when he was playing the corn ferry in the PGA tour. He’s really gotten proficient at pitching the golf ball. And Cookie just about I know you’ve watched seems to be in control. Yeah, I know you’ve watched him play a lot of golf. You’ve seen this before this act, haven’t you? No question about every green in regulation. That shot went right by the flag. Been real solid from this distance today. You know, we focused in on Justin Leonard’s face last week and how steady like his he’s just expressionless. Taking a break from calling the Gators to playing a little golf. That was priceless. He’s right on the bubble. That’ll help. Projected 31 to start the week now outside that important number. All these shots matter for Boo Weekly. And you see right there on that number of course just behind the hole Podrick here 142 yardds just a little pitching wedge here for Podrick. See if he can get it in that back little nook and he does. Really nice shot. Yeah, one of the best of his day. One of the best approaches of the day here at 12. Disappointing par at 10. Disappointing par at 11, but Mie’s a tough 12, that’s for sure. Maybe Stephen Alker with one more club after seeing Padres’s come up short right at whole high. We talked about it. Stephen Alker’s middle name is Hole High. Yeah. [Applause] You know, listening to Greg and and what he was saying about how he feels coming down the stretch. I remember when uh I was on the President’s Cup teams when Nicholas was the captain and he told us a lot a lot of different stories, but he always said a lot of people feel when they’re coming down the last four or five holes that they got to do something a little more special to win. Shot’s very doable. Boy, that sounded good. It’s on a nice line, baby. Come on and dance with me. Well, the ears don’t lie. Now to get to seven under. Yeah, this putt does have a little bit of right to left in it. Boy, where else confident? Where else was that going? Dead center. I’m ready for the answer. 181 here from Thomas Bejorn. What is the answer? All right, we we we have six quarterbacks in NFL history to beat every team. Tom Brady, Drew Brees. How about this one from Bjorn? Beautiful. Oh, yeah. By the way, nice shot, but six. Yeah, we got we got Brady Breeze. Yeah, he’s not much to this. Maybe just inside the right with just dripping speed. Buckets. There’s two. Oh, Cookie with his take from all the money. All the money he’s got. Why Why would he go anywhere else? That’s from 177 for Steven Alker. Watch this. Look at this guy go. See, it got to get to eight under. I mean, that is so good. Most of us just do a little softy finessy looking But that full intent. Well, I thought this hole was supposed to be hard. What a shot. Called it. This to close with five straight. Yes, sir. That’s a little early step [Music] for Jimenez. You got that big lead to start the playoff. Struggled last week, struggling today. [Music] That’ll help. It sure will. It needs to turn it around. You’re right. Last year here at Pleasant Valley, Michael Allen shot 60. Minev needed it and got it. Beautiful birdie trying to hunt down this Charles Schwab Cup. Speaking of players trying to hunt it down. Sink. There we go. Long one for birdie. He’s not shy. That gets him to five under. This would extend the lead to three. Got a nice preview from Podrick Harrington. I mean, of course, it’s a simple game. Look at that scorecard. What a run. I tell you what, I wouldn’t be following this group if I was him. I’d be losing confidence. You watching this guy play. You want to go up against it? I would be walking away. Look at this. On a good line. What a special day here for Steven Aler. Yeah, talking about birdies at 18. He’s going to aler to get to 10 under on the day. Yeah, seven feet here. Not much to it. I mean, Cookie, they’re going dead center. [Applause] Claw’s way back to even today’s Tracer Technology presented by Optum. [Music] Let’s get chewed up the hill. Zang. Yeah, that’s a good shot. Ernie might be having a little bit of a hangover from last week. Gave it. He could have walked that one in. That was in the whole way. Opportunity. Get it back to level if you can birdie 18 after that tough start. Oh yeah. Finally a putt goes in. Let it run. Sure. Cookie knew pretty creative. Could be a wild way to finish. Plugged on the lip. Not even sure. Should drip a little to the right. I mean, no questions at all. Aler made everything on this back nine. birdies 13 14 15 16 a beautiful putt at 17 and that unlikely up and in zing at 18. Well, good afternoon guys. Good to be out here. A little cloudy. Looked like it might rain. And Steve Al with a one birdie on his card and this is slick moving from left to right. And how about it? Beautiful birdie. Really getting better at controlling wedges. talked to him this past winter and he really needed to control spin on his wedges and take, you know, take a little bit off speed and he just hitting shots like that left and right. Went out there shortly after that. Sure could. I mean, it’s relentless. John Cook, I mean, this is just right in the middle every putt it feels like. You know, for Steuart Singh and Paul, you mentioned the the green complexes here. I mean, Stuart Sink said yesterday, “It’s a pleasure to play on greens like this. They’re some of the best I’ve ever seen on any tour is what Stuart Sink said.” Well, you got to go back to uh old Joe Finger. Zing, you didn’t love this look. Sink left himself. No, but didn’t bother Stewart much. Not at all. Good birdie. Just so fast, you know? You just uh you have to be in such tremendous go in there pretty low with like one little skip in a run out something like that. You know you could easily leave yourself 20footers 16 15 that’s for sure. It’s just a simple game right now for Alker. That’s his 15th birdie in 26 holes. This is real. Go to 12. First look here. Thomas Bujorn. Well, it was really fun having Fred Funk in here yesterday. And he had a blast by the way, just so you know. But he talked about Thomas Bjorn of all people and how great his stroke looked to him. So it’s a trophy, not the axe. I thought it was the Paul Bunan axe. Well, I think that’s I think that’s another Seriously, that’s like might be Minnesota in that one. Well, yeah. Easily confused probably through the years. Who knew Paul Bunion had so much stuff? I know. Good putt there from Justin Leonard. And they love this event. Show up in good weather and bad. They do not care. And Zing, you’ve been keeping an eye on the Doppler. All I know is here they show up in black pants or shorts. That’s what they’re doing. Oh, roll it in the center, my man. I think that could be a business venture for you in the futures lane. Maybe get into some crazy old school looks like those old sweaters you used to wear. Yep. Over to 13, the par three. Freddy Yakobson. Oh, he’s throwing flames. I always, you know, I’m expecting a lot out of him. He’s just now starting to get used to being in contention some out here. He hits it nice. Go up to 13. Yakobson after that beautiful T- shot. Good night, Freddy. That’s a way to get it in there. You would hate to have missed that one. There wouldn’t have been any smiling going on. I know that. I think once again, Max Loopin. Big smile from the youngster. Now, Ridings, how about this? Had to go over the should Yeah, over the shoulder of the bunker. Threw it way up in the air. And it’s pretty well done. That wasn’t that easy of a shot. this to pick up one. It’s good birdie. Creative pitch shot. [Applause] Impressive stuff from the final three. We’ll go to 16. Leonard see if he can bounce right back after the bogey at 15. Shurikan pours it right in. Excellent birdie. We know nothing. Go back to 16. Nine iron for Steven Alker from 140. Slightly right of the hole. And that’s really nice shot. I didn’t love it John Cook but that turns out great. Get ready. Paul talked about threshold. This could break right through the threshold right here. No. Oh, good call there, Cookie. I’ll tell you what, that almost missed the center here at 18. We’ll go up to the green. Have not seen an Eagle at 18 today. [Applause] Oh, and that was on the tracks headed to the station. Sure was. Good try, Paul. When it’s raining and it’s wet and you’re cold, there’s no feeling like tapping in on 18 and being done for the day. [Applause] Beautiful divot. My goodness, Justin. Another good shot. Yeah, kind of a back and forth stretch. Yep. Hold it right there. Hold it. Hold hold. No, that’ll go down. That’ll continue to trickle away. Well, that wasn’t because of backspin. That was grab. No, he just missed his spot. Yeah, he just missed his spot by a couple feet. Yeah, I’ll say it again today. The degrees and inches we usually think. It’ll go up that bridge, kind of kick it to the right, then back to the left at the end. Oh. Oh my. The unlikely of birdies. Exclamation mark. Look at that face there. That is as much determination as you see out of Aler ever. This is a sixiron here for tag going a little left. Oh, clears the bunker though. Catch that slope. Oh, here we go. Go. This could get real close. So important to get it hole high. He flushed it. But you know, he’s hitting a sixiron. Alter’s hitting four iron. A big advant made par, but this would jump start his round. It did yesterday. He made two here yesterday and two again today. Important putt. Get his Sunday going. That keeps go to KJ Choy third at this par five. Sounded pretty solid. Boy, did it ever. What a sound. You know, you get that kind of turf that’s allowing that sound. Go back over to the seventh 149 here for Justin Leonard coming off that three putt bogey back at the six. Right over top of the flag stick. He was staring it down. Justin’s swinging really good at it again this week. Really good. He’s Look at he’s getting closer and closer. He won last week. Kind of just being patient, but I feel like now still rolling. Zing. I know that patience is no longer, you know, now it’s kind of you want to have that sense of urgency if you’re Justin Leonard. That patience Justin Leonard. This is such a good camera angle to watch. That’s so pure. Nice little bounce back there for Justin. Going in low, but that’s got to go. One skip. Yeah, got up there a little better than I thought. Yeah, he probably just caught it a little toe side. Beautiful little technique there. Punch the gut. Perfect roll. Take that. With that, a reminder that at 4:30 p.m. Eastern, we’re going to flip over our coverage to CNBC tour headed to Golf Channel. So, we’ll conclude this event over there for those just kind of keeping up on That was a little crazy what went on there. What What time What time do you think you went to bed Sunday in ’08? Oh gosh, the wee hours. I stayed up way too late, but I missed a lot of great activity after the fact and we just missed how awesome that shot was. Tag Ridings hit birdie here at 10. Cookie probably knows of course to have Kite on there. Cook of course is, you know, it’s big time when you can come out in double digit wins anywhere. You know, there’s only nine guys on the PGA Tour. Yeah, it is. Let’s go to Percy at 11. Perfect temperatures out here. Just look at the smoothness of the greens. Come on now. Come on now. Look at this guy. He’s just been all over the place. He’s birdie chances everywhere. Alco now from the same number 135 taking a little bit off of a nine iron. I like this play and love that shot. Just about back to back. [Music] One way to start the back nine. Hole out. A near hole out. Missed by one. It’s like almost like missing by one shot. Leonard now on the way. Yeah. 167 proper. Doesn’t really have to worry about speed. Goes uphill slightly. Yeah, you knew he wasn’t going to sit on the couch that long with the putter. No. Winner last week. He’s trying to get He’s trying to run down Tag Ridings. Tag Ridings knows he’s got a bully behind him like trying to have to be able to control spin here. Might fall out of the sky or might fly on him. Oh no, not another one right at it. He said be the number and it is another good shot, John. Not like the last two where he hold it and hit it a foot, but pretty special. You watch golf played at its highest level. I don’t care what tour you’re on or who you are. Come on now. Come on now. Nobody going to beat him this week. Just another one. And Paul, you said he might do it. Gives him 109 over the bunker. Sends it way up in the air. Yeah. Nice shot. Yeah, [Applause] great yardage for a tour player. Probably some kind of gap wedge or just full crush with his 56 degree. Anybody right now, these guys are they just love the competition. Tag a real opportunity. How about that? Snuck in the right side. He understands the importance of second here. Oh, tell me these guys. This is the fun part. You know, when you get a blowout, we can admire everything Aler’s achieving this week. It’s mentioned Richard Green kind of floating around. That’s for Birdie at 16. This to get to 12 under made a whole bunch of putts today. That’ll continue. Richard Greens of this Sunday. That’s a good birdie with that hole cut. Just a moment ago, you heard that roar. Cameron Percy. One birdie at 17 for the day. I’m gonna call a second. Paul Azinger had a bunch of long ones. Oh, hello. That’s weird. He missed a couple mediums. That’s a jumpy on the inside and feeling calm looking on the outside on these putts. Got to control the jumpy stuff on the inside. Looks really good. How about this? How about this putt? Give the fans something to take home. Tag writings with a big birdie at 17. That’s fun. And he’s loving it. We’ll go to 18 with Richard Green. This to finish at 13 under. A big putt here. And that a 66 for Green. He’s going to be so proud of that putt. [Music] and Steven Aler dominating in Little Rock. He did it all. The pressure was on him from the get-go after shooting a 61. You know, he shot 62 last year and let this tournament get away. He shot 61. And there’s a precious hug. He jumped on the field again this week and all the pressure was on him. And now look how relaxed and happy he is. That is a happy bunch.
