I work at a golf course in Wisconsin. Over the past two weeks we have had deer damage four of our greens. The damage is always right by the flag stick. Has anyone had this problem or a similar issue, and if so do you have any good solutions for keeping deer of the greens. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

They lick the pins because the pins have salt from people’s hands. Have the last group each day remove the pins and place off of the green.

That looks like dragging cleats !!like some old dude that misses his putts and can’t pick up his feet when walking to pick up his ball by the cup But if you say Dear then Dear it is

Remove the flags at night, they’re making deer scrapes.

It’s Deer mating season, they rub their antler velvet on trees to mark territory, in this case they’re using the flag stick as a tree.

Bring the flags in at the end of the golf day and put them out first thing in the morning and it’ll help. Hopefully the traffic during the days is enough to keep them away.

Shrink the game damn it. These backwards wearing cap, untucked shirt, cart riding ding dongs are ruining the game.

Saw it at door creek in cottage grove this week. Wonder if that’s the course in the post

That looks like how Freddy Kruger marks ball.

  9. I was at a course in Oregon in the 90s that had this problem. They put out a bunch of extra flagsticks in the woods and attached some kind of stinky stuff in a bag which attracted the deer. They would go to those instead of the ones on the greens.

LOL. When I first saw the picture I assumed the marks were from some idiot raking his spikes across the green in frustration for missing a putt or some such thing. I would have never guessed it was from deer.

Is that at Door Creek? I putted through those marks on thursday.

  13. This is almost certainly deer scape.

But I have to say, it looks a lot like the damage we used to see back in the day when we wore actual spikes.

Those lines are actually a great representation of the amount of putts I make after a GIR

The deer are just really pissed at missing that gimme.

If your course is outside city limits and you have a safe backstop, shoot a few of the deer. They’ll learn.

TIL some courses leave their flags out at night.

So you’re saying I need to get a flagstick by my tree stand so I can finally see deer? I’ve been doing it wrong my whole life.

  20. They’re rubbing their horns on the flag poles take them out

Must be the deer’s version of “6-7”

Don’t try to understand it just do your best; be about your $ and go about your day…

Go full spackler with a 30-06 or .270
That could help. Sell the meat to help pay for repairs.

Do you guys not rope off your greens? Ours do that to keep the deer and elk off.

What movie was it where they took hair clippings from the barbershop and sprinkled them around the baseball diamond so the deer wouldn’t eat the grass seed? Maybe try that?

Let your employees bow hunt the property.
