BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Florida women’s golf freshman Katelyn Huber was named the SEC Freshman of the Week, the league office announced. The honor is her first career and first by a Gator this season.
The Gainesville native earned the conference honor after helping No. 8 Florida win its second fall tournament in a row behind her T8 (-4) finish a The Ally. She logged all three rounds under par (70, 71, 71) to total her team-leading six under par rounds this season. Huber recorded fall finishes of 4-T21-T4-T8 and is second on the team in stroke average at 71.6. She is currently ranked the No. 48 player in the nation.
Florida’s third straight victory at The Ally marked the 11th win and 21st top-3 outing since the 2022-23 season. In this season’s fall tournaments, UF finished 3-2-1-1. The tournament title was also the 38th all-time under head coach Emily Glaser; 39th total as she was an assistant coach for a season in 2011-12. It is the third straight season with multiple wins and nine overall under Glaser in 14 seasons.
The Orange and Blue return to the course in the spring opener at the Sea Best Intercollegiate (Jan. 26-27) at San Jose Country Club, an event UF won last season.
