It drives me crazy. I have delusions of grandeur. Like Max Homa says, sometimes I feel close to pro level(delusional). All the other times I feel like I just picked up a club for the first time. Always so close but still so far away….This season has been rough. I’ve been keeping a vanity cap because I cant stand posting scores in the 90’s/100’s. Last couple rounds have been good though. Carded a 74/76/79 in the last week. Today, I scored 89 and then 38 on the emergency 9. Just had to remember to stay connected. Anyone else struggle with this kind of inconsistency? Guess my vanity cap if you want.

  1. This is why I never ask someone why they stay in an abusive relationship….between golf and tennis…I KNOW why.

You sound like an average golfer that takes it too seriously.

Why don’t you take your time with your set up? Looks like you’re going out there to swing a bat for the little league the way you move your club. Take your time my son

  4. Imagine a being almost pro when you have a +6 handicap. While probably not numerically accurate, mid 70s golf is closer to bogey golf than it is to pro level.

Relatable I know I can shoot 70s more often but I don’t put in any practice and drink beers while I play

I love golf, hate when I hit bad shots because of me.

Elite golfers shift from analytical, “left-brain” thinking to a more reactive, “right-brain” state in the moments just before the swing. This prevents “paralysis by analysis,” a state of overthinking that can disrupt performance.

In other words, they “quiet their brain” and allow muscle memory from practice repetition to take over. The practice gives them the confidence to do this.

All the low handicappers at my club use the driving range and practice chipping/ putting…before and often AFTER a round or on days they are not playing. They also have a method to their practice. The mid and high handicappers hit a few random warm up shots and maybe a few chips/putts before a round and that is the extent of their practice.

I’m guessing a 5 handicap. I like that baby fade action you’re working with there.

Yes I hate it. My new thing is I start off striping the ball with a baby fade or even a baby draw, which is an awesome development for me. Absolutely pure shots that feel great. About 15 minutes later, it’s literally physically impossible for me to not come over the top. Then back to chunking it, which was something I thought I took care of at the beginning of the season. It’s absolutely driving me nuts. I just don’t understand how consistency is so impossible to attain for me.

More than two taps and you’re playing with it

“Emergency 9” is hilarious. I’ve had an emergency range session a few times, but never an extra 9
