feels like there might be, but we’ll see. So, we’re going to start with 50 yard pitch backspin RPM. Looking right in here. As you can see, we have the speed soft white on the left, 7801, that’s a mid number. It’s toward the bottom of mid. It’s almost red, but it just sneaks in there. 29.2. Not bad. As you can see, little bit of difference there in the yellow, 8,50. Uh, that actually comes up to the green. You’re talking 250 RPM difference. 27.9. Little bit lower of a launch angle. When we get to the ink, now we’re looking at 7,683. So, that’s actually a lot lower in the red. Launches low for some reason. I don’t know why. That’s kind of crazy. Then, if we get to the distance plus, it’s a little better because yes, it’s 7650. It’s still in the red, but at least it launches high. So, it tries to offset. It tries to correct it a little bit. That’s better than nothing. But the 26.1 with the 7683, that’s tough cuz you’re getting a low penetrating flight with no backspin. So, you’re going to see some roll on that roll out on that for sure. Let’s let’s keep these numbers in mind here. The first thing I want to show you is that 250 RPM spin difference. Let’s see if that’s consistent throughout all the tests or if it’s just the 50 yard pitch. Let’s see if the yellow version does get a little bit more spin throughout. So, we’ll see. Uh going into the pitching wedge now. Looking at these numbers again, we have 97.8, 98.2. Uh, look at the drop off on the ink. I mean, 6 mph difference almost. That is insane. 97.6 on the distance plus. Looks good. Um, spin-wise, actually the same spin here. 7,14 77. So, now they’re they’re relatively close on full shots. But look at the ink. 7,42. It got 400 RPM more than the regular yellow and regular white versions. That’s insane. 7,085 when it comes to the distance plus. Now, let’s take a look at the launch angles real quick. 22.9 and 23.4 are relatively close, but 26.1 now all of a sudden that particular incursion is launching way too high up in the air. And I don’t know why, but it is. It launches way way higher. 24.5 is a high launch with the distance plus, but it works out because the numbers are all green and you know, and plus just look at the distance difference between the ink version as well as the Tailor Made Speed Soft Regular. We’re looking at 10 to 11 yards difference total. That’s insanity, right? And the thing is is that when it comes to human testing, right, there’s always going to be that small variance of numbers because you’re you’re not swinging the same every time. I get that. And I’ve gotten pretty good, I would say, at being able to distinguish what’s human element and what isn’t. For example, something I would call human element, if you look at the uh launch angle, 22.9 compared to 23.4 within half of a degree, we’re we’re cool. That that’s a a fair disturbance. Actually, almost anything uh within a a full degree, I would say, is okay. You know, you can take it with a grain of salt. But when you’re looking at a 400 RPM spin difference, when you’re looking at a four a three and a half to three, three three and a half launch angle difference, when you’re looking at 11 yards difference, that’s not the human element of testing. Those golf balls are different. I don’t know how they’re different. I don’t know if it’s the material. I don’t know if it’s just how the other factories producing them. I don’t know if that particular model I was testing was a dud. You know, sometimes you just get a dud in a dozen. I don’t know. But there’s a difference there. And it’s not just from human element testing. I know a lot of you are going to go to the comments and go, “Oh, it’s not the ball. It’s you, bro.” Cuz that’s like the main comment I see nowadays. No, that’s a huge, huge difference and totally separate. They feel different. They act different. There’s something going on here. But let’s keep these numbers going. Let’s get to the 7ir. Looking at the first two on the left, very close again. 118.5, 118.4. Uh, look at the spin difference on the white versus the yellow. 5468 compared to 5780. That’s a huge difference. Again, 300 RPM. So, now we’ve seen that twice. Uh, look at the launch angle between the yellow and the white. 15.7 compared to 18.6. That’s crazy. Um, again, the distances are all close. And so, I mean, overall, it doesn’t really matter. I think the yellow version is spinning a little bit more for some reason, but they’re all relatively close, but there’s some big discrepancies there. We get into the inc version. Again, you lose 4 mph of ball speed. It launches kind of a mid. It’s a lot dead off the club. It’s not spinning as much a mid spin and I lost distance with it. So again, the ink kind of comes up a little bit short, which is surprising. When we get to the Tailor Made distance plus, we have yellow, we have yellow in the ball speed. We have, you know, it’s funny. You see that trophy next to the spin. I’ll talk about that in just a second. 