Expansion plans at a Solihull golf course have taken a step closer to coming to fruition.

West Midlands Golf Club in Marsh House Farm Lane, Barston, received planning permission for a new 14 bay golf driving range, video room, ball wash and entrance reception last year.

A design and access statement included in the original application submitted to Solihull Council said: “The proposed driving range building will provide 14 covered bays and associated facilities.

“This includes a video room that will provide a training resource that will help golfers review and improve their game.

“The building also includes ancillary facilities such as a ball wash area, office, and storage area.

“A covered driving range building will provide a high-quality practice and coaching area that is currently not available at the club.

“The existing driving range is open other than three bays which have temporary cover over them.

“The use of the driving range can be badly affected by the weather conditions.”

Permission was granted in July 2024, subject to conditions, with officers saying that the proposal “would provide provision of appropriate facilities”.

In June the applicant submitted a new application to vary a condition to allow an extension of the building behind the driving range.

And on Tuesday, (October 21), that change was also approved by planners.
