I’m about halfway through setting up my outdoor golf simulator, and I’d love some feedback or suggestions from anyone who’s done a similar outdoor build.
Wife’s requirements:
– It has to be easy to take down if needed
– It couldn’t break the bank
– Everything must fit into an outdoor storage box
I’m working with a small house and a garage too narrow to swing in, but we’ve got a quarter-acre lot with a flat backyard fire pit area, so that’s where I’m building it and confirmed I had the needed length for a reasonably priced simulator (~20').
Current setup:
10' x 12' cheap turf from Lowe’s (about $0.85/sq. ft.) — ~$110
Yunic golf driving cage 10' x 10' x 10' (Amazon) — $420
Golf Guru elite golf mat (Amazon) — $150 (off cam)
Gazebo cover to help enclose the cage and keep pine needles off — $150
Outdoor LED lights with channels — ~$50
Mevo Gen 2 — ~$1,200 (off cam)
Total invested: $2080
Planned Black Friday additions:
Golf simulator projector floor cover — $90
Laptop tripod stand — $30
ViewSonic PS502W 4000-lumen short-throw projector — $579
Durbles golf impact screen — $189
Total Planned investments: $888
Estimated completed total: $2,968
Any suggestions or improvements you’d recommend? Yes, it won't be able to be used on a rainy day because it's an uncovered space but I worked with what I had and I'd love feedback!

Everyone with an outdoor cage wonders whether it can be covered to make a projector work. Keep us posted.
