[Music] Welcome back to the Back N round two coverage of the Cardinal Clash powered by Flight Flight Lab and presented by Jax Roofing by a roof. Uh we’ve got uh Tyler Fischer, two-time Tyler Fischer. We got Bryce Duncan, the Jacks Roofing Man himself, and yours truly, Kevin Fodri on the mic. We are excited. We have a heater coming down the stretch. Uh we saw Frank play pretty nice on the front. Only one little blemish on his round. Uh Bickl had a little bit of a hiccup down. Started out hot, but we’ve got some hot action. You’ll see uh Kevin’s coming up. Uh I’m I’m coming up behind on Frank there. I think we’re tied there uh through nine holes. So the the back nine has a lot of score separation because we’re playing 10 holes on the back n moving. We got one more of the permanent hole number 10. 670 ft. That line you can see on the left is an out- of- bounds line. You got to turn something over. You’re looking to get far down there. Big S line. These guys are going to be trying to throw 500 ft off the tee here. I expect to see something big from Big Hole. Primary goal here is to make sure you make the mando. There is a mandatory on the right side tree and then get inbound. So, uh, with the OB line, I think you’ll take away a lot of the distance. I know for me, I personally throw a backhand here normally, but I throw a sidearm when the when the OB line is painted just to make sure I’m getting in bounds. This hole was just a blast. Just unload down the hill. Just got to turn it. We’re seeing two forehands here. They’re trying to stay away from that out of bounds. Make sure that they get in. Even from there, they’re going to have less than 400 ft into the basket. They’re going to be throwing one out there, hoping to go right here. Terrify. Frank’s trying to decide what he’s going to do. Forehand. He’s going to throw a backhand. We won’t know until he throws it. Backhand. It is. Boom. He got the big turnover. Yeah, it’s a move on. He got He got it turned over pretty good. It’s uh it’s in a That’s good. That’s good. Sometimes it’s pretty easy to turn it over too much. Trying to make sure you’re in bounds and then they cut roll out of bounds anyway. So, that’s a great shot from Frank. This right here is the signature bickle boom. It’s going to go boom. Yeah. But it looks like maybe too much nose up. Yeah, that’s going to be out of bounds. And it’s going to be out of bounds early. Yeah. Yeah. You’re going to see just how early it is. They do talk about it. Yeah. And right at the Yeah. They’re having a discussion here. There was uh not a line painted sideways, so it was hard to tell where you would begin the out of bounds line. That’s uh that’s on the the tournament staff, myself. Uh but how far of a shot you think this is? They did play the correct shot. This is about 480 feet. So, Bickle definitely has it in his wheelhouse. He should be able to get up and down from here. If he if he puts a move on it, look at that. Put a move on it. He put a move on it. Yeah. Yeah. He’s got he’s got that shot in his be an amazing par if he’s able to clean that up. Yeah. No showing you what chip forehand. Another forehand trying to just put this one close. The basket does go downhill afterwards pretty quick. you could kind of roll down into that uh into that ditch behind and have a little bit of a tough putt. Yeah, really easy to give yourself 30 ft on this hole. Uh and there is OB long doesn’t really come into play. That’s why you’ll see a lot of people throw the sidearm into the green just so you’re diving away from it, but backhand it comes in play pretty fast. Beanie leaking a little bit right there. Just kind of lifted that one again on him. Here’s Frank’s drive. Absolutely smoked it. He’s going to have a nice chip forehand. anything you want to do. Leaks a little bit long right down the ditch. Thankfully, he’s like right behind the basket, so it probably didn’t go to more than 20 22 feet. Yeah, it it it gives you a little more stress than you’d like to have after throwing that good of a drop. Count it. Nice putt. Take a look at that again. Just knew it out of the hand. Money. Yeah. See here, Frank’s got about a 20 22 footer. Yeah. And test, too. And this wind’s been kind of annoying. So, it’s like this is a nervy putt, especially cuz he’s missed a few already on the front. So, never a doubt. Almost looked like a strong side, right side. That’s catching all day. Almost looked like a step inside. So, it almost did, but he kept his balance behind. He pul I think he pulled it back. Yeah, it’s an it’s an OG uh James Conrad move. Nolan’s sticking to the Nolan wanted to try and stay in it. He likes it. He’s I think he hated it. And it’s in. No one likes to hit dead center and dead center only. That was uh that was that was a good book. It was perfect. Elijah with the pars you’ll see though. Kind of an uncharacteristic play here from Elijah. Normally he is dead on from the tea. Yeah. Hole number 11. 