ARDEN, N.C. – The fall golf season comes to an end as the Wildcats head to Arden, NC for the French Broad Collegiate Invitational, Monday and Tuesday, Octover 27-28 at the Cliffs at Walnut Cove.
The 36-hole, 2-day event will begin with a shotgun start for rounds one and two on Monday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. EST, with the second round set to begin at 9:30. The event was originally scheduled as a 54-hold event, but the second round of day one was canceled due to inclement weather predictions.

B-CU, fielding the exact same lineup from its previous event – the PCT Autumn Harvest – saw saw Reese Wilson lead the way again as the Wildcats posted a team score of 1044 over three rounds of play, finishing 16th out of 16 teams in the event.
After an opening-round 351, the Wildcats inproved to a 345 in round two before rounding out the event with a 348 in the final round Tuesday.
Event host Kansas State took the team title with an 877, besting second-place Cincinnati by 27 strokes. Kansas State also boasted the top three scorers in the event, led by individual champion, Nanami Nakashima, who posted rounds of 69-72-70 for a three-round score of 211 (-5)
Wilson completed the week with rounds of 78-81-87 for a 246 (+30) – placing the Chicago native in a tie for 52nd place on the individual leaderboard.
Next up for B-CU was Lathika Krishna, who fired an 85-84-84=253 (+37) – good for 67th place in a field of 88 golfers.
Freshman Mia Bernier finished 56-over par with a 91-90-91=272, while Skylar Kew and Lana Bowen rounded things out for the Cats – each finishing with a 276 (+60) for the tournament.

The Cliffs at Walnut Cove is a par 73, 6,020 yard course designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus. The Nicklaus Signature course at Walnut Cove is designed to challenge and reward players of all skill levels in a championship-level facility. Players will find challenging greens, bentgrass fairways, and clever bunkering—all set in the beautiful rolling meadowlands cradled in a natural amphitheater harbored by the Pisgah National Forest.
Asheville began hosting the French Broad Collegiate Invitational in the spring of 2019. After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Asheville’s home invitational returned in the fall of 2021. This marks the fifth year Asheville has hosted a home tournament, after canceling last year’s FBCI due to Helene.

The Wildcats are one of 10 programs in the 2025 tournament field, including Charlotte, Clemson, Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, Montana, Toledo, William & Mary, Winthrop, and host UNC Asheville.
