It’s a busy time at the Orbost Golf Club, with this weekend seeing their next major event, the Weekend of Golf.

A wide range of events and prizes will be highlighted by a $1000 hole-in-one comp throughout the weekend, which has attracted plenty of interest.

The committee has been working hard to get the course, surrounds and club house in its best possible condition to showcase everything that is great about Orbost golf.

Saturday’s event will be “A’” and “B” grade stableford, with Sunday “A” and “B” grade ambrose, with both events shotgun starts.

BAIRNSDALE TOURNAMENT

Young local star, Blake Robinson won the Bairnsdale 27 hole tournament last week, shooting sensational rounds of 71 and 35 to finish two strokes ahead of a quality field of Gippsland finest golfers.

FOURSOMES CHAMPIONSHIP

Recently a committed field of 20 players contested the mens foursomes championship, played in typical spring golfing conditions.

The eventual winners were John Cuthbertson and Steve Robinson who took five play off holes to overcome Peter and Jacob Farley who were all tied after 18 holes.

RECENT WINNERS

Victorious on course recently have been Tony Munday (last Wednesday) and Laurie Billman, who returned from winter hibernation with a sensational 43 points.

While Craig Savory claimed the ‘Eagles Nest’, making easy work of the 17th with his length off the tee and scoring well deserved two.

It’s been coming for a while and he will probably hang onto his new clubs for a bit longer now.