37 ft going over the road. And it is an island hole. And the hole is the island is about 40 ft around and you got these trees. It’s really, it was again really windy. Really easy to leave this short uh or try to overcompensate to make sure you get there and juice it long. So, uh I think a lot of people miss this island today. So, yeah, it will be the first tent pole you will see on this side. That’s basically all you want to do is just throw an overstable fairway driver or mid-range, keep it on hiser, skip up towards the trees, and have a putt. It’s It’s a really cool green because if you’re right in front of it or you’re right behind it, it’s a really easy putt. But if you’re diagonal or like sideways to the basket, you have very little putt because the trees are like perfectly in line with it. This one plays forehand and backhand. Yeah. Pick your is going to show us the forehand. It’s whatever you can throw 300 ft. Oh wow. Hit the basket. Wanted a tree. Didn’t quite get it, but stayed in bounds. Yeah, good danger of going long. Yeah, I think that was probably going deep if it didn’t hit the bucket. Yeah, Frank looks like he’s just lining up a stockheiser here. It’s that green zone again. A flippy zone. Yeah, it’s it’s flippy for a zone. How well do you know Frank’s bag? Uh, well, I play about 100 rounds with him, so decently well, but I just know that green zone. He talked about it a lot. That’s a birdie. Yeah, that’s a great job. Elijah trying to recover after a couple rough holes. Or is it just Z? Yeah. See, Frank is talking about the Zone right now because it is very straight. Here’s Beanies. You can see just maybe edge of the circle just inside just outside. Another step or he walks that one in a little bit. It’s a look again. He knew it. Yeah. Back to back. C2 fist pump. He’s feeling it. He’s liking it. I got you. Yeah. Yeah, it’s it had just started to rain here. Uh it rained pretty heavy for about 15 minutes. Uh while I was on the hardest hole of the course putting that one on the pole as well. Frank tapping in. Yeah, that’s a great shot on this hole. He just missed the CTP. It looks like somebody else got it. It’s tough, but that’s a pretty good shot. Elijah looking to clean up the starframe here. Are we going to get that $25 donation for the Wendy’s of Yes, we are. Nice. Let’s go. Star frame. That’s going to be a $25 donation to the wind women’s indie disc golf league. That’s awesome. We got part 12. Hole 12. Par 12. That’d be great. Hole 12. 369 ft. It’s a hiser. This one grown up tree blocks that hiser line though, so you have to come in right behind it and dart it or you got to skip in front of it. Um, this hole again just plays pretty stock for all of these guys who can throw 400 plus. But if you don’t have the distance, this hole is hard. Quick like Nolan here looks like he’s trying to tee off a little bit back from the line. Maybe open up his angle a little bit around that low hanging branch. Let that hiser kind of swing back in. missed that tree that Kevin was talking about. Stayed a little bit wide. A little bit of something. Yeah. Is gonna be right in his line or something. It looks very open, but it there are definitely spots you can get where the putt is very obstructed. So, it’s a it’s a little bit of a false front there. Yeah. Rare backhand from Beanie. Gives himself a wideopen look. Just maybe outside the circle. I think that might be right where he wants to be right now after making two 38 footers. 38 ft’s feeling pretty good for him right here. Yeah. Yeah, he’s pretty comfortable in that range in the last two holes. So, he’s feeling pretty good about this. Frank’s looking to keep riding that wave here. Big spike eiser gets away from him a bit. He was he was blown away by the wind. It was very windy at this point in the round. So, it’s kind of not really looking like it too much on the trees, but I can assure you it was windy. Especially when you’re coming from a hidden cove like this where there’s that wall of trees, you don’t really feel it at all. And then you throw out there and it just takes it away. Yeah, putting it right over the basket. Probably leaves himself about 25 ft. Here’s Beanie from basically the exact same range he just hit two putts on. And strange, there’s We’re