Bank of Utah Championship 2025, Round 4 | PGA Tour Highlights | Golf Channel

The Black Desert Resort truly a modern marvel of golf course architecture and engineering. They’ve had a busy year hosting professional golf. LPGA Tour came here back in May. And now for the sec second straight year, the PGA Tour comes to town. This is the first course to host both the LPGA Tour and the PGA Tour in the same year in more than a decade. It can certainly be a life-changing Sunday for 23-year-old Michael Brennan who’s trying to close out his first win on the PGA Tour in just his third start. George Zarik is Johnson Wagner. Brennan the 54 hole leader and keeping it going on the third. Coming off a birdie on two, which he’d made two doubles on previously, eight under through his last 12 holes yesterday, and he picked up right where he left off. Couple holes later, still rolling it. Just mind blown by the way he drives it, by the way he chips it, by the way he putts it. His entire game is so solid right now. Brennan to 20 under par. Rico Hoey among the chasers trying to at least stay within shouting distance. Same hole at five. Had a great day on the greens yesterday and he’s going to need to make all of these if he’s going to be able to chase down Brennan. Rico Hoey would tack on another one, but that didn’t close the gap at all as he just gave one back on the eighth. Birdie seven, bogei the eighth. He and Ben Silverman T2 at 16 under par. Michael Brennan four under on the round. He’s playing the par five ninth. A five shot lead. David Thor Ford and Thorbjorn Olison at 15 under par. They are six back. Ball just below his feet here. Absolutely perfect playing conditions once again just like yesterday. Not a breath of wind right now. Go. Oh, this is an aggressive shot. If it’s enough, this could be really good. Oh, and it is. That had shades of Tiger Woods Canadian open 2000 on 18 to that back right flag. He certainly wasn’t trying to hit it there, but he’s happy now. That ball came in so high and soft. Now it’s downhill. Going to move from his left to right. Played for it to break right. Didn’t move much. Yeah. But gave it a nice chance. And really impressed with his putting stroke as well. As we watch throughout the day, his palms really face each other. His left hand’s just slightly lower. And what that does is it really gives uh your shoulders can be much more square. A lot of times traditional grip your right shoulder can dip low and mechanics are just beautiful. Michael Brennan blowing everyone out. Now he’s just one shot behind where their tournament scoring record was last year. 23 under by Matt Mccardi using that back stop just a little bit. That’s a good spot to be just short of that hole location. It feeds back towards the front. So that’s going to be a much easier putt being on the correct level on the 11th. A lot to navigate here for Justin Law’s birdie putt. I mean this is like a mini golf putt. It’s going left to right, right to left, up and down. Be good to get this within four feet. Just get it going and see what happens. Rolling out nicely. Oh, wow. Lower making it happen. Reminds me of a little bit of the putt he made on seven for Eagle on Friday. He’s had a couple long ones gone in from the fringe. Take another look. Mel described it perfectly. Going left to right and downhill here. Then it goes slightly up there. Then back downhill, then back uphill, and now the last part of this putt, straight downhill, breaking back from right to left. Looked like birdie the whole way. Of course, this hole, which had been so stingy on yielding birdies, that’s how we see birdie number two. Silverman out of the bunker. Scale of 1 to 10 of difficulties is about an eight. Taking that slope out of play. Just not you can’t. It’s just so hard to get enough spin to stop that anywhere close to the hole. That was well done. Have a good chance to save par from the down or uphill putt. Pretty level line. Just slightly back on the up slope. Coming in really high. Pretty good line here. Oh, great line. Chance for a potential twoshot swing. This could start to make things interesting at the Bank of Utah Championship. Hi, Mom. Brennan’s scrambling. That’s pretty well done. He was coming off a slight down slope, which I actually think was a bit of an advantage cuz it wasn’t into the grain like we’ve seen so many others, but first sign of stress today. Well, this is the putt that might have a little bit of turn to the left, but it’s back uphill. So he can be aggressive with this putt, not being concerned about running it past to stay at 22. Well, that’s just his second second bogey of the week. He’s made two doubles and now two bogeies. He’s been really good at avoiding it, but what he’s done when he’s made them, he’s bounced back tremendously, but now he’s coming up to this really difficult stretch of the golf course. And we’ll see if any tension is going to come into that swing. And now now Hoe’s