Scottie Scheffler has bagged another victory, but this time it’s not on the green. After a stellar 2025 with six PGA Tour wins, including two majors, the four-time major champion has again added a trophy to his collection. It comes as Tiger Woods shared a sad verdict on his golf game.

Scheffler’s competitive spirit has now ventured into open water fishing. The 28-year-old Texan led his newly formed team, the Texas Lone Stars Angling Club, to triumph in the Sport Fishing Championship, marking a successful end to their debut season.

The thrilling finale took place at the Zane Grey Championship Playoffs in Cabo San Lucas, where Scheffler’s team secured the season title in an exciting finish. With just 90 minutes remaining in the competition, the Lone Stars reeled in a blue marlin, earning them crucial points.

Scheffler, who became the full owner of the team just over a year ago, lauded his crew’s resilience under pressure.

“I could not be more proud of the club for winning the season championship in our inaugural year of competition,” he said. “It is a testament to their talent and determination to overcome the pressure of the moment, and for their resilience to overcome a tough start to the season to even be in the hunt. There’s no ‘quit’ in this team.”

Robbie Floyd, the SFC commentator, summed it up best after the blue marlin was caught. “Scottie Scheffler, congratulations, you’ve got another title in 2025,” said Floyd.

After six tournaments, Scheffler’s team secured second place in the Gulf Division with 15,800 points, trailing 4,000 points behind the Third Coast Renegades Angling Club. Despite finishing last in the first two tournaments, their second-place finish was enough to secure a spot in the Zane Grey Championship playoff.

Once they made it to the playoffs, the team racked up 4,550 points, outscoring the Third Coast Renegades Angling Club by 150 points and clinching the inaugural season of the Sport Fishing Championship.

Over the course of the two-day playoff, Scheffler’s team released 41 striped marlin and one blue marlin.
