It’s home to legendary courses like Real Club Valddorama, a former Ryder Cup venue and the heart of elite European golf. But here’s where it gets interesting. The Alto Club is rewriting the rules. We were invited to explore this new chapter and it blew us away. Starting our trip at LIIV Golf Ander Lucia at Real Club Falddorama was an epic reminder of Sotto Grand’s rich golfing heritage. But it was just the beginning. The Alto Club review. Our base, the So Sto Grande Spa and Golf Resort, is an incredible blend of modern Andalucian design and laid-back luxury. It’s the perfect gateway to the Alto Club and its golf academy. The resort is a calm, detail- oriented oasis. From peaceful courtyards to an amazing spa, it’s all about relaxation. Our tour revealed an incredible integration of golf into the resort experience. Guests can book custom golf packages, including play at the Alto Club, La Reserver Club, and even the prestigious Valorama and Real Club Sto Grande. It’s the ultimate way to secure those highly sought-after tea times. The Alto Club, formerly Almanara Golf, has undergone a complete transformation. It’s not just about the branding. It’s a new spirit of accessibility and enjoyment for golfers of all levels. The star of this rebirth is the Alto Club Golf Academy, a top-notch practice and coaching facility that brings a modern familyfriendly vibe to Soto Grande. Built on the former Alconox 9-hole loop, the academy boasts cuttingedge technology, top tracer powered driving ranges, a large short game area, dedicated putting greens, and a new par three course designed by local legend Manuel Panero. It’s all about fun and engagement. Suzanne Patterson, two-time major winner and Soulheim Cup captain, is the global ambassador for the academy. Her influence is everywhere from the enjoyable coaching philosophy to the facilities that welcome golfers of all ages. She believes golf should be inspiring and open and we couldn’t agree more. The academyy’s approach is a breath of fresh air, combining performance with a warm and inclusive atmosphere. On the main course, the Alto Club continues this theme of accessibility. Traditional T- markers are gone, replaced by four unique character courses themed by animal symbols and yardage. It’s a fun and symbolic touch, inviting golfers to play their own game. The symbols are everywhere, from tea boxes to scorecards and merchandise. The Alto Club is a serious golf experience with pristine fairways and challenging water hazards. It’s all about accuracy, and the position of your T-shot is crucial. Despite being a resort course, the quality is exceptional, making it a must- visit for any golfer on Spain’s G Coast. Final thoughts. Sto Grande has always been the ultimate golfing destination in Spain. And now with the Alto Club and its academy, it’s even more vibrant and progressive. Alongside icons like Valdderama and Real Club Sto Grande and the modern La Reserver Club, the Alto Club offers an accessible five-star golf experience for golfers of all levels.