going to have a chance. Hoey to shave the margin to just three. Well, he learned a lot from that putt from Brennan. That actually ball went back to the right. Hoey buries it. Game on with eight to go. Kevin Uole high. This for Birdie. Well done. Back with the final group on the 12th. And Rico Hoey. Now it’s 150 yards. Wind’s starting to switch a little bit here. Kind of back into his face. Another aggressive shot. Trying to use that back stop. All right. Quality play, but I mean from 150 yards, that’s about all you can expect. You don’t want to come up too far short. That’s the lie for Brennan on the 12th. Yeah, I think it’s a very fortunate lie going with the grain in the grass and the rough. He’s got plenty of cushion. I think this makes this shot much easier. Oh, going with a little bumper. That is just absolutely gorgeous. Got to get a little love to a name there in T5th. Brandt Snedeker 6663 on the weekend. This is the range he’s been solid on this week, especially yesterday. Made a number of putts from this range. Howie for birdie [Applause] 19 under for the moment. Two back of Brennan. Rico Hoe’s putt in my opinion was almost a mustake situation with Brennan being here close. What a response. Kevin, you back one on the 13th. Really good spot to putt from here at the 13th. So hard to get it on the right level. Much closer than this. you up to 16 under tied for third. It’s made birdie here all three days. Flies it on. Trying to use maybe that should this actually possibly could come back on the putting surface coming off that slope off the edge of the green. And it does. Still inching closer. Pretty well done. That was right in the heart. I know he would like to have that to trickled down another foot or so. He’s definitely going to be putting a coin on this one, but it’s a nice effort. just solid as a rock. Short range. All the short putts we’ve seen him hit this week, they’re not lipping in. They’re going right in the dead center. Max, two big hits. He’s on the 18th and two to Eagle. The last meaningful putt for Max. No kidding. Moves him all the way up to 15 under. Tied sixth. Got to keep the club moving here though. I really like the way he just stuck the club into the ground there. Helps it get a little bit more height. It’s about the best we’ve seen anybody from over the green. Hoey to stay at 19 under. Michael Brandle will get a great read from the putt here from Rico Hoey. What an up and down from that position over the green here at 15 for Rico. Another balance swing. Another good shot. Matt Mccardi already won the trophy here a year ago. Really impressive comeback for him today after getting three over par early on his card. Back with the leader on the 16th. Will it get there? All right, the jaws. We can give him a pass on that one. Five shot lead. Still pretty nice. He did miss the fairway on 10 with his club into the left bunker. I think he’d be fine if he hit it into the left bunker with this one right now. Brennan stripes it. Hey, what up? You got to get the CGA, bro. I mean, the the commitment to stand up there and make that swing. Hold that follow through straight to the tea. He is feeling everything with his golf swing right now. Pretty much hop on up to the green. Third shot for Pearson Cudy. Up and down to get to 16 in that tie for third. Really nice touch. Almost up and in. Only danger is that lava down the lefth hand side. And this one headed left. Uh-oh. Not what he wanted to see with a second. No, it found that little lava pit. There is grass behind it. If he has to take an unplayable, he’s going to be able to go behind that lava. Leave himself a bit of an awkward flop shot. But this is when a five shot lead is nice. probably going to drop right there by the stairs and then take relief from the temporary immovable obstruction. Yeah, B’s right there on the call as you said. Uh depends on where he wants to drop it, but I think he will probably drop it then. All right, Jeff, more than likely get relief from the stairway up to the grand stands over here on the left hand side. Fourth shot to the par five. Oh yeah. So good. Wow. So good. fall off on the other side, but he played it out to the left. That was beautifully done. That’s exactly what he needed to do. Now, now he can take that breath because he’s pitching over the bunker, pitching over the same lava pit. I mean, anything in this situation, you can’t even feel your hands. So, anything could have happened right there. That was an excellent shot, Billy Ray. Par putt for Brennan. Let’s see if the kid can close it out in style. Michael Brennan will put down the coin that left for bogey and a likely four shot victory at the Bank of Utah Championship. The last putt left. Michael Brennan goes from sponsor invite to PGA Tour winner. What a magical week for the Brennan family. With his parents on hand, his dream of playing on the PGA Tour has become a reality here at the Bank of Utah Championship.