163.8. I got average ball speed, which is great considering how um the high the spin was. So, I’m I’m happy with that. So again, a little bit of discrepancies there. As far as the white versus yellow, if you look at it as a whole, they’re pretty close. The distance is close to the same. Launch angle’s a little bit different, but as far as your overall result, ends up being pretty close, right? But the ink again falls off. There’s a dramatic difference there. Seven yards difference, eight yards difference. Um, five on total roll out. I guess it it’s it’s too much. You know what I mean? Like there’s obviously a huge difference there. And it’s been consistent. Now, the reason I put the Trophy next to the 5838 when it comes to the distance plus, that is the most spin I’ve gotten with a 7iron this year. Yeah, I Yeah, I was surprised, too. You know, that’s why I love these tests. That’s why I love doing average tests for the average golfer. That’s why I love coming into these tests with an open mind and just letting the numbers talk, right? It’s what I I preach on the channel all the time. This isn’t my opinion. I’m trying to let the numbers talk. There’s some things that are my opinion, but a lot of this is just numbers and data, right? And the thing is is that a lot of people still believe two-piece, you’re just not going to get that spin. This one has the right compression. It’s getting, you know, up against the club and the grooves just enough to where it’s gripping it. It has the most of any golf ball I’ve tested this year. Launched a little high, but if you’re someone who needs a high launch and a little bit of spin, and not only that, I’ve noticed the comments as well. A lot of you told me, even in emails, the Distance Plus was spinning a lot for you guys. I I’ve gotten a couple of them where you said you were surprised at the checkup. And I think one person even told me they saw some ripback, which I’ll admit, at the time I was a little skeptical, but that number backs it up. So, really good to see. Let’s move into the driver. Last but not least, this is probably the most disappointing out of all the numbers. As you can see, 141.41.5. Again, the yellow and the the white continue to be very, very close. Uh, again, the yellow had more spin. Again, it launched higher. So, there’s a difference there. It’s a consistent difference across the clubs. Um, distance-wise still ended up being close to the same. Uh, the ink really let me down. 139.1 1.41 smash factor. Really low. I mean, I lost eight yards from my average. Don’t like to see that. It also launched really, really low. I don’t know why. Um, then when we get to the Tailor Made Distance Plus, it actually had a really good performance. It just barely gets in the green, but hey, barely counts, baby. 143.7, 233.2, 240.7, all in the green. average smash factor a little high on the spin. Um the only one that even had a decent spin number was the ink, surprising enough, but the other ones were really high. That 2665 is way more than I would like. Uh so a little disappointing in the driver. That’s usually how softer golf balls go. I usually see really good results with the pitching wedge and the seven iron. And then when I get to the driver and the mid the long irons, it usually suffers a little bit because the overcompression happens. which over compression all I’m talking about is I mean that when golf balls are really soft and you hit them and they squish a little too much you just don’t get that optimal pop off the club and I see that across almost every sub50 golf ball I see there are some exceptions but most of them that’s what I see there are discrepancies uh we’ll talk about those in the conclusion but real quick we have a couple things we got to wrap up first one we got to go to the accuracy and dispersion charts let’s go look at those and let’s see what we’re working with all right once again I want to apologize for the way this looks. I know this doesn’t look very professional, but uh my app has uh glitched after having an update and now I can’t get all of these on one screen anymore. So, I’m I’m contacting them. I’m trying to get through it. So, just bear with me. I apologize. Uh if we look at the 50-yard pitch on the speed soft wipe, it’s okay. You know, distance-wise, as far as distance control, you know, there’s about a 15 17 yard discrepancy there. And then if we also look left to right as far as, you know, your accuracy, you’re looking at probably around a five to seven yard from left to right, which is okay. It’s not bad. It’s not