get We’re only getting the behind the basket cam here. Looking to line up another stepper. Just let that one go a little bit late. Little bit right. Still feeling good. He hit two in a row. Frank lining up a stepper himself. Yeah, he’s got a pretty unobstructed putt. It’s a little something on the right, but yeah. Oh, count it. He loves it. He bounces her in off the nubs. What we always say, there is no pictures on the scorecard. Yeah, I believe that’s going to be a video. Second turkey of the round. He loves it. He gives it gives a little props to the branch. More hair flopping in the videos. Beautiful to see. Vicle’s got a another putt here. He knows he he really doesn’t have a lot of room to mess up here. So, yeah, everything’s got to feel like a must make for him right now. Ice in the veins. So BL’s sitting a little bit back here, about five strokes back now of Frank. Do you think Bickle’s thinking, “Okay, I got six holes left. I got to eagle them. I got to birdie. I got to get them all. I got a chance at this.” Or do you think Bickl’s fighting for position trying to trying to Yeah, we really didn’t. We designed these tempoles to not really be eagleable. Um, so it’s they’re tough birdies, though, and there’s definitely opportunities to blow up. Uh two holes in a row you’ll have OB inside circle and uh in a couple of holes we have one where you can basically advance none multiple shots in a row. Yeah. B squared here cluing it up his par. No one tapping it in. You can see clear frustration there. He that’s a musket to him. 369 fter. He’s got that all day. Take a look at that leader board. Looks like Kevin, you’re still hanging in there with Frank. Yeah. 10 down through 12. 10 down. That is an absolute heater. And that will We got a little chase car check in here. Chase car checkin. The stepper that looks like it might be inside the circle. Kevin, what do you think? For sure not. But uh that was double. So clean it up. So that will bring us into hole number 13. Another temple OB right over the path. Yep. There is a line painted left here. It is pretty narrow and pretty long. There is no line on the left. I can tell you from personal experience, you do not want to be in the shot net or the discus net. Yeah. Don’t throw. That is not where you want to be. You won’t even see. There it is. Right there. Don’t throw there. Yeah. Everybody’s just kind of looking to just unload their farthest throwing hiser here. Put it right in the middle. Yeah. We uh this this hole is uh is we we tried to design a couple of holes where you get a kind of just unload your shot on this hole and go as far as you want, but you you do have to think about it on this hole a little bit just because there is the OB, right? You can see BLE was thinking about it a little bit. Slipped a little bit on the on the T. Did not have to worry about that shot putting up though. As long as you’re getting the distance off the tee, this is a must birdie for all of these guys on the card. 715 foot wide open par4 as long as you don’t flip one over into the out of bounds. You’re looking birdie all day from anywhere on the fairway. As long as you can control the speed coming into the green cuz the the OB is about 15 ft right of the basket, 20 ft right of the basket and it does slant down towards the OB line. So, it’s uh I’m I’m there was quite a few people that uh went OB on this shot on the upshot after a phenomenal drive. So, here we got Beanie throwing the forehand. This one’s a little bit riskier as it’s naturally going to finish towards that OB. A little low again. Cut roll back to the middle. He should, you know, he will still try and challenge it from there. He’s got, you know, it’s a shorter par4, so he still has a chance to get it. It’s just going to be a lot harder. And you’re coming into that that tiny green faster. Soaking sneaking all the way through the trees. Still not going to be an easy up and down from there as Obie’s right behind the basket. Nolan a little bit pinched up on this tree. Going to throw forehand out wide. Let it kind of crash in there. See if he can get it to forehand stand still. Gets it up by that tree. Yep. Yeah, just fine. Nice little roll at the end to give him an open putt. Yeah, but again, a nervy little putt. You miss that or hit the rim, you’re going to roll out of bounds for sure. It’s like Frank’s lining up that zone he was talking about again. Just pop it out there. Swing it in. Great shot. Frank’s right where day’s work. Right middle of the fairway. Nice easy putter approach. Bickle here has to go a little wider than he may have wanted to. Yeah, I