FARMVILLE, Va. – Another week, another Big South weekly honor for Longwood women’s golfer Avery Nordman.
The Lancer freshman was named the Big South Women’s Golf Co-Freshman of the Week along with High Point’s Makayla Grubb.
Nordman was the top finisher for Longwood at the Edisto Island Invitational behind three consistent rounds. She tied for 14th in the 77-player field and helped Longwood finish fourth in the 14-team event.
Over the course of 54 holes and amid howling winds, she recorded four birdies but, perhaps more impressively, did not record anything worse than a bogey despite the conditions. She finished with a 75-74-75—224 (+11). It was the fifth time in five tournaments that Nordman has finished in the top 15.
For the season, Nordman has one top 10 finish and ranks in the top 10 in the Big South in scoring average. She has posted three rounds at par or better in 15 rounds this fall.
The Lancers have completed their fall season and will return to competition in the spring at El Campeon Collegiate on February 23-24.