the end of the world, but on a 50-yard pitch, I usually expect a little bit more than that. If we go into the pitching wedge, however, now things are actually a little bit different. Uh there’s a lot of, you know, dots in that center there. Distance control is really spot-on. It’s a really consistent ball, very forgiving. Uh accuracy again is just okay, but as far as that distance control, it is spot-on. Seveniron is no different. Uh distance control is great. Accuracy is all over the place. The farthest left and the farthest right is about roughly probably 12 yards apart somewhere in there. So it’s, you know, it’s not the end of the world, but very average. Then we get to driver. Driver’s a little spread out. Most of everything’s in the fairway, which is good. Uh but I did lose a little bit of my distance control, but not much. It’s still good. I would say overall this is a very forgiving, consistent golf ball. It’s just not going to light up the scoreboard. As you can see, I had a little bit more success with the yellow version when it came to the 50-yard pitch. Uh, really solid there. The accuracy is much much better. Uh, the dispersion’s a lot, you know, closer. Maybe I was just got into a rhythm and was feeling good. But I’ll tell you what, there’s a huge difference there. Looking at the pitching wedge now, I lost some of my distance control. It looks like this golf ball, maybe because of the pop just had a little bit difference there. I I’m not getting as much consistency. I think the accuracy is a little bit better, but I don’t think I’m getting that distance control quite like I was. Uh if we go to the seven iron, distance control is great. Uh long, you know, I call that hot dog style. You know, some people call hamburger style, whatever. But that that’s basically like uh all the same distance, which is great. Accuracy wise, though, you know, furthest left and furthest right, you’re talking almost 20 yards apart. That’s that’s pretty low compared to other golf balls I’ve seen this year. Driver, all looks good. If you take away the one pool I had, very good distance control, very accurate. Um, I think the yellow actually did better on this test than the white. Now, is that human element? I don’t know. You can take that with a grain of salt, but it seems like there are some noticeable differences there. Now, this is where we get to the ink, and this is where it gets really interesting. Okay, so looking at the 50-yard pitch, accuracy is awesome, but distance control is all over the place. There’s about a 20 yard difference between my shortest and my longest, so I had trouble controlling the distance on this one. Uh, all toward the flag, though, so that’s good. pitching wedge, you know, you got one left and one right, but all those in the middle are actually relatively close. That’s solid. That’s a good four out of five. That’s that’s definitely above average. Seven iron, again, you got that one push, but other than that, they’re all right there in the middle. It’s great. So, I mean, golf ball may not have a ton of distance, but the consistency and the forgiveness seem to be really high. Now, this is where it gets really cool. That is the best driver dispersion chart I have seen this year. uh when you look at it, the farthest left and the farthest right, if you take away that small push, which isn’t even a push, but if you just take the other nine out of 10 and you take the farthest left and the farthest right, it’s like seven yards difference. I mean, that that’s absolutely insane when we think about that. Only a five to seven yard difference between your furthest left and your furthest right after nine shots. If you want to go ahead and include that other one, okay, fine. and we’re at 14 and that’s still one of the best I’ve seen this year if not the best. It it’s it’s absolutely incredible. The ink as far as you know with the driver it’s money. It’s fairway every single time. It is ultra forgiving and that’s what that shows. And last but not least, we have the distance plus. Looking at the 50-yard pitch, you know, it’s a little spread out. Accuracy isn’t perfect, but overall it’s solid. It’s definitely getting the job done. You’re going to have some birdie looks. Get into the pitching wedge. Kind of the same story. You know, I mean, it’s about a seven yard diff, six yard difference between your furthest left and your furthest right. And then as far as distance control, they’re all within probably 10 yards of each other. So, that’s pretty solid. That’s not bad at all. Seven iron, one of the better seven irons I’ve seen this year for sure. You know, you’ve got one that’s a push to the right, one that’s a little far, one that’s a little short, but there’s about seven out of 10 that are