88, but I’m going to knife it. That was 120, I reckon. 139. That is a good start. I’m Harry Hall, and this is where power meets precision. These are my stock and maximum yardages powered by Trackman. Right, this a 61 and it should go about 88 y. See how I do. It’s a little bit wet on the ground. It might go further if it doesn’t spin as much. 84 84 84 Yeah, that was pretty spinny actually. 10,000 10,000. Yeah, that’s about right. I’ll hit one more. See if I can uh get up to game speed here. 85. 85. Next one’s a 54 and this should go uh one 07 maybe right now. 105. What do you think? 107 107.5. Sorry. Oh, there you go. 50 is 121. I reckon it’ll go 120 121 right now. This is on normalized. So should go the number. And how does the normalized affect your usual? You’re based in Las Vegas. Yeah. So obviously it’s a bit kind of drier. 2 and a half th000 ft. Depending on the time of year it could be anywhere from, you know, 110 to 60. Um, but I always set it at 80 degrees and 1,000 feet because I find that that’s in between, you know, altitude and sea level. And then you can kind of just go a little bit down or a little bit above your numbers rather than going to one extreme and then going to another. So, and how useful is that when you then come over here, for example, and you’re playing in colder conditions to how does having the Trackman there help you? Well, it’s massive. Ever since I got a Trackman, I’ve become way better as a player. But definitely having the normalized numbers so that I can always see my numbers at 80° and 1,000 ft, that’s where I like it. You know, if I go to sea level at 70 and uh zero, then I’m only reducing my numbers by 5 yards. I think having the Trackman based at a a setting and a normalization that’s in between those climates is really useful. All right. 120 120 119 and a half. It’s pretty good. Very good. I changed this club in the middle of the year in my pitching wedge from 131 to 135 and I don’t think it ever quite got there. I made it a degree stronger just to help with some gapping. So I think, you know, this should go 135. It might be a bit shy, but we’ll see. 136. 136. You’re usually quite good at being able to call your numbers in the air. Yeah, I think I practice a lot, so I, you know, I know what something feels like. I think my feels obviously pretty good. So, yeah, just I can tell by the strike where I hit it on the face how it flies. If that’s normal, if it feels a little bit like it didn’t spin much or if it spun too much, if I bottomed it a little bit or caught it off the top of the face a little bit. Uh 99 150. So like that there I didn’t hit good at all. Left it out right and it spun quite a lot. So I’m going to go 142. That That was not a good shot at all. 147. 147. Well, it’s better than I thought it was. See, the ground’s a little bit wet. Normally, a 9 iron would spin a little less, and an 8 iron’s typically the same, and then a seven iron spin more. So, I’m not sure why it’s not going as far. I’m going to go 147 again. I didn’t quite hit that. Good. 147. Yeah, I I’ll just I’ll leave it there. What was the spin on that one, Joel? 9,000. The last one. Yeah. So, that’s about right. So, all right. Eight iron should go 162 right now. 160 I would say. Even though it’s normalized, if it’s colder, I find that I swing it a little slower. If I’m hitting balls at 90° in Vegas and I’ve got it normalized at 80, I’m obviously moving a little faster because it’s warmer. Um, so it will calculate like my eight iron I normally swing around 86 87 miles an hour. In Vegas at 90° it might be 88 89. So it depends. That’s where normalization you have to be careful. Like even though I’ve got it normalized the same, it’s a little bit colder today. So it might not go the number. So that’s why I’m thinking 160 instead of 62. There you go. That’s a good one. 160. 160. Great. Oh, we’re backing. The 99’s got to leave the bag, isn’t it? 159. The 99’s got to go. I think we’ll need a new N made up for me this week. So, is the temperature something you struggle with playing in the States? You’re usually playing in hot climates, whereas when you come over here and you put more layers on, swinging a bit tighter. Is that something that you notice you have to work on or anything? Or is that just something that you take into account so you club up if you’re Last week I tried my best not to put on a jumper or waterproof, you know, just stay in one shirt cuz I know I can swing it faster and keep my my numbers pretty similar. Yeah, it’s definitely something you noticed on tour, especially going from like Hawaii and Palm Springs straight to Pebble Beach. It’s really cold in the mornings and it’s the same here. Your spin rate goes down um cuz you’re swinging it slower simply. Uh I’ve tried in the past to navigate that and maybe add a degree on all my irons or use a spinier ball, but the Bridgestone I’m using now is really good and it’s great in all climates. So the spin rates were were really good. So yeah, I haven’t really tried to do anything different depending on where the weather goes. Just if it is spinning less, then I’ll pay for more run out into the greens. Bit of a fatter ball flight. Uh 7 iron should be 175. That was a good strike. 