Last year I reviewed this putter and I was blown away by the technology. Quite simply, it’s called the spoiler putter and the face almost rides upwards. It’s zero lofted and the top of the head is actually further forward than the bottom of the head. I did think it was a gimmick at the time. However, when I reviewed it, I was blown away by the performance. The roll was fantastic. Now, at the time when they sent this, quite a basic grip, basic shaft. Almost from this point upwards, it looks like a real budget club and almost not a prototype, but certainly a first iteration. Well, now they have brought this out. This is the spoiler putter, but it’s in blade format. And wow, have they upped their game. It’s still an unusual looking club, but if it works, this could be a real game changer. So, so good. So, look at this. I mean, honestly, it looks so good. I love this kind of blacked out finish. This is called the spoiler riv. Not quite sure where that name’s coming from, but does look very good. Suppose the original model, the mallet putter, might have been a bit more off-putting. Um, this is such an unusual shape. Like, you could look at it and go, which way do I even hit this? Like, is this a is this a left-handed putter I’m hitting on this side? Is it a right-handed putter? It’s very confusing. However, this technology here on the front is supposed to get the ball rolling quicker, minimize skid, and I’ll be honest again, when I reviewed the original one, I couldn’t believe how nice it rolled. Like, in fact, at the end of that video, I said I’m going to invest. I didn’t. I should have done. Um, this now again looks much more premium. Thicker grip, black shaft. I love the red alignment line in contrast to that black headed finish. Looks really, really nice. Price-wise, it’s £232. Bit of an odd price. I’m not sure if that’s a conversion. That’s the price online if you were buying from the UK. Oh, that is that is so so good. So, so good. I wonder very intrigued to know if any kind of the big dogs in the putting industry are going to pick up on this technology. It’s USGA approved. You can use this in tournament play. Um it just it bit offputting when you put it behind the ball, but the way it makes that ball roll early in its stroke in its journey is second to none. It is so so nice. Just like I didn’t hit that one hard enough. just like you can you I can feel it in that first two or three feet. It’s not skipping, it’s not jumping, it’s just straight off rolling off the putter head. And they’ve actually made these grooves a little bit deeper this time as well to even improve that friction and get it rolling even more. It’s visibly it’s hardly even you can’t even see it, but they have got a little bit deeper. Specwise, 70° line angle, 0° loft, it’s toe hang by 60°, so you can see that little bit of toe hanging there. fit options. It’s 34 in or 35 in depending on how long you want it. It’s not loads and loads of fitting options, but I say it’s more that kind of face technology. I set a few more puts. Super easy to line up. I really like that red line on the back. Oh, don’t pull it. Listen, it’s not always going to get the aim right. That’s still down to the player. Like if I pull it or push it, are still down on me. But I reckon speed control this will be so good once you got dialed in with it because you just know it’s going to roll off the face so nicely. I actually think personally you don’t have to hit it as hard to get it to the hole. So nice. Just I mean that is absolutely perfect. That is perfect. End over end as they say. And it’s actually a very soft feel as well. Like it feels soft off the face. I there’s so many positives which is is a great sign. I think the biggest negative this putter is actually getting people to try it. Like you look at these days now putters have always had this beauty of being able to be a little bit different. Like you can see unique putters. Look at the success labs had recently like it’s an ugly looking putter. certainly the first iteration and over time people went, “Well, I like the I like the performance.” I think that’s what this could do. Like people aren’t going to look at this putter and go, “Oh, yeah. I love the look of that.” Maybe they will, but it’s the fact it produces such good roll, such good performance, it could just catch on. Okay. Famous ladder drill. No putter has ever completed all the way back. Starting from 3 ft, you miss, it’s done. Can the spoiler riv set a new record? I’m hopeful. First three done pretty easily. Back to 60 ft. Okay. 10 ft double digits. No. Oh no. It went it was going so unbelievably well to that point. Like it was on the line perfectly. That was a horrendous put. The roll was nice at least. Oh, it’s the only thing. May maybe the mallet one might be that little bit more forgiving. Overall, oh, first off, I’m disappointed. I actually honestly thought there was a chance to complete the whole ladder today. I think the lab might still have the best result. It missed the last one. Um, very impressed. Very impressed. Is it going to catch on? I don’t know. It’s got a chance, but I feel like it’s it’s very very different. I think people have to experience it to really see it. But do you have to almost be dialed into how a putter ro like how a ball rolls off a putter? Like I’ve tested products for 13 years. I know in that first 5% of a put it skids a bit. It that’s why putters have loft to almost get it the ball out of the indentation of the ground to pop it up so that when the ball starts rolling it has a chance. This doesn’t need that zero degrees of loft and it rolls almost instantly. It feels like the ball is glued to the surface as it rolls. It’s very impressive, guys. Thanks for watching. Stay tuned. Lots more to come. That was my review of the Hit. That’s not my review of the Hit. It’s my review on hit of the new spoiler riv putter. If you get a chance, give it a go cuz I think they’re very impressive.

  1. These are abysmal at long putts. A friend of mine plays the Spoiler and every putt from 30+ feet bounces like crazy unless struck absolutely perfectly, so distance control is a huge issue with these.

  2. I think putter technology is overrated and priced. A good putter can use any putter and make putts. Brad Faxon still uses his old blade putter…it looks like what you get at a miniature golf course.

  3. There was a company here in the states that had a similar putter on the market in 2000 or 2001. They marketed the technology as “roll faced” and it was a pretty good product. Maybe this one is the new and improved version.

  4. Here is my issue with all these YouTubers reviewing free clubs. None of them ever make it into their bags. Whats that tell you…

  5. That's a GREAT 👍 Putter..love every video you are doing and your great putter. However as a +4 ex pro please work on the wedges mate.
    Mip is 50% leg movement.
    All the best Rick

  6. Make an experimental bag with this and the Vega SS irons to see how well you shoot over 18 holes.

  7. It has to be the knapp of the material causing the ball to veer that much. Expensive piece of crap has made a lot of putters look bad over the last many months. Rick has proven on the course in many videos that he can putt.

  8. When you stop and think about it for a few seconds a rounded face will always give you the same contact no matter how the face arrives at the ball. so it's going to be consistent
I made my own putter a couple of years ago and thought about a rounded face ( As I don't have a milling machine) but as I have a mate with a milling machine I ended up with a milled face. Wish I'd gone with a rounded face now.

  9. Rick in your opinion, is this putter incredible value at £243 that's half the price of some of the new LAB putters etc? LOVE THE CHANNEL MATE 🎉

  10. again throw it in the bag and play a round with your new favor clubs from driver to putter! that putter, then the new wedges and irons you just reviewed and the new driver you last reviewed that you really loved how straight it flew.

  11. Rick….why do you keep trashing so called budget clubs?……not very many people get expensive clubs sent to them to review or try….come over to the real world…ty for showing us .

  12. This idea isn’t new…..I have a similar putter from more than twenty years ago….its not the putter…it’s the user..

  13. If you putt from off the green there is a issue because you can Miss hit putts. You better be a great chipper if you buy it. I do own one and that is my issue. For putting on green is great.

  14. Had an old Teardrop putter with a rounded face from the 90's used it for 20 years. only thing i didnt like is that it was too light.