just sitting in the middle there that are going to give really good birdie opportunities. I love to see that. Uh driver, it’s okay. Um, I like the accuracy a lot because it seems like a lot of those would be in the fairway, but distance controls kind of all over. I just um I didn’t get as as high of a consistency as I did with the speed soft, but that was kind of to be expected because this golf ball being a medium compression had more pop, especially off the driver. So, I didn’t expect it to be, you know, as good when it came to that. But still solid. All these are really solid in one way or another. I’m just surprised they’re so different. Um, considering the performance as well, it’s kind of crazy. All right, let’s get into some durability, then I’ll give you my closing thoughts. We’re going to start with the white Speed Soft. Looking at this golf ball, it looks pretty solid. Um, it actually looks really good. There’s not a lot of cuts. There’s not a lot of scrapes. If I look at the one tailor made side, there’s a little bit of paint faded. Other than that, though, it feels really good. I don’t feel any major abrasions. Um, looking at this, based on, you know, the price and everything, I’d call it an 8 and a half. I’ll bump it up to a nine. That’s actually really good. Uh, there’s there’s hardly any sandpaper effect with the price. I had high expectations and it delivered. Good job. When we look at the yellow version, yellow does show a little bit more scuffs and dirt because it has that kind of glitter, you know, glistening crystal finish. Uh, but if I feel the golf ball, again, not a lot of deep cuts, not a lot of abrasions, no sandpaper effect. It looks good. It cleans up nice. Little bit worse than the white, though. I’ll call it an 8 out of 10, but still a really solid performance. So, I enjoy that. Next up, we have the ink. And the ink is uh looking a little rough here. If I start out on this side, you can see the paint’s faded. You can see the the splatters are painted. If I feel that there’s some sandpaper effect. Um, if I look at the rest of the golf ball, it looks pretty good, though. So, considering it’s just the one side I hit because of the metallic dot, I’ll give it a 7 out of 10. Not quite as good, but you can clearly tell a difference there. I mean, clearly you can tell a difference. So, then we get into the distance plus. Again, you know, you can see a lot of the dirt and stuff, but this thing still looks great. No major sandpaper, no cuts. Um, I don’t see any dirt or uh, you know, gouges out from the sand. Um, yeah. Oh, hold on. Right here. I got one right there. I’ll call it an eight out of 10. I was getting ready to give it a nine, but then I felt one spot that’s pretty rough. So, again, these are these are all above average. These are all good. They’re all worth your money because you’re going to get that durability out of them. So, I I like to see that. Okay. So, closing thoughts, right? We know this is something that is a huge discovery for me personally. I didn’t realize this even after testing golf balls for 5 years. We all, I think, as a community have discovered that there can sometimes be a huge difference between the same model golf ball but different paint options, different, you know, uh, color designs. The prime example that comes to my mind is the Stricksen Zar Divide. Right? If you’re a quick backstory, when my Golf Spy did their testing results and I did a reaction video to it a couple months back, they actually had the Z stars doing pretty well. It was a pretty solid golf ball. But then when you look at the worst golf ball in that category, it was the Zstar Divide. And at the time I was doing the reaction video, I was flabbergasted because I was like, how can they be so different? How can one be almost the best and one be the worst? And it’s the same golf ball. It’s just it has different paint. It’s half yellow, half white. It’s the same ball, but there is a difference. My Golf Spy noticed it. Then I started thinking last year when I tested the Zstar, I tested the Divide and I hated it. And I talked about how they took all the magic away. It felt clicky. It felt firm, but I never put it in my head, two and two together, that oh well, they could be that different. I never even imagined. Well, then fast forward to this year. I test the regular ZAR and it’s one of my favorite golf balls of the year. The reason I bring that up is because I think that going forward, we need to put more of an emphasis on white versus yellow versus matte versus crystal. There could be a huge difference and I’ve done a little experimenting with this and I’m seeing some pretty shocking results. This is definitely a game changer this test we just did because yes, there is a human