might want to go a little higher. Spiking. Still a nice easy stock shot. That should be a nice tap in for birdie. Yeah, no ground play. Just sits right where it lands. beanie with a that is a just leaks it out to the right. OB unfortunately catches that path you were talking about that slope and it can get away from you quick. Really surprised to see the sidearm going into that green from that angle. I mean it’s a pretty stock backhand from that spot. So and he definitely has a good enough backand for that. Frank staying on fire picks up his fourth in a row. Yeah, that was a little further away than I thought it was after watching the upshot land that I mean he still had a good 20 25 ft on that. Oh, looked parked. Yeah, that’s going to move him to 21 down. So, Frank at this point knows that you’re charging. Yeah, but I did just take a double. You did just double, but he still knows you’re you were 10 down through 12. He knows he’s got to have his foot on the gas. Got to keep birdieing. Nolan here. Little tester. Dead center. See, he’s happy with that one. Dead center. He’s happy. Two inches higher. Unhappy. It’s my type of guy. I’m happy on any putt that goes. Got to have it in there. Yeah. Brennan unfortunately catches that OB. Looking to trying to clean this up for a bogey. You can see that wind just ripping. Yeah, this is giving. This is a nervy putt especially to a even though these baskets do catch pretty decent. It’s a nervy putt to a practice basket in the wind. Mhm. Not nervy to be squared. Not to be square. Elijah once again he’s got to feel like this is a must make. It shouldn’t be a problem for him, though. And it’s not. Yeah. Every putt uh from here on out is non-negotiable for Bickl. He’s got to make every single one uh to even have a chance to really not even to win, but to just scare Frank. Mhm. Got our chase car checking again. This is right after a double bogey. 290 ft par 3. Skinny skinny green. Giving that one a run. Parked it. And that’s how you make the comeback. That’s what you want to see out is letting Frank know I’m not giving up. Yeah. Yeah. We played this hole in the 15 minutes of rain. This is This is a very hard temp hole. It’s 664 ft par4. The fairway is at its widest 50 ft wide. Um usually in most spots it’s about 45. It is uh OB left and right. You are teeing from out of bounds. So if you do not get inbounds throwing this hiser line, you are reeing. So OB line runs down the left side along the trees. Frank here, all he’s trying to do, distance does not matter. Get the disc inbounds. Absolutely. Perfect shot. So he’s checking scores. He knows you double bogeied. He knows a par here. Takes two. Yep. That’s all he’s trying to do. Bickle, he’s trying to go boom. He’s trying to do a BLE thing. Yeah. He knows he has some birdie at least. So he he might even Bickle throws far. He might even be thinking eagle. But again, the wind was just so hard. Yeah, at this point for him, it can’t feel just like every putt’s a must make. It’s every throw is a We got a random kid on execute. Random kid on the run on the hole. So Nolan and Bickle here showing you the wide hiser left to right wind not really letting them get all the way back like they normally would. It’s kind of them here. It looks like it let up a little bit. Perfect though. But still not bad. It’s going to be all you need on that hole. Beanie here trying to get back. Yeah, that’s that’s going to be fighting over towards it and just line. Unfortunately, he does catch it. It is on the back side of those trees. So, if you are, you know, in front of those trees or in line with them, you know, you’re going to be inbounds. Um, but it is, I mean, it’s a tiny fairway for sure. Yeah, the wind just kind of ripped it and just catches just an un they kept us waiting on the sign. Yeah, that is unfortunate. Lean left again. He’s looking to save another bogey from an out-of- bounds lie. He did a last hole. We’ll see if he can do it this one. Nolan’s still trying to make his charge. Looking to spike something in there. That’s a great shot. And maybe just outside of bullseye. Padding the C1X stats. Frank going back to that zone. Probably looking to spike something in there as well. Looks like that green zone. MVP of Frank Smith’s bag for sure. Yeah. Puts it right by Nolan. Here’s Bickley. He knows what he has to do. Yeah, he’s got a an M2. Didn’t look like he liked the release, but he parked it. So, yeah, that’s going to be pretty good. And then yeah, they’re coming just to find the unfortunate again. That’s brutal trying to save the bogey. And then just unfortunate there. The double