175 176. Oh, too good. Oh, I’m happy with that. I’ll take that. Uh, sixiron, 190. Bit spinny. I’m going to go 188. 188.6. All right. Within two yards. Mhm. Getting worse. This is where uh I kind of just try and fit the gap pretty good. So, I go from 190 to 210 on my five on. I made my five on a little longer. Then I go 210, 230, 250. I don’t think this is going to get there all the way though with it being slightly wet on the floor. I hit it good. I’m going to go 206. 209.6. Oh, I’m better than I think I That’s good. So considering you’ve got like a 20 yard gapping. If you’ve got say 200, are you trying to manipulate a five shorter or hit a six longer? Depends. I’ve got a 200 shot with my five iron where I call it just my chest shot. So I take it back a little a little bit shorter and it’s like a flighted one. Um then I’ve got a smooth that will go 205. My six iron I won’t go past like 195. Um, I’ll just accept I’m, you know, I’ll rip a six and I’ll be five yards short. Five iron goes from 200 to 215 because I can hit it harder. And then six iron will go from 195 to 180. So little things like that. 230 231 235 235 All right, that’s my new number. 235. I think 20 yards in between or 25 yards in between clubs is a bit too much. Uh 250 on this one. Same club, just a less loft, bit longer. I’m going to go 25 on the button. 255. 255. Yeah, maybe it’s uh wet surface makes these hybrids spin a little less. These are new uh the last couple months and they’ve been good. Haven’t played in any wet conditions. So, might be the five yards I’m gaining. Might just be spin rate. What’s the spin rate on that? 355. Yeah. Five. Bit low. Cool. And then mini drivers 275. And then the drivers 300 yards. I think that’s good. 275. 285. 285. Getting stronger by the minute. Yeah. That workout this morning. What was the spin rate? 2,966. Yeah. Normally it’s about 33. Hit down on that more. Spun a little more. 272. 273.6. Yeah. And as you said, 800 up in spin. Yeah. So, if I catch it a little out the top of the face, then maybe I’ve got an extra five yards on most clubs. Is it something that you feel like you can manipulate on any shot? you’re getting more spin on it, especially with the longer clubs. I would normally do that with shape, not strike location. I already struggle to hit the middle of the face as it is. So, driver should go about 300 y. That’s pretty good. You want me to guess how far it went? 304 308 308 and spin 23 2231. Well, I say that’s good for a driver. It’s up to you. I I’ll hit one more. Bit more spin, better shot. I’ll go uh 306. Take two yards off it. 306. Happy with them? Yeah. Perfect. Should we clean the clubs or does it matter? Yeah, we want to have clean clubs. It might help then being dirty to be honest. Yeah. First spin to go longer. All right. First 60 then. How far would you hope to be able to muscle this? 105. Oh, actually I might do it by I might just knife this one. That might be better. Catch it thin. This could really ruin it for me right off the bat. But what’s your usual with this? Remind us. 88. But I’m going to knife it. And well, that was a good bit big. That was 120, I reckon. 139. That is a good start. I might have to do that with every wedge. Actually, I’m going to try and knife every wedge in. If I get one wrong, it will be zero. Oh, that’s good. The directions out the window, but the carry is there. 159. This is a good start, boys. 139. 159. That’s a good 70 yard jump on most of these clubs. Try not I’ll try and knife this one again. I might be losing uh efficiency now. 145. 14. I might still go down this route. I think I won’t. That will be the last one. 145. So I gain 20. And then pitching wedge. Hope to get 150. 153 99 170 hopefully. How am I doing? Am I doing all right? You’re doing pretty well. That’s good. 170 would be good. 168. What was that? A ner. Yep. 175. That’s probably everyone’s average eight iron though, to be honest. Don’t hit my irons that far. What’s the club head speed on that 7? Uh, let me guess. Let me guess. 100 101 club speed and carry 190. What would it usually be for your seven? 89. How far did that go? 190. That’s pretty good. You know, I’m supposed I’m a good chipper and that’s what you should be filming. Not any of this. 204. Yeah, I think I’m struggling now. But club speed was 104. Was it quick? That was good. Hopefully 225. 221. It’s probably more important to hit the middle of the face with the woods than hitting it hard. But 251. Oh, that’s a good one. This a bit of a missile. If I can launch this high enough. Oh, too spinny. 260. 266.4. Good. So you’re 530 behind right hand who’s leading with two left. So should cruise to victory. Well, just got to hit the middle of the face with this one. Oh yeah, that’s good. Hopefully that’s gone. 300 294.4. So what have I got to win? 269 to win. Oh, that’s good. Nice. Think that’s got it. Yeah. 318.8. So 319. Champion. Total of 2684, which is winner by 81 yards. Oh wow. I think knife in the wedges is a secret there, won’t it? It’s good. Knows his numbers! 😮 The 8 iron call out of 147 was extraordinary considering his normal stock yardage with the club. Amazing feel.
Scottie scheffler levels of feel. I played Harry’s home course in Cornwall a few years ago and have loved following him since. Could see him in the next Ryder cup 💪