element to this. There is going to be small discrepancies, but there was nothing small about these discrepancies. These were huge. I lost 10 yards with the pitching wedge. Um, I lost, you know, the yellow had consistently 300 more RPM spin. Why? That doesn’t make sense. The launch angle on the yellow was consistently higher. Why? I don’t know. Those two are coming out of the same factory. The ink comes out of a different factory. It’s a completely different golf ball. It feels different. It acts different. It’s It’s funny because these golf balls are actually for two totally separate different golfers. Let’s start with the regular Speed Soft White and Speed Soft Yellow. As you can tell from the Speed Soft White, if you need that pop off the club, if you need a little bit more distance, but you’re not, you know, you’re actually a pretty good ball striker and accuracy is not your issue, this is a solid option. It’s it’s decently forgiving. It’s decently consistent. It pops off the club. It feels pretty good. Um, you know, spin. If you need a little more spin, try the yellow version. You know, it also glistens in the sun a little bit better. easier to find. But if you don’t need that spin, if you find you’re ballooning and hitting it too high, you can go with the white version. But that’s those balls. But on the other end, if you’re someone who doesn’t really care about the distance as much, but you need, you know, the best dispersion you can get, that’s the ink. I mean, that driver dispersion chart, seven yards difference between the furthest right and the furthest left. Are you kidding me? That’s insane. That is by far the best dispersion chart I’ve seen, especially when it comes to the driver. So, they’re two totally kind of separate balls. Like, one’s if you need a little more distance and pop, and one’s if you need just that secure. In fact, I remember last year when I was working at Cabin, I took the ink out and played with it on the par three course a lot, and I loved it. It was great. It had that kind of like fly up in the air and just kind of hit and stop wherever it is. It was extremely consistent. It was extremely forgiving. I actually played some really good rounds on that par three. So, all that backs up, but it just surprises me that they’re so different, you know? Now, all that aside, let’s talk about the distance plus. A lot of you have wanted to know how this golf ball was. It’s solid. It It’s better than the previous version, that’s for sure. I don’t think it’s going to win any awards, but it’s extremely affordable. It has a yellow, which is easy to see. It has a white. It checks those boxes. Has a great alignment tool. I love that. No red numbers. Decent spin. We’ll stop on the green. Number one spin and seven iron. Just crazy. Love that. Solid performance with the driver. It’s a good allaround balanced ball. And so I think that yeah, it’s it’s if you’re someone who wants to spend 20 a dozen and you like the look of it, you like the feel of it. A lot of you have come forward and told me it’s been your gamer this year. It’s a solid golf ball. Again, I don’t know if it’ll win any awards, but it is a solid option and I like it. It’s a lot better than the last version, that’s for sure. I wasn’t big on the last version. This one gets two thumbs up from the golf ball addict. Guys, as always, thank you so much for watching. As always, keep watching so you can keep saving and you can keep learning. I’ll see you again soon. In two weeks, we are going to start our top 10 and top five series. And then not long after that, it’s preparations time for the top 100. It’s coming. I hope you’re as excited as I am. See you soon.

Speedsoft Yellow did not push the buttons for me, about 10-15 yds shorter on the driver, approach, chips and putts suffered as well, too many good balls out there, I won't try this one again.

I play the speed soft ink, you summed it up correctly, I loose abit with driver however it’s super forgiving and accurate, it launches high with the scoring clubs, it drops and stops and always finds the green, always finds the fairway, love it and it’s 50% cheaper than the top balls
Another good video Nick ! Looking forward to the top 100 !
Played ProV1x last week. Best drives of the year, but dead, heavy putting and unforgiving on miss-hits. Any ball suggestions for similar drives but more feel around green?
Thanks to you GBA, im playing the 2025 chrome soft golf balls, which are excellent for my swing.
Thankyou ⛳️
I swing driver 95 mph and have found the Srixon Z Star Diamond a fantastic ball for me. Long iron shots are long and true. Not suppose to make sense, by what I'm told by ball reviews, but it does
I hit the Thumbs up and a golf ball appeared after I did that. Love it!