comes up quick. I can tell you from experience. Can Frank keep the heater alive? He can. Sneaks it in that right corner pocket. So it looks like Beanie at this point dropping down to double digits behind the lead. All he’s trying to do right now, stop the bleeding. Stop the bleeding. Make it into the clubhouse in the cash line. That’s all he’s trying to do. Yeah, he just wants to He wants to make a little money. Nolan, not dead center. Yeah, he showed you the left corner pockets open. Dead center happy. Not dead center. Not happy. Oh, he’s got a little smile there. Little smile that has stayed. Elijah doing what he needed to do. Huge putt. That’s confidence builder. Yep. Yep. 10footer and Beanie is the unfortunate double here. Not feeling not feeling good about that result, but it happens so fast on this hole. We saw a I think we saw everything from a birdie to like a hole again. Here’s Kevin’s third shot into the par five. Should give you another Oh, here’s the look for birdie. Yeah, I left it a little shorter than I wanted to. This going to be for par, right? No, this is for birdie. This is for birdie. Yeah, he’s letting Frank know I’m still here. I’m still here. I’m still here. Striped it. No one would have liked that one. No one would have liked that. Here we go. We got a 290 ft par three hole 15. It’s OB right. And there is no OB left on this hole. So, you can air it a little bit to the left. Um, but you end up leaving yourself a long putt with that OB is 12 ft from the basket. This has got to feel like a must get with that no OB left. Just throw something you trust out left. Look at the green zone. Unfortunate. And that’s a reti. So he’s going to be he’s going to be throwing again from there after these guys. Yeah, he may have looked at the scorecard and saw that you’re still on his heels and got a little nervous. So Elijah here’s thinking, okay, Frank went OB. Kevin took a double. I get a birdie. Yes. What’s it? Maybe just outside bullseye. Should be routine for Elijah. Looked like Nolan thought about the forehand for just a brief moment in time. That time has passed and now he’s going to the backhand. Yeah, the the sidearm makes no sense to me here. I did see a couple people throw a sidearm in this hole. I mean, why? I think Beanie is going to throw a sidearm. Yeah, we might see one. We are going to see Beanie. He’s not shying away from it. It’s uh it’s it definitely makes the uh the OB come in way later. Um so if you do go out of bounds, at least you’re probably going to tap into par, but I feel like the shot is much harder to execute and keep it close. Uh oh. Uh oh. Did that cross in bounds at any point though? Yeah, he’ll probably get it at 30. Kind of grown out there. Frank with the RET unfortunately and no green zone to throw this time. Just some green something else. Some other green disc. Any green disc. Frank throws it good. So he does what he needs. That’s what you want to do on a ret there. Put it to 12 ft. Going to be a tap in for your bogey. You’re going to lose two to Bickl there though. He’s thinking to himself, “Okay, as long as Bickl makes his tap and I’m going to be three strokes ahead with three holes to play.” Look like Beanie might have just rushed that one a bit. Nolan’s still looking to make his charge here, though. Another scary putt. We actually had this pin back there in that hole you see in the woods. Just Oh, you can see how bad he wanted that one. Overnight, we had a bunch of poison ivy grow up all over the ground there, and we didn’t want people to be getting covered in poison ivy, so we audible morning or night before the tournament, I should say. I know that back pin looks so that looked like such an awesome spot. It is a sweet pin position. Bickle willing that one in with his back foot. Little pump doing what he has to do. Picks it up. He’s still trying to chase. Bickle’s happy with that one. Frank cleaning up his bogey. Yeah, getting out with just a bogey, not a big deal. Anytime you rete and you get a single bogey, that’s pretty good. So, now we’re going to move over to a hole that I’m sure most of the competitors in this field are pretty excited to throw. Um, be cleanup. Another bogue. Believe it’s the throw far hole. It is. Yeah. Very rarely. So, we designed this hole with the uh the goal of allowing people to throw a distance line in the middle of a tournament. So, and then throw far again. Let’s take a look again. You dropped to one behind Frank. Frank’s looking at it. He’s got one clear of you. Three clear of Elijah. Elijah’s licking his chops. Almost an 1100T hole. Let’s take a look here at Kevin again. This is a very nervy hole. You got to go through the the triple mando. Triple mando. And uh we had a very stiff headwind when we threw this hole and it was making everything drift out when you when you faded. So walked up to a 55 footer. 