The PGA Tour is taking a trip south of the border to Mexico this week, and Tom Jacobs has some interesting picks ahead of the World Wide Technology Championship…

Los Cabos is known for two things in the golf world: outstanding, year-round sunshine, and the entertaining World Wide Technology Championship that returns every fall.

Hosted at Diamante on the El Cardonal course, the tournament is known for low scores and a more fun, relaxed demand on players who tee it up here; in fact, you’d need to go back to the 2018 event to find the last time the winner failed to break 20-under for their final score.

The course at Diamante is one of the fledgling designs of TGR, Tiger Woods’ golf architecture company, having seen direct input from the GOAT himself. The layout offers reasonable freedom from the tee box, with wider layup positions, but also rewards the golfer prepared to take on more difficult lines closer to fairway bunkers with easier approach shots.

Previous victors include Eric Van Rooyen and Viktor Hovland, who has succeeded in back-to-back years here. In 2024, Austin Eckroat took home his second career win after sealing the first deal early that season at The Cognizant Classic.

Austin Eckroat won the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship
