  1. Yes this is awful. Seemed like such a nice / genuine guy that just loved the game. Obviously his health was a concern, but still a very sad and sudden loss.

  2. Dry_Affect69

RIP. That’s terrible news as he seemed like a great guy. Look after your health fellas!

  3. 29 is so young. Such a likable guy. Rip, Beef.

  4. spoodermaaaan

Damn, been following him since he was just a club pro posting golf tips. Was stoked when he got picked up by barstool.

  5. Potatoguard

Great guy, extremely bummed to see this. Please take care of your health guys.

  6. BadgerII

Hopefully this is a wake up call for fat Perez

  7. ThrowAwayBudGuy

Nothing but great things have been said about Cody. RIP

  8. BullHawk1890

RIP. I always loved his videos. He seemed like a genuine guy.

Hopefully, this type of thing is a wake up call for others, especially young guys, who may be overweight. Make good decisions for your health that you can control, it’s never too late.

  9. OG_Fakir

Never heard anything but good about the big guy. Good thoughts go out to the Foreplay guys – this really sucks. RIP.

  10. hmstanley

that’s really really sad man.. he seemed like a good soul..

  11. HammeredWookiee

Damn, I did not expect to see this today*. As a bigger guy myself beef showed me that golf is for anyone. But there is definitely such thing as too big. A lot of the comments I would see about beef in later videos were people begging him to lose weight. RIP Beef

  12. GBwineguy

Cody was my golf pro before he went to barstool. Such a terrible loss. RIP my friend.

  13. davidz70

Got to talk to him a few times when he was the pro at Thornberry Creek. Great guy, very sad news.

  14. AdmirableGear6991

That’s rough. Hopefully his family can find some solace.

  15. PlaysWithSqurls

Do people actually know what happened? Or are they just assuming things?

  16. TotallyNotDad

RIP, every time I saw this guy in any sort of content the comments would be saying he needs to lose some weight, guess I’m not shocked but still tragic nonetheless

  17. tinyfred

I know it clearly isn’t Barstool’s fault, but when they hired this guy as their next “fat guy plays golf”, I made the comment that it’s sad our generation is glorifying morbidly obese people and using them as baffoons and entertainment. Take care of yourselves guys.

  18. recalculatingalways

RIP wow I didn’t realize how young he was. That’s so sad

  19. Particular-Ad9304

He did the training videos at one of the courses I used to work at. Genuinely seemed like such a good guy with a good heart based off the videos I’ve seen. RIP brother. Make every good decision you can when it comes to your health boys

  20. SwugSteve

RIP Beef. Shit sucks. Seemed like a really genuine guy

  21. GMPnerd213

Man what a loss of a genuinely likeable guy who’s content was fun to watch.

  22. fucuntwat

I thought this was about Andrew “Beef” Johnston for a minute

  23. Holy shit I can’t believe that happened. RIP dude

  24. LeafBird

Woah, don’t know the guy besides instagram, but he seemed like an amazing fellow…

Sad to not see any more new videos

  25. NewJerseyCPA

So sad to hear that. Tomorrow is never promised.

  26. Longjumping_Field835

Always sad to one go away forever

  27. Boyota4Bummer

Oh nooooo. Noo Noo Noo. Damnit 😢😢😢😢. He was such a great dude. This is heartbreaking. Anybody have any inkling? Was it related to his health? RIP Cody, you were such a genuine person 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

  28. That guy being my age is really throwing me off. RIP! from all accounts he was a respectful person. I hope Barstool tried to get him healthy

  29. Apart_Tutor8680

Incredible to be that decent at golf at that size. Shocking news

  30. VeryPurpleRain

Your health is more important than your hobbies, your passions, your other goals, everything. This is proof that no matter how good you are with a skill, you should focus on your health more than the skill you work. Sad to see another nice guy due because of being morbidly obese, but it was also 100% in his control and he chose to die this way by eating and drinking too many calories.

  31. CanadaEh97

The videos I saw him in he was a great dude, he’ll be missed.

I’m also going to say this as a big dude who lost 100lbs and working to lose a bit more. Please start now, it’s not an overnight thing, it takes time and some changes but it’s not impossible to do. It will only better your life, your relationship with your family especially kids and it will make golf easier.

Sometimes people wait for a wakeup call but sometimes you don’t even get 1 wake up call, it’s one events and that’s it.

  32. kid_at_the_gym

Food is a drug just as much as anything else out there. Take that shit seriously it’s not worth going out like this.

  33. Quantum_Otter369

RIP Cody. He coached me up last season, was a really nice guy and I always walked away from our interactions feeling good.

  34. MonkIntelligent5973

I just met him a few weeks back at the Ryder Cup. Was very kind RIP

  35. Tomatoes65

Rest in peace, Cody. I haven’t watched much of his barstool content, but his videos pre barstool were awesome and he seemed like such a genuine dude. It’s a shame that such a good soul is gone so young.

This is a reminder to take your health seriously. 31 is young, so don’t ignore your health because you’re “young.

I’m glad to see guys like Fat Perez take his health more serious as of late and lose all the weight he has. Hopefully this news further motivates Fat Perez to continue on his weight loss journey, or anyone else currently going through the same thing.

  36. FatFaceFaster

Really really sad. I think most people watched him because he just seemed like such a good dude. Just a kind and genuine human being. That’s what made me watch him anyway and I’d fight anyone in the comments who made jokes about his weight cause show me one human being who doesn’t struggle with demons of their own and I’ll show you a liar.

Predictably the comment threads on this news are disgusting and make me even sadder for his family who is likely reading them.

He brought joy to people and that’s all that matters.

  37. Proof-Discount4455

all the replies under his posts were always filled with horrible things people were saying. i hope those people feel terrible now

  38. Wow that sucks. On a lot of his videos you’d see fights in the comments with people denigrating him for his weight and telling him to get help, which was obviously rude and not actually helpful. But damn, that is just way too young to go.

  39. LuxePhantom

Man that is horrible. Prayers for his friends and family.

  40. iowaguy31

Really enjoyed his presence in the content, especially when compared to so many other Barstool personalities. Too young. RIP Beef.