50footer. Yeah. 50 55. Can we get the classic Kevin again? Yes, we can. Dead center. Look at that. So, that’s how you follow up a double right there with the turkey. I love it. 16 1086 ft. All they’re going to do is smash it as far as they possibly can. Then they’re going to try and do that again. Again. Yeah. You get to throw two riffs. Two rips. We did have a headwind on this hole. Um, so it did it did take away from the potential to maybe get an eagle. I think there’s only about four or five of us in the whole field who have the ability to get an eagle on this hole. And this guy’s one of them. Oh yeah, Vicle could do it. Yeah, he’s looking to keep keep his charge going. He’s throwing his power line there. You don’t really care left to right that much. He’s getting down. Yeah. Didn’t flex out for him. Still in play for birdie. Eagle definitely out of it from there, but with his power, he can definitely birdie it. Yeah, you can see those flags just ripping. Nolan checking card making sure there’s no OB. He can’t believe you would leave a hole this wide open, but you didn’t. Nolan gets a nice move on that one. He’ll be looking to do that again. All Frank is trying to do is not worm burn it. That’s all he’s trying to do. Get it in the air. Let the Frisbee fly. Yeah, Frank’s a big dude. He throws pretty far. Yeah, it looks like he got that one in the air. He put it in the air. The Frisbee’s flying. Yeah, he got a he got full flight out of that one. All right, let’s see what beanie beanie interesting going backhand. Maybe the forehand has just burned him a few too many times today. Yeah, I think he’s probably feeling that. Yeah, he he’s kind of turned over the forehand a couple times. And with the ripping headwind, maybe afraid of of turning it over a little more and pure distance might be throwing that backhand just a little bit farther. Whips that one over. You can see the wind just kind of how much it uh this is a far hole. Uh you know, 186 is not short, but it is very open. Uh, basically the only obstacles on this course are inside of 20 feet of the basket and the soccer goals. And uh, you feel pretty bad in Mo not getting at least a look for a birdie on this hole. Mhm. Frank’s going to be throwing another big shot here. Trying to get as close as he possibly can. He wants a nice easy chip up or up and down for the birdie shot. He’s uh he’s probably I don’t know 100 ft out, 120 ft out. So pretty pretty far after two shots. Frank’s in musty territory from there. He’s got you at his heels. He’s got Bigle trying to make a charge. Bigle trying to do something cool here. Yeah, he’s trying to get there. He wants the eagle. He knows what he has to do. He’s got to pick up a stroke any way he can get. Looks like he slipped a little bit. Might have come out of his hand a little bit. He’s going to be farther than he wants to be. He’s trying to push and he’s got the one obstacle in his way now. He has to throw over this soccer goal. Shouldn’t be too much of a problem cuz he’s off it. But I I heard some people threw into the soccer goals during this tournament and that would be a rough spot to be in. Yep. Beanie there trying to just get up and down for his par. Little check step from Nolan here. That’s what we call good stop. Yeah, he wants it to get down. Oh, good check. Yeah, good check. So, this green is pretty tough depending on your angle. It’s kind of tucked in between all those trees. Yeah, you can get some spots where those trees just don’t allow any sort of angle coming in. I did watch one of the AMS in the first round. He dinkked one off the tree dead into the basket for his birdie. Hey, we take those. Elijah probably left that one out a little more left than he would have liked. He should have an angle coming in. Frank looking to just get up and down for the birdie. Little chip forehand. Yeah. Yeah. He’ll have a nice little poke at it from there. He finished a little to the right, so he’s got a pretty big opening there for the putt, too. Brennan looking to get up and down to save his par. Little baby flex forehand. Yep, he loves it. Yeah, you can really crash it into those trees as long as you don’t roll off them at the base. Elijah must make again. Just Oh, and and and a kind of a rough miss because now he’s got those trees again. Yep. Got the trees again. Nolan here trying to just get his par, I