POWELL’S POINT, N.C.—William & Mary men’s golf, and Eli Felty, ended the fall portion of the season with a bang on Monday and Tuesday, sweeping both the team and individual champion honors at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate in Powell’s Point, N.C.
The Tribe toppled the 16-team field by seven shots in the event that consisted of 27 holes Sunday and 27 on Monday at Kilmarlic Golf Club, shooting scores of 294-279-279 for an even-par total. Georgetown finished second at 7-over.
The victory is the program’s first since winning The Invitational at Savannah Harbor back in February of 2018.
Felty was a model of consistency on his trip to the winner’s circle individually, getting around the par-71 track with scores of 71-69-69 for a 4-under total and a one-shot win.
The freshman led the 82-player field in pars for the event with 43 to go along with eight birdies. Both his second and third rounds consisted of three birdies and one bogey to get comfortably in red figures and secure the win.
Felty became the first Tribe player to win individually since Matthew Feinstein set the program’s 54-hole record on his way to the win at the VCU Shootout in 2023.
Preston Burton closed strong for the Tribe as well, finishing three shots behind Felty in a tie for third at 1-under. His 12 birdies were the fourth most in the field.
