KA’ANAPALI, Maui – Sophomore Tavin Boman and junior Liam Judkins each finished round two under par, and the CSUN Men’s Golf team fired a 6-under 278 on Tuesday at the Ka’anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER at Royal Ka’anapali Golf Course.

After opening the tournament on Monday with a 7-over 291, the Matadors shaved 13 shots on Tuesday to move into 18th place at 1-over 569.

Boman, who opened with a 6-over 77 on Monday, had a pair of eagles and four birdies in a 6-under 65 on Tuesday. He sat at 1-under through his first 10 holes before closing the round with two eagles, one birdie, and five pars to complete a 6-under 65. Boman is one of 12 players tied for 74th at even-par 142. Judkins, also tied for 74th, had one eagle and four birdies in round two to finish at 4-under 67.

Following Boman and Judkins, Bryson Barnes made it three Matadors in a tie for 74th (E, 142) after a 3-over 74 in round two. Barnes, who led CSUN after an opening round 3-under 68, had four birdies on Tuesday but also had three bogeys and a pair of double bogeys.
Nick Fry matched his day one total with four birdies, but had five bogeys and one double bogey in a round of 3-over 74, which dropped him into a tie for 100th at 4-over 146.
Ethan Posthumus had four birdies and nine pars in round two to finish at 1-over 72 to move into a tie for 106th at 6-over 148.
Domenic De Luca, competing as an individual, had three birdies and 14 pars in the second round to finish the day at 2-under 69. After a 1-under 70 in round one, De Luca is currently tied for 48th at 3-under 139.

HEAD COACH JIM BRACKEN SAID

“Tavin and Liam both played very well today. Obviously, I’d like to finish the tournament on a positive note and finish under par. We’re still trying to figure things out and limit our mental mistakes. Every round we play, we need at least one guy under par, and we’re just not getting that consistently.”

CSUN will be paired with UC Irvine and Wyoming for Tuesday’s second round, which gets underway at 11:30 a.m. local time.