believe. No, this is his bird. His birdie just And that’s why Nolan doesn’t like the non dead center putts. That’s right. They’re not guaranteed if they’re not dead center. You never know. But you can see both those guys got a little bit of a tricky putt. Not nothing far, but Frank looking to pick up a stroke on the card here. Frank do be loving going to a knee for a putt. Uh you see him do it pretty frequently in a tournament. Haven’t seen him do a lot in this tournament because they’re pretty open, but being a big tall guy, I mean, look at that basket. It looks like a mini basket next to him. So he uh he likes to get down to a knee to have a little bit more of a flat level putt at the basket. up his par and it looks like Brendan and uh no one will be tapping in their pars as well. Really really surprising that the lead card got one birdie on this hole. I would argue to say it’s the easiest hole on this one. This one played tough with the big headwind coming in cuz really tough to control the nose angle into that headwind and you really need distance on your first two shots. Those guys were all in position. Too birdie. Just didn’t take advantage of it. And here comes the shot. I thought I aced it when I threw this. And I caught a branch. I fell down. I hit the base of the tree. And you can see me shocked. It rolled out of bounds by one inch. Brutal way for me to fall out of contention here a little bit. But got a about a 55 foot uh drop zone putt here. Well, Kevin, I would I would advise low ceiling. I would try to throw it just a little bit lower next time. But I banged it. Kept it 100% from C2 for the round. Write the three. Draw a circle. Go to the clubhouse. Going into hole 17. The triple mando. 335 ft. Wide open. Just get it out there. There is a stiff headwind. What will you choose? The wind had actually died down at this point. It was It was more of like a That pink flag would beg to differ there. More of a right to left here. Uh so it I think that these guys are probably going to elect more to throw like a an annheiser through this so the wind will kind of hold it straight which will help you for sure. Frank here is going trusty green. What other disc would it be? Makes the mando stays flat. Finishing great. That is perfect. That’s an absolute. He likes his own cuz it’s the color of money. Money. It is money. He’s looking at a 12footer there. Elijah’s going to just put this one in. Bring it up. Flex. He’s trying. Oh man. Trying to squeak it out. Trying to hold it over a little bit. You know, on camera it might look kind of easy, but I’m telling you that keeping it close to that basket was very hard today. How far away is that mando? How far you got to throw to get through it? It’s only about 100 ft, maybe a little less than 100 ft. But I mean, you’re throwing nose up often into a headwind and then you have to stay out there. Just shows you how much that headwind does eat it up with that nose up. And if you know anything about disc golf, you know that when your nose is up, your odds of uh hisering out increase. So throwing nose up into a hiser, then having to go and stay straight, very difficult shot. Yeah, Bernard throws a nice stall flex forehand there. I would be very willing to bet money that that was the best uh grouping of drives this whole saw the entire day. That was pretty pretty solid for sure. Like this being their output. Nolan’s about maybe 50 60 dead center. He’s loving it. He’s feeling it. He’s feeling it. That is a good putt. He’s still running it in. Walking it in. Walking it in. He’s classic. Take a look at it again from this angle. Slow it down. Very nice. That was on the pole there, bro. He’s loving it. That’s why he’s happy though. He’s loving it. We got Beanie from a similar distance. A little bit closer. Yeah. Doesn’t want to be big putted here. He will not be big. Not big putted. And I remember walking over and watching these guys going, “How in the world are they not all 100 under par?” Because these putts were very difficult. And they hardened them. Harbit them. Kind of surprised to see Beanie not go step there, but doesn’t matter. Didn’t need it. Vehicle here is going to try and tap in this 20footer. Yes, sir. On the pole. No doubt. Star frame on the triple mando. Yeah, that’s a crazy I I doubt there was a Starframe. Get us another $25 for that windy indie women’s league. That’s right. And Frank does just that. Gets us another star frame. Frank, you know, they’re they’re really just men of the people. Uh they just they they want to support women’s disc golf, so they made sure to get a couple star frames in