This Golf Simulator is INCREDIBLE!

What I’m about to show you in this video, I think is going to blow your mind and also revolutionize how we learn to play golf better. It’s a bold statement, right? But check this out. Before we start, let me tell you a quick story. When I first ever started golf coaching, I mean, we’re talking 16, 17 years ago now. I started coaching with almost no technology, no cameras. Cameras weren’t really a big thing at that stage. It was really just I using my eyes to try and help a golfer get better. When the introduction of cameras came in, it made that process so much easier. I could finally show my students how they swing, what they need to work on, how to improve. It revolutionized the game. A few years passed, not many years, until launch monitors then became an unbelievable teaching tool. Having a launch monitor, whether it be a GC quad or a Trackman, all these other things to help show you what your club actually does, how does it hit the ball, how does it operate? And that again was a gamecher. What I’m going to show you right now, I believe is this next step in gamechanging technology. This is Focus by Amplus. Now, I saw this a couple of years ago at the PGA show over in Orlando and I was blown away. It was the best thing that I’ve seen because instantly my coaching DNA went straight back to when I was 18, 19 years old, sat driving range with zero technology. I’ve gone, I look at this now and go, “Wow, how much quicker, how much easier would I improve golfers game by using this?” So, in simple terms, it’s a projector that pushes down onto the mat. You see this projector up above my head? And when I hit a golf shot, it’s going to show my club delivery in a perfect situation right here on the floor. In fact, let I’m not going to talk about it. Let me show you. This technology is in conjunction with GC Quad. They work really well together. Um I’ll come on to price in a little bit, but let me just show you what it does. So I when I put a ball on the mat, so I can put a ball on the mat, it’ll identify where that ball is. It’ll put a circle around it and adjust that target line. And I’ve just got a seven iron in my hand here. I’m just going to hit a shot into the screen. That was a pretty nice golf shot straight away in front of me here. This is what’s presented. How cool is that? It’s showing me all of the data from carry distance 174 yards, the fact I hit it five yards offline, but then it’s showing the movement of the golf club, the path, the club face rotation, even the deflection like when it hits that was slightly lower from the heel. Even the way the club twists, it’s all there in front of me. So this is my view. So this is what you can see. How cool is that? And it was instant after I hit the shot. You can see the iron head coming into the ball. You can see the way it rotates. You can see that my path is on the inside of that line. Like my path, this line here is on the inside of that white line. And you can even see here club path 4.7° into out. Face angle 3.8° close to my path. Angle of attack 3.7° down. Like it’s all there in front of you. Like, how good is that? And to be honest, the only reason why it’s not clearer is actually just cuz it’s on the mat. Like, actually, the projector is perfectly clear. It’s obviously just not the clearest of surfaces when you’re putting onto a mat, but you can read it. You can see it. It’s unbelievable. So, so clever. Also, let me show you something else. I’m just going to hit another shot here. So, let me just put the ball back down so everything resets. Let’s hit another shot. So again, all that information in front of me at that 177 yards, zero yards offline. I want to show you this. This is really interesting. If I go over to the screen here, you can quite I mean this is actually a camera view. So if I play this uh that’s reverse, is it not in reverse? Play in normal direction. You can see the club coming through the shot. You can see the curvature in slow motion. You can see the face closure. Like you can see it all. And then you can go even slower. You can go frame by frame. Boom. Boom. Boom. And actually the slower the swing speed even you see more uh indicate um more markers. You actually see even more. Look at this. Boom. That’s impact slightly from the toe. getting all that information. Oh, it’s a it’s a it’s a coach’s dream. But let me tell you how I think it can work for for golfers. Because when I when I really go back to the core again, being a golf coach and why I would have seen it so beneficial, there’s four learning styles. There’s kesthetic, so the feel of something. There’s audio being told something and taking that that information on. There’s reading and writing. But the most important certainly for me and also I feel like again the years of coaching I did visual learning is so so high. Certainly in golf this gives you that virtual learning like you can see it. So let I’m going to show you some examples. I saw this type of swing a lot because this produces a big slice. I saw a lot of guys come in and they would go, I’m slicing it. I don’t know why I’m I’m hitting this big slice and they would do a swing something like this and that would just be a big banana out to the right hand side. Straight away here on the mat, I can show you why. Like your club direction through the ball is going that way. It’s going from out to in. You can see it. Again, I can show a golfer on this screen and go, if this white dotted line is the target line, your club is moving across that line with the club face doing its best to open. Like, I can show a golfer that in seconds. I mean, to be honest, that’s that’s not a horrendous one. I saw big I saw bigger slices than that, believe me. And certainly if I was using driver, in fact, let me get a driver. So, I’ve just grabbed the driver. And what it’ll do now, it’ll know if I put this club behind the ball. I know when I hit, it’ll switch to driver because it knows I’ve now hitting a driver. Again, if I just play that swing where big slicer comes in and they go, I just don’t know why I’m slicing it. Please tell me, Rick, please help me. Please fix me. And they hit a shot something like this. I mean, that is a big big banana slice. Or I can go on here. Or you can see on the mat in front of you how that club is moving through the ball. It is going from out to in. And the face is open. And what I love about this technology as well, just watch. I’ve hit slightly from the toe there. Notice the club face and notice how it’s going to twist. It starts to twist massively open. That’s gear effect kicking in. Like when you don’t hit the middle, the face twists. So that club is doing everything it can. This is why twist face things like that exist to try and help the ball from not rotating too aggressively. Like that’s given me the visuals because then again I can say to a golfer, someone who’s really struggling with a slice, okay, show me a practice swing without a ball doing the opposite. Like almost feel like the club’s moving this way through. Get the sensation. and you’ve just seen your club travel from out to in. Can we see now the club head go this way more? Can you exaggerate that feeling? And then a golfer will stand up there and it might not be the first go, might not be the second go, but over a few shots they’ll go, “Okay, I I understand my club travels that way.” And I can show you a number that was 9.1 traveling from out to in. Okay, that’s what’s causing you slice. Can you make it go the other way? You might make some adjustments. You might move the body. You might drop the right foot back. You might, you know, do a couple of things to help it, encourage it, but then just make the swing go the opposite way. And that straight away, the direction you can see it. I’ve I’d have a golfer there in front of me just like they’d be on the ground going, “Oh my goodness, it’s moving differently.” Like that’s how you see it. Time the club was 5.1 into out. The face was closed. The angle of attack was more upwards. It’s hit a massive banana shot to the left. That would be a slicer’s dream. And again, you could go over to here very easily. See how different that club is to the ball. The desire for getting better at golf has been around since golf began. Everyone wants to get better at golf. And over the years, certainly when technology has come in, there’s been technological advances to help people get better at golf. Again, like I said, video analysis, huge, very visual, very easy to be able to see. Oh, that’s the movement I’m doing. You’ve gone then into data techn, you know, technology, launch monitors, massive, again, huge advantage. This for me, this visual right in front of you. More importantly, at the moment of impact where it counts, right here, as the club’s hitting the ball right there. this kind of 18 inches before contact, 18 inches after the most important aspect and that’s exactly what’s presented here. Now listen, I’m not expecting I’m I’m just wanting you to show to show what technology out there. I was blown away when I saw it in Orlando. We’ve got it here now in the studio and I can’t wait to use it a lot more. It comes at a price though. Are you ready for this? for the focus and the for the full package the focus the full camera package including PC and projector $15,000. So if you got a spare $15,000 maybe it’s for you. If you then got just Focus and the software it’s $9,000. Um I mean it’s a lot of money. It’s a hell of a lot of money but so are launch monitors. And I know a lot of you watching now might have some level of launch monitor. What I envision for the future or what I want to see in the future, the technology now is here. It’s there. It’s right above my head. It’s amazing. Over the time, it’ll get better. Of course, it will. It’ll also get a bit cheaper. It’ll also become a bit more accessible. For you guys watching, there might be a time where you could actually use one of these potentially. If you’re a golf coach walking watching this video, I would strongly recommend you to look at making this investment because I honestly think this will make lessons so much easier. And I tell you what, if you are looking at taking lessons and you know somebody who you’re taking lessons off has got a focus, I genuinely think you’ll improve quicker. It’s not perfect yet, but it’s very, very, very good. Guys, thanks for watching. Stay tuned. Lots more to come. And I can’t wait to see how I will hopefully improve much quicker by spending hours locked in the studio here on Focus. We’ll see you next time.

