Here's the link to the news video. Quite funny. Apparently he was using jail commissary to pay for golf. Paid that back but then his tee times were pulled and he was golfing during "working hours". Hopefully they don't pull any of our work schedules and tee times

I think that there are a lot of roles where people are cool about you doing what you like with your time as long as you get your work done. I know my job (sales) is like that, and many of my friends who are software engineers feel the same.
However, there are other roles (elected ones, like a sheriff), where you ARE the job. Being and acting like a sheriff should is part of the entire deal.

I’ve never criticized anyone for golfing and think stressful positions like this and the president should golf more. I’ve formed great relationships, gotten deals done, and made great memories. It’s a magical place

Place I used to work for (private company) had two requirements – do your damn job well and golf when told to. I spent hours and hours on the clock golfing and having the time of my life. I miss that company and their wonderful ways.
Play the video news report. It’s pretty weak tea. I imagine he is putting in more hours during the day and is accessible. It’s just over 3 rounds per month.
here I am thinking I’m gonna get canned if I hit traffic after my lunchtime range session. I can’t imagine having the balls to book an actual tee time on the clock…

I recently saw a segment where a prison is using golf as a way of rehabilitating prisoners and giving them healthy things to focus on and keep them out of trouble and apparently it works really well.
This gives me an idea:
Prisons should open up golf courses. Nonviolent offenders would be taught groundskeeping and the course could be open to the public. At certain times/days then the course would close and be available to prisoners that have displayed good conduct and a willingness to stay within their rehab programming. They learn some skills, get to have some fun, and learn a healthy hobby.
