Everybody's Golf Hot Shots romance system

According to the developers behind Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots, a romance system with the caddy was almost included.

This comes from a recent interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu. During the discussion, chief producer Tomokazu Fukazawa revealed that at some point, “your caddy would have confessed to you on the greens”. However, this was not implemented due to a lack of time and money.

Our full translation of the excerpt with Fukazawa and producer Takafumi Takemoto is as follows:

The mode where bombs and panels appear on the course is also very fun. Everyone can get together and play it like a party game.

Takemoto: We thought to incorporate the feeling of playing an exciting board game with everyone, so we made use of panels. We wanted the “fun” of using cards obtained from the panels to strengthen one’s own character or impede other players.

It felt like the perfect game to play during the long nights of fall. This seemed like the kind of game for which you would call your friends to come and play until the dead of the night.

Fukazawa: We had countless plans for this type of “gameplay”, but the explosive traps, panels, golf club confiscation and such were what remained. We watched many programs and videos about golf, including variety shows, then we got inspiration from them; that’s how things went. During the planning stages, we considered a romance system with the caddy, but it did not happen because of time and money. As you progressed through the game, your caddy would have confessed to you on the greens (laughs). In the end, the essence of the idea remained as “affection”.

Fukazawa also previously spoke about why Bandai Namco brought the series back, including how a port of a previous entry was considered. In case you missed it, we have those comments here.