here to send some money their way. Mhm. So, you were in Kevin’s second shot on that whole one. It was a shotgun start. He started on hole number two. So, this is his finishing hole. Is this your drive here? This is my drive. Yep. I’m I’m standing right kind of a little I hit this tree a little bit and it uh dropped me short. So, I got a pretty low ceiling and I had this tree right in my swing, so I had to throw a lot of hiser, but got it up there. Oh, yeah. Great shot. Started to rain on just a little bit and then Oh, good lord. Finish strong, Kevin. nubbed it. Nubbed it. And I knew what it cost me. Nubbed it. I believe it was my only missed putt of the round. So, felt pretty bad to end that way after putting basically probably the best putting performance of my life. So, pretty frustrating. Here we see hole number 18, 284 ft. As Kevin showed us, the key to this one is to stay low through the gap. Yeah. Or just lay up. Kind of drops off a little bit. these guys. Frank’s probably going to show you the layup here. He’s got a couple strokes on folks. He’s going to be looking to just par this one, get off the course with a victory. Yeah, he knows that basically the only way he’s he’s losing this tournament now is if he throws out of bounds, misses the drop zone, and maybe misses another putt. I think he had a two strokes at this point. So, yeah, just swing something up there short of the road. And that is a crazy decision to make given the stakes. Frank was going for it though. Yeah. I mean, Frank was trying to put it on the island. Yeah. Maybe trying to throw a drifting shot that stays on the the the wider side of the island, but uh bold choice. I like it. Laying up is not for Frank. No. And laying up shouldn’t be for anybody. It is for BL. Bickl is laying it up, though. Yeah, that was a layup. Do you think he’s trying to position jockey there? Make sure he gets a little bit of jingle in his pocket. You know, I think at that point it was kind of over. Like I don’t think he was getting the next person, but he could lose his position to the person below him. So yeah, definitely trying to get his par, get out. Yeah. No one here. He’s still trying to jockey for his position. Gets away from him. Gets the skip though. That’s what you love to do. And he is loving that finish right there. So Kevin, if you would have done that, could have been a different story. Could have. Uh yeah. I mean, here we’re going to see Beanie throwing the forehand line. The forehand actually plays really well because the the island’s way wider to the right side of the basket face. Get over just to be denied though. Unfortunately, there is a little ridge there. You cannot see that from the T. Nope. He deserved better. Pickle’s trying to take an extra long drop zone, but lay out the drive. We’re on the putt. Then Frank here just get it under the basket. Little bit of wind there, but yeah, just pitches up for the for the win. Beanie’s got the drop zone putt here. Yeah, he wants to just finish on a high note here. Save it for par. Feel good. Just a little left. You’re you’re you’re stepping a little bit downhill. There’s a a curb there. It’s in your head for sure. It’s a It’s a tough drop zone. It was very intentional to put it there. Gives you a good chance to save it, but also makes you earn it. Nolan looking to finish on a high note. It was a high note. High in the chains. That’s That’s fast. He didn’t like it, but he liked the result. Yep. Good birdie from him to finish it out. He’s going to go to 18 under par. Only one behind Bickl. Strong finish from Nolan there. Beanie, he’s happy to be off the course. Not his best round. Definitely not what he was looking for. Happy to get off course. BL 19 under par. Yeah, just needed to get that needed to get that par to not lose and have to split his cash with Nol in every spot. Paid a pretty good size difference here. So, and if you’re not a fan of Frank Smith, now you are. Yeah, Frank played phenomenal. This is the highest rated average tournament he’s ever played. His largest career cash and according to him, the second coolest trophy he’s ever gotten. 25 here. Cardinal Clash. Uh Jax Ruping presents Cardinal Clash presented by Flight Lab. Loved how close this one got! Truly a nail-biter!
11:42 "that was for double bogey"
My bad, didn't mean to camera-curse you Kevin
Definitely wasn't laying up on the last hole, wind drop was crazy😂
Hole ten amazing to watch with that tight OB, think more courses need an island hole, and those trees guarding the basket on 16 sweet
The wind was sneaky…🌬
Boi should change his name to Brendan OB-neey. 😉