Would like to see speedsoft ,super soft,Scrixon soft
Do you mean <50 for the compressions? I heard you say less than but your symbols look to show greater than 50?
You done messed up! Time to do the maxfli tour line and the pxg, yellow vs white. Lol!
Going to The Annika at pelican this year?
Nick, have always wondered if there was a difference in colours and matte finishes from the white version. Very interesting results you got, another great review!!
As always great info NIck.. I played the Distance+ a few years ago and I hated that golf ball. It felt like a rock. I may have to try it again.
Yes thank you so much always great feedback and info
Last time you reviewed the Speedsoft I commented to back you up on the spin for that ball. I gamed the plain white for a while. I like the ball but I have commitment issues when it comes to golf balls. Lol. Probably why I love this channel so much. Keep it up, Nick!
When are we seeing that Amazon ball that just dropped 🙂
My son who is 11 is using the ink and it has been by far the best ball we have found for him. I am thinking the compression on that thing is around 30 but just a guess
Can't believe the differences between the balls. This is a huge deal for golf ball companies' marketing and PR if this is true for other golf ball models.
I wonder if the focus on consistency isn't as locked in at TM since these are low-cost model balls, but the high end models have this sorted out. Now I wonder!
I only play white balls, so I doubt this will be a problem with ones I play, but this is so interesting!
Thanks, Nick!
Nick i need a temporary ball to hold me over until the black friday deals roll along, i like to play triads, vice pro, 80s compression around there, legato, but i got so spoiled by buying several legatos at $18.99 on sale, any recommendations? 95-100 driver, need help taming the slice, but short game is the best part of my game so i need to keep the spin up
Amazon just released their own basics golf ball. This has got to be a top priority to get tested! With how they are priced, If they are any good theyll be hard to get.
Crazy to think on top of all the other hundreds of considerations in our games (swing speed, balance, swing path, weather, so on) now we get to worry about what color golf ball will respond in what specific way even if it has the same name on the side of a box. No fair, Golf Fates. No freaking fair.
Amazon basics has a ball. It will probably be crap but it will be a must review.
Not a golf ball question, but a club question. Have all these influencers on YouTube essentially whored themselves out the Eleven company? There are tons of influencers that have done reviews on how good these clubs are and one would have to think given the good quality of clubs out there that there is some bias in the number and quality of reviews based on financial or other incentives.
Have you tested the new Amazon soft core ball? $14/ dozen. Guess it was only a matter of time.
Looks like Amazon just dropped a ball, looks to be a soft ball low compression called Basics
I tried the ink ball several times, never felt right, this definitely explains it.
Really enjoyed this one! Keep up the great testing and bringing it to us fellow golf ball addicts.
but how many balls of the same type do you use for the tests ? could it be a difference between some batches ? just wondering…
Well Amazon has now came out with there own golf ball have you heard of it yet?
Found an INK. Used for a couple holes. Didn't like it at all. Saving for colder weather… or just to display as green / black is directionly bad for finding in rough… unless you are the next guy. 😊
My favorite ball for a good while was the TP5. Then decided I didn't deserve that nice of a ball at my 17 handicap, so fell back to the speedsoft and liked it a lot. Now I've gotten into "mint" TP5's used from Golfball Planet and loving that right now. Enjoyed this review a lot as I've used these balls. Thanks for the great video!
I'm 48, been playing 35 years. Driver I bumped up a little to 97 mph, kept my irons to 80 mph. I've been playing Maxfli Straightfli and like it. The other day it was getting dark and I blasted a Callaway Supersoft off the tee because it was the only bright green ball in my bag. I fully expected to lose it so I straight murdered it off the tee and to my surprise it went stupid straight and long. At my swing speed do you think I should take a hard look at the Callaway? Or keep rockin the Straightfli?
2200-2500 is usually the sweet spot for spin. I'm surprised you want lower as a good number.
