Mr. Fitzpatrick building lag with the driver. And notice he’s not doing it already in the takeaway. He has a natural wrist set, but he doesn’t go into the full wrist hinge right away. At the start, you can slightly hinge your wrists — but only naturally. The real angle builds later — smoothly in the downswing, just like you see here.

A strong left hand grip has nothing to do with his ability to maintain that right angle as long as he does, stressing the shaft, and the courage to let centrifugal force release the power package as late as he does.
Man, I really like when weekend golfers see something on the internet and think they found the holy grail to stop their inconsistency and went for the range. Its so funny to watch them fail. And they will fail.
Listen to me. Been playing 30 years and a near scratch handicap. Finally figured this move out in a much simpler way to think about it. Thank you Paddy. Feel like your left arm is swiping across your chest. That's it! It will make this move so much easier. Sergio always described 'pulling on a chain,' and that imagery and feeling never really worked for me or made much sense. Swiping the arm across the chest was simple to understand and execute and will help immensely with build this lag. Have fun with it and best wishes with golf to all.

Terrific move. Curious when this was taken, looks like a SIM driver. Can you explain the lead shoulder up/trail down move significance please?
Only works because his extra strong left hand grip allows "cupping" in his left wrist without leaving the club face open

Is his left knee leading the hips on the down swing or are his hips leading and pulling his left knee around forward and to the left?

Very quick hands on transition
Awesome lag! 😮
Notice Shoulders are still square but hips are open through impact. Hard to not open Shoulders early and slice or dead pull hook.
Gotta be the strongest left hand in golf 😂
Seems like he really keeps his weight on the left side almost the entire swing

I have so much more power and control since I incorporated a more extended lead wrist as such, not sure why exactly, just my experience

Don’t try this at home. You’re gonna slice it

As opposed to what? Genuinely curious. What would be the wrong move with left arm? Away from body?
