I’ve always had quite the over the top swing, but it’s what’s worked for me pretty well. What I’m really struggling with is getting my hips ahead of my club head to really compress the ball.
Anyone have a suggestion or good drills to help me with this?

You aren’t doing anything to push off of your back leg. You are basically throwing your arms at the ball from the top. You should look up medicine ball golf swing drills. Will also help you add a lot more distance. Hope this helps!
Look for the Ben Hogan drill where he makes a backswing and keeps the hands at the top while transferring his weight from back to front and rotating the hips towards the target. The hands drop down on their own as the hips turn. It’s a lower body only move that helps you start the downswing.
