It’s rare a week goes by without the arrival of yet another internet trend. Swapping euro-summer for goth-girl autumn? Trying pumpkin spice nails? Or perhaps you’re entering into your ‘Granola Girl’ era, whatever that means. Whichever tribe you’re drawn to, it seems we might’ve already run out of ideas. Yes, that’s right, it’s time to grab your Werther’s Originals, as dressing like a Grandad is back once again. Remember last year’s ‘eclectic Grandpa’ vibe? Of course you do. Well for 2025, the cosy trend returns with a more elevated and refined feel. Instead of kitschy cartoon knits, colourful sweater vests and tweed caps, there’s chic zip-up blousons, corduroy slacks and neat leather loafers. It’s the season of the Golf Grandad.

Take note from the autumn/winter ’25 runways, which confirmed Golf Grandad as one of this season’s biggest trends. At Miu Miu, models sauntered down the catwalk dressed in beigey blousons and leather brogues paired with woollen socks, while Khaite’s fall collection saw Argyle knits that would look right at home on the golf course.

Of course, the fashion pack have jumped on this trend. Out at fashion week, street stylers were already spotted wearing slouchy cords and knitted sweater vests layered under tweed blazers. The key is all in the fabrics: look to heavyweight wool tailoring paired with lightweight sports coats. Knitwear plays a key part, too, consider &Daughter’s diamond check cashmere knit your autumn essential worn with tonal shades of brown and beige.

So, get ready to fall asleep in the nearest armchair, we’ve entered into Grandad autumn.
