How about giving a team 1 run for any 3 walks intentionally or unintentionally on a player.
The 5 walks on Ohtani lowered his OPS for the night. That is insane!! A walk is 1000 on base which makes it 1000 OPS. If you had an 1000 ops night, you were elite. Each walk is equal to about 1/3 of a run on avg. Jays basically conceded 2 runs on avg by walking Ohtani 5x, but got lucky and didn't give up a run. You can only get away with that so long before a big inning. You only intentional walk if the guy is batting insane and next batter is way easier to get out. They were walking him with 1 out which means the next 2 batters are easier to get out. Those guys would be named Betts and Freeman. Both of those guys had a ton of chances to win it before Freddie finally did.
Ohtani plays against the WORLDS BEST
Ruth played against ONLY white players
No comparison
Nuff said !
So many ups and downs.
Frickn insane game
crying about dodger money. so cringe.
Ohtani shuts up all the critics who said he couldn’t hit in postseason! What do they say now? ARod and Jeter used to refuse to admit how good Ohtani is. Now, they are on his side.
I think those 5 intentional walks were part of the Bluejays strategy to tire him out before he's pitching tonight
** MLB Intentional Walk Rule Is Stupid **
Watching Ohtani play is so frustrating. Baseball fan tunes in just to see him hit — he goes 4-for-4, and then the opposing team intentionally walks him five times in a row after. It’s ridiculous. He never even got another chance to swing the bat. Honestly, I might as well stop watching the Series altogether. MLB needs to change the rule: the first intentional walk, the batter goes to first; the second, he advances to second; and the third (and beyond), he should automatically go to third.
They are so scared of the man that their manager said in the press conference that he might be walking Ohtani for the rest of the series.
It's so incredibly lame that the shows on ESPN just recycle their guests from the carousel of commentators of sports on their network and other shows hosts. Over and over and over again. This network f**** sucks.
The intentional walk rule would not matter because pitchers would still pretend to pitch.
If Shohei was alive in 1942, we would have lost the war.
That NLCS Game 4 has fully convinced me that Shohei is the best baseball player of all time. He’s already done some incredible things like the 50/50 game or the 10 Ks and 3 home runs game, and the thing is I think he can still accomplish more. We are simply watching the best to ever do it, and it’s kind of incredible. Also as a Japanese-American it’s cool to see someone so great at something be Japanese.
I agreed to 3 walks… they will not come back after the lost last night period… it took all the air out of you for a long while … way after this series is over 😞… emotional devastation for the jays forever
Thats wrong comparison. There is no one like Ohtani in NFL. Imagine a player who does WR Justin Jefferson and Micah Parsons in defence work in a single game
Ohtani is adding to his goat resume if he comes out pitching gas. People don’t forget these postseason moments
They do need to limit the intentional walk for sure because that’s not right for the fans pay to watch a star player to put on a show. It’s like how they did with the hack a Shaq foul thing before the 2:00 minute left on the clock. It should be limited to (3) walks and afterwards they have to pitch to him
Career BA. 282, HR 280, R 708, RBI 669 is not GOAT hitting. Career 39-20 W-L pitching is not GOAT pitching.
Lmao he's WAY better than Woods, he's not even the best golfer ever, that's Jack Nicklaus, besides golf isn't a sport, you're competing with yourself to see who gets the best scores, in sports you're competing directly with someone else
Don’t stop the intentional walk
The league should at LEAST limit walks in playoffs and series. Its a little bit cheating just walking the best hitters in every team when they dont even get a chance to hit and win for the team. I doubt the game wouldve gone past 12 if ohtani didnt get walked
We appreciate the comparisons. Tom Brady was good. But it would be like being a great quarterback and also being the full time running back.
Yes hitters should not be penalized and barred from hitting just because they are good.
Fire the punter.
Heard someone describe Ohtani like “imagine if Tom Brady also led the league in sacks”
Yes, it's so thrilling watching Ohtani hit juiced balls.
I KEEP hearing "how good Ohtani is" for the sport of baseball. There SHOULD Be a Limit on Intentional Walks in MLB. Make it a rule 2 or more walks cost the teams 1 score run for each added walk. Teams will see that its better for Ohtani to swing a "maybe miss" than to automatic give his team a scoring run
embarassing to compare anybody to Ohtani as if he is "like" somebody else. while Babe Ruth did pitch and bat in the same game occasionally it was nothing on the level of Ohtani. there is nobody to compare to him from any sport except MAYBE Bo Jackson or somebody like that but even that's not close IMO.
i think 3 intentional walks is still too much because after 18 innings, with 3 intentional walks allowed, we would have only gotten to see him bat ONE more time thatn he did. and that was after 18 innings. honestly i don't know what you can do to the rules. at least make them pitch the balls rather than raise 4 fingers.
I have a good idea. If you intentionally walk a batter or you pitch to a batter and gets ball 4 and 0 strikes, next batter starts with count 2-0. And this rule applies to every other batters.
Shohei is MJ, Shohei is Gretzkey, Shohei is Messi, Shohei is Tom Brady….Ohtani is ALREADY THERE!
STOP THE OVERHYPE
jinx
Ohtani's more like LeBron…A joke until he decided to join a super team. Difference is Lebron gets hate for it and Shoehei gets love. To me, GOAT discussion is out the window.
