Tiger Woods Back Surgery Explained! Tiger Woods
Tiger Wood shared moments ago that recently upon having lack of mobility and pain in his lower back, he consulted doctors and surgeons to have some tests taken. These scans revealed that he had a compressed disc in L4 L5, some disc fragments, as well as compression of his spinal canal. As a result of this, he underwent a surgery known as a lumbar disc replacement for his L4 L5 segment. The lumbar spine is the lower spine in the spinal column and it consists of five segments L1 through L5 each coming with a corresponding disc. When somebody suffers a disc injury, what’ll happen is those disc fragments will come out and they will either pinch on the spinal nerve which is located through here or they can pinch on that central canal which is what Tiger Woods was dealing with. The lumbar disc replacement surgery is just like it sounds. Basically what they are going to do is they are going to be removing the damaged disc and they’re going to be inserting a synthetic disc. By replacing the disc, we are still allowing that segment to move freely versus another surgery known as a lumbar fusion where basically hardware is going to be put in and those two segments are going to be fused together and they will no longer
Tiger Woods recently shared that he underwent a L4/L5 disc replacement surgery. In this video I explain the Tiger Woods surgery as well as how that compares to other options.