  1. The bonus with this gadget is that many golfers probably say to themselves, "The coach is wrong, how on earth could he see that in three hundreths of a second? I know what I felt." Now he'll see the truth and believe it. No argument.

  2. You can tell rick was a coach first with this video, still has the passion even if his career has moved on.
    Great video 👍🏻

  3. Really cool concept, however, there will be an app that will cost $49.99 and have every bit of functionality except for projecting on the ground. If this company is smart, there will be its competitors to the punch.

  4. Hi Rick – does this also pick up for putting? I could see that being a massive help for making sure the face is square with the instant feedback.

  5. At $10,995? They are smoking something if they expect anyone to spend this in addition of an already expensive GC3, GCQuad or Falcon. ALL OTHER launch monitors provide slow motion impact cam FOR FREE. This private equity firm that now owns Bushnell and Foresight needs to wake up and realize that this is not feasible and will continue to lose market share at their price points.

  6. I have always wondered why more indoor golf instructors don't have top down cameras. This setup is nice but it doesn't cost $15,000 to add another camera to a setup.

  7. I'll stick to my rapsodo which tells me the path and shows me a video of the swing to prove it…for £600!

  8. I hope there will be golf simulators where golfers can practice…..you'll quickly learn how to get your swing in order.💪

  9. I think Rick must have paid the $15000 from the cash he had stuffed around his body. , he's rocking the bod of Rick 20 years ago..

  10. You've got to be a really thick student to not understand your pro telling you about path , face angle and angle of attack. Is the technology really doing anything? Not really.

  11. I thought this was going to be about a new driver. I heard a rumour, there is a new driver ready to be released, and apparently it is the most forgiving, and longest driver out there.

  12. I don't understand why Foresight doesn't offer club impact video with any of their launch monitors. Uneekor has been doing it for ages and all of the newer camera based overhead monitors also include it in the package. Crazy that you could buy a GC Hawk or Falcon and still need this addon to enable impact video.

  13. Great bit of kit, but you could give me the whole set up for free and there would still be a problem.. somewhere to set it up 🤷🤦

  14. Great review&tech rick. Love your reviews, very informative! Still waiting for my lottery win, will buy the full set up along with a big house with a big outbuilding for this tech if I win 😁 but honestly I am impressed,it's cool tech&for those with the fortunate already stated fortune, well I wouldn't be standing around still thinking about buying it,the delivery man would be on my doorstep in the morning 😊😁 anyway it's great for tutors& golf coach's it's mind blowing.
